Well... we both survived. There was some whining, crying and Kaylee woke up but the 30 minutes happened. Progress is progress, no matter how slow. Keep chipping away at whatever it is you’re working towards. Small steps forward are still steps in the right direction. This isn’t comfortable. DEFINITELY outside of my comfort zone, but I do it anyway. I do it before my brain talks me out of doing it. . I talked about this in my story earlier. Our brain wants to shut down anything that is out of our comfort zone as a protective mechanism to save us from things like saber tooth tigers. The primitive part of our brain doesn't realize that we aren't worried about predatory mammals anymore. . If you have a goal (exercising, eating healthy, losing weight, building a business … whatever it is) you have 5 seconds to act on an impulse before your brain shuts that impulse down if that impulse is out of your comfort zone. . If you don’t take action on your instinct to change, you’ll stay stagnant, right? Stagnant is safe, but not always the best thing. But if you do one simple thing, you can prevent your mind from working against you. Just start counting backward to yourself: 5-4-3-2-1. I say "5-4-3-2-1 workout" or, when faced with brownies I say "5-4-3-2-1 healthy." As soon as you reach “1” – push yourself to move. . Why move within 5 seconds? Physical movement is key. It doesn’t mean you have to jump up and start doing squats. Just move in the direction of your instinct. Get out of bed, put your workout clothes on, pick up an apple instead of the brownie… If you don’t take physical action WITHIN 5 SECONDS, your brain will kill the instinct. . Your brain is like an overprotective, irrational, “helicopter” parent. It thinks it’s keeping you safe when in fact it’s keeping you from growing as a person, stretching yourself in areas you want to grow, and fully experiencing life. When you stop and think, when you hesitate, and when you feel uncertain, you are signaling to your brain that something’s wrong. Your brain automatically goes into overdrive to protect you. . How does it protect you? By keeping you from doing anything that feels scary, hard, or uncertain. You know that there’s nothing dangerous about making a call or taking a walk or pursuing your dreams, but your brain doesn’t know that, and it tries to sabotage you. This is a way to outsmart your brain by changing hesitation into #action

Guess who just bought a whole bunch of fresh oils and supplies and gets to work on a commissioned painting?!? its been a while so I’m a little nervous and a lot excited-I’ve been itching to pull out my easel again! And it hit me. I am living the life I always dreamed of... I’ve always wanted to be a stay at home mom. I’d always planned to homeschool I still wanted to be able to bring in some kind of income and contribute financially(and I had no idea that Young Living existed at the time 😉 So My grand plan for myself was just to have someone come over one or two days a week and help with housework and kids so that I could paint. Yesterday as I was sitting with my client discussing the commission she wanted done the thought ran through my mind that Maybe it was too much. Maybe I couldn’t do it. Maybe I’d have to get someone to come over and help watch the kids... And then I heard a little voice yelling at me “maybe this is what you always wanted!!” When God gives you the chance to live out your dream-no matter how big or small it may be-you say yes please!!! I am overdue for a rant on social media so...⁣ Here I go; 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! ⁣ ⁣ #tbt #2014 • After I graduated beauty school and became a Licensed Cosmetologist, I started doing hair & makeup photoshoots. I value that time of my life beyond words. These photographs taken on my iPhone 4s at the time, displayed a moment of one my successes & one of the happiest days of my life. Ever think yourself out of acting? #allthetime! You get that urge to act and then the mind takes over with its reasons and chatters you right out of it. This is why I love the #54321 rule by #melrobbins “the moment you have an instinct to act on a goal you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will stop you”. Wise words from @paleochef Mary Shenouda. We all want the quick fix, instant gratification, we want it all and we want it right now. I see it with my nutrition clients and I see it in myself as I am building my business. But these things take time and you’ve got to put in the work. Small steps forward day after day add up! I love this quote because it is a simple reminder to “water your seeds” or put another way, focus your attention where you want to see growth. If you miss a day “watering” it likely won’t kill the plant. As long as you pick up watering the next day. We can mess up from time to time but as long as we are consistent with our approach and intentions we will see the growth and reap the benefits down the road. We just have to be patient.

Breakfast is little crunchy Swedish breads (they have a name, it's on the bag, I can't be bothered 😂) with almond butter, banana, and hemp hearts. 💥 It's 7am and I've already cleaned up the bathroom, taken out the trash, folded and put away a load of laundry and started a new one, taken my vitamins and made tea and breakfast. I'm a happy productive birdie this morning. ***Snooze*** . . Hands up who hits snooze? . . I’ve heard several times you should never hit the snooze but, while listening today to @melrobbinslive 5 second rule I found out why!!! . . Basically when you sleep your body goes through 4 - 5 cycles that last about 90 minutes each, about 2 hours before your due to wake your body starts to get itself ready, once you hit the snooze button your body thinks your gonna sleep for another 90 minutes, which explains why I can personally say I definitely feel more tired 💤 if I hit the snooze. . . #donthitsnooze #5secondrule #54321 #90minutes #melrobbins #makesperfectsense
