Via @c.switaj #caitlinbrianna - Ironman Superfrog 70.3 Race Report Part 3 🐸🏃🏼‍♀️ 📸 @cpt2nr88 Heading out of transition and throughout the first mile, I experienced a ton of congestion – elbow to elbow with many other runners, accidentally bumping others when attempting to pass. The run course is 4ish loops with 8 miles on the beach, including approximately 2 miles (broken up) in soft sand. For anyone unfamiliar to the course, my splits appeared to be all over the place, alternating between sub-7 minute miles on the pavement and 9ish minute miles on the sand. Before the race, I traveled 40 minutes to Alki beach in West Seattle every Sunday to complete my race simulation long runs. I would warm up for 5 miles on the run path and then complete 7-8 miles on the ½ mile stretch of sand (many, many out-and-backs) and finish with several miles once again on the pavement. I only wish I had practiced more on the soft sand. I was disappointed to hear that I was 6th in AG headed out of transition. I knew I could run down at least a few places, but I didn’t count that many passes on the bike. Getting started on the run, my legs felt woozy and I figured I would settle for a split closer to 1:50. Nonetheless, I pushed through and finally felt warmed up around mile 4. Each time I reached the soft sand segment, I would stop looking at my watch and told myself to simply keep moving forward – my pace would be incomparable to any other run I had done before. When I reached the pavement, I would push my pace and welcome the speed in my legs. During the compacted sand segments, I focused on staying as close to the water as possible. As the waves rolled in, I noticed many athletes running up the sand to prevent getting their feet wet. I welcomed the feeling of cold water rushing over my feet and I benefited from not needlessly expending the energy… worth every lost toenail! As I approached my final out-and-back, the heat started to get the better of me – I started to feel a little lightheaded... I went through a few bikes during my pro career with different sponsors, I sold all of them except this bad boy from 10 years ago! Hands down the best roadie I have ever ridden, so comfortable I could never part with old Greg! #systemsix #cannondale Accumulation of one movement through time.. results will happen.. stick with it and don’t expect results overnight! #triathlon #fitness #circuits bio #fitness # #fitness #fitnessmotivation #circuits #gym #triathlon #tri #bikeswimrun #multisport #onlinecoaching #onlinefitnesscoach #onlinefitness #chinups #barwork #crosstraining #outdoorgymlife #fitspo #fitnessjourney #triathlon_in_the_world #runningmotivation #3athlonlife

The water is your friend..... you don't have to fight with water, just share the same spirit as the water, and it will help you move. ― Alexandr Popov 👆🏼 This! I often think of this when I swim. Don’t fight it. Go with it. Flow with it. [not so much about sharing the same spirit 🤨🙅🏻‍♀️] 💦 It’s been almost 2️⃣ months since I last swam in a “real” pool and it was refreshing!! 🤗 I SOOO wish we had an indoor lap pool in our tiny town! 🤤 That being said, I’ve never had the chance to master the flip turns. Each winter, I dabble a bit each workout but when the build phase turns more intense, I let it go until fall. 🍁 Man! They wear. Me. OUT! Is my technique way off or does it just take more time and consistency?? 🏊🏼‍♀️ Hope you all had a great weekend!!😀 . . . . . . #triathlon #triathlete #ironmantriathlon #triathlonmom #swimbikerun #tri #swim #bike #run #running #cycling #ironmantraining #ironmantri #getit #triathlonlife #runhappy #trilife #trainhard #goals #nevergiveup #runnersofinstagram #3athlonlife #instarunners

With average temps around 80F and max temp at 91F I was very thankful for some nice cool water to rinse my face and get my hat wet in an effort to sort of get my temp down a bit.. I am sooo ready for some cooler fall running temps ☀️🏃🏼‍♀️ #overheating #longrun

Yesterday was a challenge but it only made me more motivated to grab my run shoes and get after it this morning. 4 miles easy then felt good enough to add a couple miles of tempo just to prove to myself I could 💕🏃🏼‍♀️ #justkeeprunning

There was also a bunch of running mixed in.. and a bunch of stretching to try to loosen up cranky legs.. I did cut it short by 2 miles but considering I ran out of water and overheated I am happy with 16 miles.. I am even more proud of not giving up and working past the mental wall I hit. Some days it is just that you learn to suck it up.. for me it was putting my headphones in with music cranked and hat down .. just get it done mode 💕☀️🏃🏼‍♀️ #justkeeprunning #thereisstilltime #marathontraining

Y’all - I’m so so tired. Last long run, last long week - 11 hours and 21 minutes of workouts. 💤 In 2 short weeks I’ll be wrapping up a marathon after a little swimming and biking. I can’t believe it’s almost time. Have I mentioned how tired I am? 😴 Also, I had 2 dinners tonight. Sorry not sorry 🤷🏼‍♀️Still pretty bummed my girls aren’t racing with me but trying to make the best of it. Taking advantage of the last few perfect days before it gets colder. Got in some form drills today. My snorkel sure gets me some funny looks in this posh pool, but it’s the perfect tool for working on tautness and body alignment! . . #3athlonlife #swimbikerun #triathlontraining #triathlete #triathlon #tritraining #worldoftri #swimtraining #ironmantraining

69 – IRONMAN© Boulder – Brian Aubuchon DNF I conclude my series of the IRONMAN© Boulder with my new friend Brian Aubuchon. He is such an amazing person and I’m truly in awe of how humble he is and how much perseverance he has. In case you didn’t catch the video prior to Boulder this year, he was the athlete in the video where Bek Keat and Siri talked about him in pursuit of his finish line. He had toed the line of five IRONMAN© races prior to Boulder without officially completing any of them. His journey has many struggles, hardships, and even more happy memories made along the way. At Boulder he unfortunately did not get his finish. Keeping in mind he is a father of five amazing children, two of which have autism, and a loving wife that supports him. Not including the fact that he is the owner of two bowling alleys. With a lot on his plate, he is still going to become and IRONMAN© one day and this is only a snapshot of his journey along the way. I look forward to following Brian at IRONMAN© Mont Tremblant. It’s been a while since I rode 100 miles, but we have to take advantage of the amazing fall weather while we can! One thing I’ve learned about long rides is that they are never going to be fast. There’s always stoplights, traffic, flat tires...just stay on top of your nutrition, crank up the music and enjoy the ride. I feel like there’s a lesson in there somewhere 🤔 . . . . #swimbikerun #triathlon #triathlontraining #triathlonlife #workout #ironman #fitnessmotivation #fitness #triathlete #endurance #cycling #cyclinglife #instacycling #roadbike #cyclist #humansoftriathlon #cyclinggrams #cycling_addicts #3athlonlife

Arizona did not get the “Fall Weather” memo. It was HOT & that made for a tough day, esp. on the run. Despite my slow run, I had a 30+ min 70.3 PR and a Bike PR. I loved racing with @the_tri_lyfe and seeing our amazing cheer squad @lizzielu7 & Charlie and @rush4mickey on the course!
