Colorado turned out to be a blast. when this guy showed up he didn't give me much time to see what he was. I had to make a quick decision as he was going into thick cover and ended up hitting him at 580 yards. He is not what i went to Colorado for but most of the deer on my unit had already migrated through to private and rez so I am happy to fill my tag. Cant wait to get back. #canvascutter #alaskaguidecreations #browning #exomountaingear #outdoorsupplements #nrpeaks #zeiss #28nosler #sitka #loadgodominate

@Regran_ed from @wildlandhunter - Something I always think about a lot is how we try to picture future events in our lives. For me this now mostly pertains to hunting trips. This fall I’ve gone on 5 big game hunting trips. One of them took place on Kodiak island, and it had been planned for over a year and a half. There would be many times I spent awake at night trying to picture in my head what the terrain is going to look like? How are my stalks going to play out? What will I do if I come home empty handed? How am I going to react when this or that happens? With everything I pictured it was always best case scenario. Like what a lot of optimistic people do in life. There nothing wrong with that but I think there’s an amount of resiliency you need to have going into it. While I was sitting here in this picture that my brother took of me with 90+ pounds of mountain goat and gear in my pack I was thinking about if I could just start it all over again redo the hunt and see what other factors would be thrown into the mix. I think I’ve grown so much to enjoy the mystery of all of it. Even though I might be somewhat let down that I missed some highlights of a good hunting trip, I’m starting to learn to focus on the 95 good things that happened instead of the 5 bad, not just in hunting but in all aspects of your surroundings. At the end of the 7 day trip I left with this empty feeling that I had almost missed something on Kodiak island. Like now that it’s over I’m not sure what to look forward to next. I miss having a future endeavor to look forward too, almost like having a friend by your side to keep pushing you day in and day out. That if you quit working and living you’re gonna miss out on what good is coming to you, Almost like it’s your motivation to live your best life. #wildernessathlete #huntbackcountry #publicland #sitkablacktail #kodiakisland #vortexoptics # wildlandhunter #military #fieldcraftsurvival #sdtacticalarms #infantry #fieldcrafttribe #hunting #backcountryhunting #exomountaingear #schnees #firstlite #sitka #kuiu #alaska #alaskaguidecreations

I abandoned my tree stand/ground blind strategy and set off to track on foot. This ol' girl outsmarted me at every turn, but in the end, my .280 Remington won out. One hell of a hunt.

After sitting in the cold for 2.5 days, this beauty decided to make an appearance 10 minutes before dark...after a season of ups and downs, I was very grateful to be able to put the crosshairs on him and let the @rugersofficial .450 and @zeisshunting V4 do the real work. He ran maybe 30 yards and expired....I didn’t think I’d get emotional walking up to him...but tears were definitely shed. It was a combination of relief and gratitude...I’m beyond thankful to harvest this Michigan whitetail...I’m even more thankful for a quick/clean kill and for the meals he will provide throughout the next year. Cheers to 2018 Michigan firearm season 🍻 @zeisshunting @sitkagear @rugersofficial ________________________________________ #success #bbd #zeissoptics #ruger #450bushmaster #sitkagear #diverge7 #alaskaguidecreations #crispihunting #beyondtheears #talltinebowstrings #whitetail #michiganwhitetail #riflehunting #puremichigan #whatgetsyououtdoors #venison #organic #sweetnovember #mibha #backcountryhuntersandanglers #hornadyammo

Went deer hunting today with @andrea__major @mishae_928 and @johnny___thunders While @johnny___thunders and I were on a ledge glassing, I spotted a black bear on the opposite ridge at 750 yards. He was moving quick along the hill so we started paralleling him trying to get closer. I realized he was moving too fast so I pulled out my rabbit distress predator call and started blowing on it. He slowed down and dropped into thick cover. A few minutes later he was coming back at us along a game trail. @johnny___thunders gave me the yardage and I smoked him at 300 yards. He didn’t make it 2 feet. #bearhunting #tikkat3x #tikkafirearms #hornadyammo #300winmag #mywifeisthebest #allfriendsforever #kryptekoutdoorgroup #kuiu #nikonoptics #odinworks #alaskaguidecreations

Finding words to express my gratitude for harvesting this buck isn’t easy. With my older sister passing away two weeks ago my life has been forever changed. I now have no excuse to not get out and live life to the fullest like she did. I could have spent this weekend on the couch mourning my loss, or I could get out in the woods and be alive. I’m so thankful I had two of the most humble guys with me on this hunt. Thank you @dopperdandy and @dlowil2 . It’s safe to say I also had a little help from above on this one. #grateful #colorado #publicland #diy #muledeer #traintohunt #wildernessathlete #kryptek #deadeyeoutfitters #gohunt #alaskaguidecreations #liveactioninthewest

@Regran_ed from @wildlandhunter - Patient is a very important part of life. Not only for you as an individual but for your family and friends. I’ve tried many different things in life to become a more patient individual, inside and outside of the military. Nothing I’ve experienced comes as close as the lessons I’ve been taught while hunting. So many situations I still kick myself for today if I would’ve waited and not gone stomping after the first animal I saw and blown the stalk or spooked other game that intern carried off the animal I was stalking. I sometimes think back to using the 5th principal of patrolling “common sense” while on missions and apply that to difficult situations that I face in life and in the backcountry. I don’t think of it as the fact that I’m not using common sense, I use it to slow down my thought process and make better decisions in life. So take this Saturday and use your 5th principal of patrolling and have a great weekend with your friends and loved ones #wildernessathlete #huntbackcountry #nationalhikingday #punlicland #sitkablacktail #kodiakisland #vortexoptics # wildlandhunter #military #fieldcraftsurvival #sdtacticalarms #infantry #fieldcrafttribe #hunting #backcountryhunting #exomountaingear #schnees #firstlite #sitka #kuiu #alaska #alaskaguidecreations

Great day on the mountain. Hiked all day and bucks were nose deep. Seemed every ridge and drainage had bucks chasing does. We were glassing a big basin looking for a big buck my partner had seen the day before. I decided to do a loop to try and push some deer out. I got up top and had bucks fighting and chasing all around me. I pulled out the grunter and started playing with the deer. I saw this buck at 200 yds. I knew it wasn't the big buck but played with him anyway. I grunted him to 20 yds away and he was coming right at me. I smiled as I knew the boys would hear the shot ring from below and I knew this guy would end my season.. Thankful for strong legs for these mountain adventures and for good friends to help get him out. #huntinglife #muleycrazy #muleyfreak #bchunting #huntbc #muledeer #buck #venison #organicmeat #fueledbynature #kuiucanada #kuiu #kuiunation #alaskaguidecreations
