We toured the Church tonight at RCIA and learned all about the behind the scenes of Mass. Fascinating doesn’t begin to describe it. My favorite part was this sign in the sacristy. A simple yet motivating reminder that we should pray like champions today...and every day. • • • • • #rcia #becomingcatholic #catholic #austincatholic #holycrossparish

Such a humbling experience - the most beautiful and important day of my life💗 everyone’s journey to the lord looks a little different, but I think we can all agree it feels so good when you get there. The week of my baptism & confirmation was a wave of emotions, like serious emotions and tears out of no where. Last Saturday I was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. Walking up to be baptized I started pouring tears- tears of love, joy and hope. The moment the holy water hit my face I felt it, the indescribable feeling. The rebirth feeling of nothing before matters because he forgave all my sins. When I received my first communion that was it, the moment my heart truly deeply felt it. The peace I felt and still feel is so hopeful and amazing. I hope everyone experiences this. To remember to slow down, take it all in because it only gets better from here. Thank you to all my friends, family and strangers for supporting me through this process. • • #baptism #confirmation #catholic #becomingcatholic #myjourney #heislove #heisforgiving

——————— "I moved here from the Dominican Republic when I was 13. “Holiness consists simply in doing God’s will, and being just what God wants us to be.” - Saint Therese of Lisieux Yesterday I was surprised by my sister in law and my nephews, who dropped by to bring me a gift. They will not be in town tomorrow night as I make my final Sacraments in the Catholic Church, but still wanted to celebrate me. During my faith journey we were encouraged to find a Patron Saint who we can call on. While I’d love to say I chose St. Therese, she truly chose me. I opened my heart in prayer and she continued to call on me until I responded. St. Therese had a beautiful, short life living out her devotion to God by focusing on doing the small things. Roses are her signature and when we ask, she will send them to us. The first time I prayed to her, I specifically asked for dark pink roses, and within a few days I saw them everywhere. What a beautiful way to start the final days of my preparation than with this gift. Beautiful pink roses, a picture of St. Therese, and a brochure about her life from the convent she lived in, which my sister visited long before my devotion to her started. We didn’t know at the time that I’d have a connection with her, but she did, and so did God. His timing is always perfect. 🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️ #faithjourney #becomingcatholic #treasures #patronsaint #sttherese #littleway #family #roses #love #holyweek #godknows

One of the most grand places. I remember it literally taking my breath away as we walked the halls & climbed those stairs. For me, #notredame brought to life what it truly means to, “enter the house of God’ -even years before I would ever consider #becomingcatholic . Who knows maybe this was the day God planted that seed in me?

Who are you? What are you here for? What matters most? What matters least? Matthew Kelly did not disappoint! I came across him and Dynamic Catholic about a year ago and I’ve loved following him. He combines a passion for purpose, with a sense of humor, and a deep love for Jesus. I was so excited that he came to Louisiana to speak, he was exactly what my heart needed. Sometimes it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, to get lost in the shuffle. Standing strong in your identity and remembering the important things becomes increasingly harder when everything seems urgent. When life is overwhelming and the urge to turn inward and shut the world out is the first instinct, it’s so important to remember his words. Who are you? What are you here for? What matters most? What matters least? . . . . #matthewkelly #dynamiccatholic #faithjourney #becomingcatholic #passion #purpose #valorandgrace

“My sister came home with the little [Feminine Genius Brunch invitation] card. I didn’t even realize what it was at first. My sister is going through breast cancer and radiation, and I just wanted to support her. I don’t know if it was just me or if it happened to a lot of women, but I had sort of an epiphany. I felt like I had to confess my sins to God. I did it at home, though; I didn’t go to church. I bought a trinity candle, and I asked God to forgive me because I had three abortions. I was too embarrassed to go to church to confess my sins to a priest; it was a long time ago, I was 19, 21 and 23 when I had them. I just felt like the reason why I didn’t go to church anymore and I didn’t believe was because in the back of my mind I always felt like I wasn’t welcome. I think the brunch made me realize that I need to come back to church and have faith again, and that God is forgiving.” Read more about Noele’s #catholic story. I knew nothing about saints before beginning RCIA...except for one. Mother Teresa was a household name growing up, even in my non-Catholic home. I remember being a little girl and seeing photos of this woman so tiny in stature, her delicate wrinkled hands like my grandmother’s that I loved so much, white and blue dress, and always in some dirty place with starving sickly-looking people around her. And always emanating joy. Like no matter how dark a place could be, she was the light. I knew she was a nun of course, but never saw that who she was and everything she did was guided by her love of God. “The message of gratitude came up a lot. There are a lot of hard things that happen in life, and I think a lot of people turn to religion to get through, to celebrate the good times and to get through the really hard things in life. We would talk a lot about trying to live in gratitude. Every Sunday after I get Communion, I go and sit and say all my prayers and try to pray for everyone I know, which is very difficult to do. I always say to myself, to God, “Please let me live in Your likeness and be like You are, humble and loving and always in a state of love.” Trying to live your life with love, especially in New York City, is very challenging, but that message of love and acceptance and gratitude and just treating your neighbor well is something that I take with me every single day, even when I have those bad days on the subway.” Read more about Kristina’s #catholic story. “There was never really a discussion when I was a kid when it came to religion. We went to a little group for kids in a nondenominational church where everyone learned wood[working] and stuff like that, but there wasn’t any religious backbone to it. So as we got older, we never really spoke about it. After my grandfather died, I found out from my father that he gave 10% of every penny he ever made to the Church.... It struck me as odd; it didn’t sound like something we would normally do in our family. After my father died, I came into possession of a lot of pictures and I saw my father doing Communion, my father in church; I couldn’t believe it.” Read more about Marc’s #catholic story. Yesterday was an amazing day...Rite of Election. We had mass at our main cathedral along with our Bishop! All the candidates and catechumens, along with godparents and sponsors, were presented to our bishop. He personally shook our hands and blessed us individually. A student from our class happened to find a basket of crosses that said, “blessed by the Bishop, please take one.” So she gathered up enough for all our classmates and distributed them before mass. I’m from Mexico, I’m 40 years old, I have two little kids and a wife. When I was little, I lost my mother, and I never met my father until two years ago. I saw him, and we never talked again. I always thought maybe He’s not even real…. I made my way, I never talked about church. When people asked me if I was Catholic or Jehovah’s Witness or Evangelical or whatever, I always used to say, “I’m atheist.” But in my head I would say, “Forgive me, I just don’t want to talk about it because I don’t know you.” Read more of Alberto’s story — link in bio! • • • • #40days40reasons #rcia #becomingcatholic #catholic #lent #40days #mexico #family #catholic #jehovahswitnesses #evangelical #faith #journey #faithjourney

There is going to be no one that understands me. No other church will be just like Holy Agony was for me. Then, it was Palm Sunday, and I passed by [St. Francis de Sales], and I just walked in and sat in the corner. One day I was ready to lose it. I sat there and spoke and prayed to Our Lady of Guadalupe and I made a promise to her, saying 'Please get me through this. If you could help me out through this hard journey I’m going through … I promise you I will 100% go to church and do my confirmation in your honor.'" Today was another important milestone in my journey to Jesus! Plus I end my day with an important milestone in my business. April 2018, I prayed for guidance & sure enough he delivered it was up to me to listen. It was the hardest bandaid I ever had to rip off but I felt him speaking to me. Ever since I allowed him to fully enter my heart and be present in my life, it truly has unfolded to the most beautiful thing I could have ever imagined. I always rolled my eyes to people who said pray more, trust the lord, once you allow him in your heart your life will blossom. They were right. Living proof that I’ve been through hard, things that could have made me so ugly on the inside. Here I am today more beautiful on the inside than I ever believed. Cannot wait for April 20, 2019! • • #faith #myjourney #womenwholovejesus #becomingcatholic #ashwednesday #milestone

From @40days40reasons “My family has always been involved in the Catholic life. I have my baptism, I have my communion and somewhere along the way, I just forgot to do my confirmation. I kept being involved – I have done a couple of mission trips with the Jesuit priests – so [I’ve] always been very present in the Catholic lifestyle, but again, my confirmation for some reason I didn’t do. Then I met this beautiful woman, Cynthia, and we started dating, got engaged and as we were getting ready to get married, she asked me, “Hey, are you confirmed?” And I’m like, “Oh God, I’m not!” So at that point, I’m having a minor freak out, and I start Googling how to get confirmed, and I finally find out about the archdiocese program [with the Office of Adult Faith Formation].” Read more of Roberto’s story — link in bio! • • • • #40days40reasons #catholic #becomingcatholic #rcia #faith #lent #catholicsofnewyork #catholicny #repost

Today I.. went to church. made lunch. meal prepped. cleaned up after my kids. folded laundry. cleaned up after my husband. fought with my 18m old. actually took a nap. worried about Monday. set out backpacks, blankets & labeled Valentine cards. tried to enjoy a day off but also keep my sanity indoors with kids due to the nasty weather. ate a bowl of ice cream. watched Ava make Emma fetch toys. picked up more toys. did 2-10min workouts with the girls fighting over my step. ...it’s funny because this is my favorite way to spend Sunday-not leaving the house other than church. Somewhere between it all I realized I don’t recall a time where I’ve ever been happier. It’s not all rainbows & butterflies but it’s balance. I’ve created routines that have become a way of life & I have learned that to care for my family, I have to care for myself also. It made me ever so thankful I stumbled upon Team Courageous 3 years ago & I’m hopeful I can continue to share this with others 🖤
