DEADLIFT After some pretty shitty sets @ 200 kg (should have done 3x3, but only could do 2|1|1 😥)I cut down the weight and went for an amrap (as many reps as possible) for my final set. Big PR with 170 kg for 10! In august I went for 160 kg for 8 reps. 🏋🏼‍♂️ Should You Squat “Ass To Grass” 🏋🏼‍♀️ . . You may have some people in the gym that may tell you for you to squat properly you have to squat ass to grass. Meaning the back of your hips have to hit the top of your heels in the bottom position of a squat 🍑 . . First and foremost it depends on what the gym goer is training for 💪🏻 . . Are they an Olympic lifter who will want the same foot position as they do on all their Olympic lifts? Generally their foot stance will just be a tiny bit out of their shoulders and they’re range will more than likely be “arse to grass” 👟 . . Are they a power lifter who’s just generally trying shift as much load as possible with the most optimal range and foot stance. Generally they will take a “sumo stance” as this is where they shift more load on to their posterior chain and their range will be shorter than an Olympic lifters depending on which competition they are entering 🥇 . . Or are they a gym goer who’s just trying to train for basic aesthetics whether it be fat loss or hypertrophy? Most of the time when they squat they will primarily just be training to fatigue their quads. They may use pre-exhaust work prior to the squat to get a bit of blood flow going so they feel their quads better when they squat. Generally they may take a more narrow stance and a higher heel elevation to shift more load through their knees and hit their rectus femoris more 🤯 . . That’s just basic foot positions covered and goals never mind their levers and mobility. I’m a big advocate of arse to grass when I squat myself as I find I’m built for it, BUT it doesn’t mean I tell every client I train they should squat like me.
