Life is all about Balance. Du musst nicht immer alles erledigt haben. Manchmal ist es in Ordnung, ja sogar notwendig, einen Gang runter zu schalten, sich zurück zu lehnen und nichts zu tun. Hier geht es sehr viel um #balance. Hashtags wie #balancedlife #balanceddiet #balanceisthekey sind wahnsinnig beliebt. Alle reden davon, wie wichtig Balance ist. Auch ich schreibe viel darüber. Aber darüber schreiben/ reden ist eben nicht leben. Das wird mir immer wieder bewusst. Als ich letzte Woche krank war, war es sehr schwer für mich, einen Gang zurück zu schalten. Aber das erste mal in meinem Leben, habe ich alle Verabredungen und Meetings abgesagt. Egal, wie wichtig. Denn meine Gesundheit Geht vor. Natürlich hatte ich Glück, genau in der Woche krank zu werden, wo ich kein Seminar oder Workshop hatte. Dennoch: ich habe in diesem Punkt das erste Mal Balance gelebt. Und soll ich euch was sagen: ich bin wieder fit und schleppe es nicht weitere Tage und Wochen mit mir rum. Ich denke genau so verhält es sich auch in all unseren Bereichen des Lebens. Wenn wir Balance nicht leben, dann werden wir immer irgend etwas mit uns rum schleppen und vor allem etwas verschleppen. In der Geduld und Zeit liegt die Heilung. Und vielleicht hat Balance auch gerade damit zu tun - mit Zeit und Geduld. Beides sind in unserer heutigen Zeit gefühlt Luxusgüter. Alleine der Spruch: Zeit ist Geld sagt schon alles. Aber wie wir zum Glück wissen, ist Geld nicht alles. In diesem Sinne wünsche ich dir ganz viel Zeit und Geduld. In allem und für alles, was dir wichtig ist. Schalte vielleicht mal einen Gang zurück. Frag dich: muss ich das wirklich? Ich denke, wenn wir müssen durch möchten/wollen/werden ersetzen, wird es vielleicht schon etwas einfacher das ein oder andere los zu lassen. Nehmt euren Handlungen den Zwang & ersetzt sie durch Chancen und Sicherheit. Ihr müsst nicht zur Arbeit gehen, ihr geht zur Arbeit. Ich müsst nicht trainieren, ihr geht trainieren. Denn MÜSSEN, müssen wir ganz bestimmt nicht. Wir selber machen uns den (Termin-)Druck. Needless to say, I definitely need to TRAIN SMARTER rather than harder. Flexibility can enhance our human performance and fitness so drastically and yet it seems like one of the hardest things to make time for, personally. . To put myself in check, I’m reminding myself today that time is NEVER an excuse. We all have the same 24 hours in our day and what we do with those hours is 100% up to us. If we can make time to fit in a workout, why not set at least 10 extra minutes aside to simply STRETCH. Our bodies will thank us hugely. Got game? Toilet bowl on shot 4 is shooter’s touch baby! ——- Do your kids have a coach that cares? Do they have a coach that knows all the elements of an athlete? —— When I watch these awesome sports docs like The Basketball Love Story, the stories of the most elite athletes playing for hours, well past dinner time, in the snow & rain are exactly what I used to do. Not just when friends were there, ALWAYS. Especially with basketball, I wouldn’t go in the house unless I made 100 free throws in a ROW! So guess what my shot is still PURE! I fine tuned that shot in to my nervous system! Athletically & physically though, I lacked confidence because I wasn’t as fast or as strong, & in a lot of cases I was 1 year younger than the same guys in my class being an August birthday! I also got injured A LOT including 3 knee surgeries between 12-16 years old! In high school I was called gimp & was on crutches what felt like half the time! Each time I would just try harder, when I needed smarter! —— Being an athlete is a skill that can be taught & honed in on! If I knew then what I know today, I believe I may have had zero knee surgeries. I never had a coach train me on how to be faster. I just tried to keep up when we were told to run. I never had a coach teach me how to run, I just did what came natural. I never had a coach teach me that speed is primarily about vision & prediction! I never did injury prevention work. I never had an individualized rehab after any knee surgery. I just did the protocol that every other person going through knee surgery did. —- I know many of you want your kids to reach higher levels in sports, if they want to reach their genetic potential they must train vision, balance, & proprioception. If their coach or trainer doesn’t know how to train these skills send them to me. I care about changing your kid’s athletic life as if it was my own. Don’t let them miss a perfect shot!
