The current status of my 🐴 Nebula project. These images are based on 2 hours Ha, 2 hours OIII and 2.5 hours SII, together with 4 hours of color data. From top left to bottom right. The classic Hubble palette, Hubble palette with a bit more green, HOO + true color and finally pure Ha. #astrophotography #astropics #astrobin #astrocapetown #astrobackyard #astronomy #space #spacepics #apotd #photography #naturephotography #capetown #asi1600mc #asi1600mm #zwooptical #teleskopservice #newlands #southafrica #hydrogenalpha #longexposure #longexposureshots #nebulae #narrowband #telescope #spaceart #astro #universe

For those who were asking, prints of Blue Bower are now available through my website. Link in bio. . Lucky are we to find ourselves nestled in such a comfortable nook of the cosmos. We have evolved, of course, to fit this planet like a glove. Yet for that evolution to take place, a multitude of serendipitous circumstances were necessary. It is possible we owe a debt to the vastness of our universe, which has created such statistical possibilities. From our planet's protective magnetosphere and temperature, balanced in the range of liquid water, to our Sun's stable size and Jupiter's gravitational deflection of hazardous debris, we are privileged to occupy so tufted a nest. It may be the only soft spot such fragile and short-lived biological creatures as we, will ever be capable of reaching – a precious thing, this beautiful blue bower. . #artprints #artprint #sciart #scienceart #spaceart #figurepainting #cosmos #carlsagan #space #science #nebula #universe #humanism #humanist #astronomy #astrological #celestial #cat

In August & September 2016, Hubble observed an unusual binary object in the asteroid belt. On September 20, 2017, Hubble's images were released showing that the object was two asteroids orbiting each other, and that it has comet-like features — a bright halo, called a coma, and a long tail of dust. Astronomers estimate the binary system has existed for only about 5,000 years. Called 2006 VW139 (or 288P), this is the first known binary asteroid that is also classified as a comet. Cosmic dust clouds and young, energetic stars inhabit this telescopic vista, less than 500 light-years away toward the northern boundary of Corona Australis, the Southern Crown. The dust clouds effectively block light from more distant background stars in the Milky Way. But the striking complex of reflection nebulae cataloged as NGC 6726, 6727, and IC 4812 produce a characteristic color as blue light from the region's young, hot stars is reflected by the cosmic dust. The dust also obscures from view stars still in the process of formation. At top right, smaller yellowish nebula NGC 6729 bends around young variable star R Coronae Australis. Near it, glowing arcs and loops shocked by outflows from embedded newborn stars are identified as Herbig-Haro objects. On the sky this field of view spans about 1 degree. That corresponds to almost 9 light-years at the estimated distance of the nearby star forming region. ⠀ ⠀ Credit: Josep Drudis⠀ ⠀ #apod #cosmicdust #dustcloud #stars #coronaaustralis #southerncrown #milkyway #nebulae #skygazing #astrophotography #astronomy #space #science

The origin of life on earth is thought to have arisen out of a pond-scum-like mix of chemicals. As humankind advances, becoming a multiplanetary species is necessary to avoid mass extinction. Stay tuned as our journey begins to seek habitable planets capable of sustaining human life. #icakostika #exobiology

About 4,000 light years from Earth lies RCW 108, a region where stars are actively forming within the Milky Way galaxy. The region contains young star clusters, including one that is deeply embedded in a cloud of molecular hydrogen. By using data from different telescopes, astronomers determined that star birth in this region is being triggered by the effect of nearby, massive young stars. #nasa #jpl #science #space #astronomy #physics #interstellar #education #universe #multiverse #galaxies #stars #milkyway #cosmos #nebulas #scienceoftheuniverse Image Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/CfA/S.Wolk et al; IR: NASA/JPL-Caltech
