Yay to sis & BIL for buying some HarriAnns kuehs for the family! ❤❤❤ Being a fan of chenDOL, it is of no surprise that their Kueh Chendol ($1.10) was my favourite! . Despite looking unassuming, its top brown layer was bursting of gula melaka sweetness, which complemented the bottom coconut cream layer (which encases little bits of pandan jelly) which was more bland but carries an irresistible fragrance. 🤤🤤🤤 Eating them together in one bite was really akin to having the chendol dessert itself – all the essence condensed in a soft & chewy kueh! 💕 . Rainbow Lapis ($1.10) is their signature which happens to be everyone’s all-time favourite! 🤩🤩🤩 Who also peels them off layer by layer & starts eating them from the bottom layer? 🤔 Cuz that’s what I used to do as a kid (and still do)! I’d leave the best for the last (yessss, I mean THAT BRIGHT RED layer ❤) & it’s good that this way forces me to eat it slowly, which means I can savour this kueh for a longer time! The stretchy mochi-like texture & light coconut fragrance just won me over easily. 👍🏻 . We also had the Pink Fairy ($1.10) but sorry no pic cuz they were devoured before I could snap a pic! 😂 Dainty in pink, the pretty pink layer is a coconut cream layer while the bottom one has some steamed azuki beans. 💕 Would have preferred if they incorporated more red beans for better textures & earthy flavours as the red bean taste was almost non-existent, completely overshadowed by the lemak coconut cream. 😔 Overall I found it a tad too sweet but this will surely appeal to those with a sweet tooth! 😊 . The kuehs may be small in size but score big on satisfaction! ✔

This is by far one of my favourite combination - unagi on a bed of tamago egg sizzling away on a hotplate! This particular dish holds a lot of sentimental value to me. My mum used to bring my brother and I to this Japanese eatery at the basement of Bugis Junction when we were in primary school. As I was young and ignorant back then, I was unable to appreciate good Japanese food. Hence, I always ate the "safe" option - sushi. After a while, something clicked in me and I decided to try a new dish, which was unagi with tamago egg served on a hotplate. It was the best thing I have tried at that age, and I converted to become a huge fan of Japanese cuisine since then 😂 After a while, the eatery either closed down or moved away. My single regret was that we did not take note of the name of the eatery (as we did not expect it to close), and so, were unable to locate it after it disappeared 😔 When I tried this dish at Koh Grill's, I felt that I was immediately transported back to my primary school days, where I first cultivated my love for Japanese cuisine. The combination of the unagi and fluffy egg emanates a certain fragrance and explosion of flavour that invokes a sense of nostalgia within me. It might not have been from the same store or cooked by the same chef, but it was enough to spark my memory of how my love for Japanese cuisine all began. recently into the Malaysian style wanton mee (black sauce, sometimes mix with ketchup). one of the famous one is Pontian. but my fav kind of wanton mee is still from Fei fei at katong because their noodle has this sweet after taste but my other few favourites are from Eng’s (the one opposite punggol nasi lemak), Bee Kee truffle wanton, Wang Jiao cooked food and Ding ji.

Tokyo Maze-Soba ($10.80 - Regular) at Menya Kokoro. The last impressive mazesoba i ate was at Kajiken years ago but this one was as good, if not even better. I took the non spicy option but i tried my friend’s “slightly spicy” version and couldnt handle it so do take note if u cant tolerate the heat. Really liked how there was sufficient sauce and ingredients so that the noodles were well coated. If you have remaining toppings at the bottom of your bowl after finishing the noodles, you can ask for a small portion of rice for free to mix it in and finish it up. #fatdieaylwin

My first time having Thai otah served in a clay "plate". The seafood mousse is moderately spicy while the texture remains generally smooth. Stateland Coffeehouse's kitchen was kept busy the past few weeks to dish up more of their Asian fusion dishes, in a new all-day weekend brunch menu.
