Three years makes all the difference. How you take care of yourself is one of the biggest indicators of if we can take care of everyone else in our lives. That's where I was lacking. . So many of us give and give to everyone else and often put ourselves on the back burner. The girl on the left was working about 80 hours a week, hated her job, would often cry on the way to an emergency call and was not making any time for herself. She was tired, didn't eat super great, getting carry out because it was easy. . Once she realized something had to give, she purchased a DVD workout program from an infomercial. She was excited to start but there was one thing missing, accountability. So she got about half way through and the DVDs started to collect dust. . It wasn't until after she joined an online fit camp, that she started to see she needed a lifestyle change. He’s my greatest gift...my person. By day … or by afternoon/evening/night I am an athletic trainer and most people do not actually know all it is that we do! They see us sitting at the field watching games/practices and they see us on the field when an injury occurs but What you may not see is: The athletic trainer getting in earlier than their scheduled time because there is a fiasco occurring because of an Urgent Care and you need to get to the bottom of it! The athletic trainer sending emails and making phone calls to gather all the right information about that injury because it occurred at an away game! The conversations occurring between coaches and the athletic director about the next steps that need to happen for that injured athlete. The angry parent calling because they do not like the next step decision that has been made! The athletic trainer explaining to their best of their ability to that angry parent why the decision was made and that it is all in the best of interest of their child! The athletic trainer making even more phone calls and emails to get that athlete in that day for an appointment at a sports medicine office! The gratitude that once angry parent is no expressing to you because life has been stressful lately and they took that anger out on you! I remember the days when I trained clients at the gym every day, ate 6 clean meals, trained at least once, sometimes twice a day… slowly but surely put on one oz by one oz of muscle. And how I took it for granted. - I also remember when it all went away with too much stress that caused me to develop all sorts of illnesses, melt about 15 lb of muscle (everything I built for years), and make me cringe every time someone said “OMG you looks so great and skinny”. I never wanted to look skinny, that was not a choice of mine. I always loved my body the best at 145 lb (I am 130 lb now). - I know some of you know what I am talking about. When someone tells you how you look great, and in reality you probably do, but that’s not what you wanted… am I alone on this one? I definitely know some of it must be similar to body dysmorphia, and I sympathize with those who feel like that all the time. - Just a short time ago, I would have never publicly said how I felt about many things, but lately, I feel so strong about overcoming any obstacle that comes in front of me. So by FASTING, I mean you just don’t eat, right??? . HECK NO! I love food, I LOVE to eat, and I eat a LOT! . In my programs, we eat A LOT! In fact, the GOAL is to eat MORE and work out LESS! You get the best of both worlds! . The thing is, you just have to know the RIGHT things to eat and at the RIGHT time! . WHAT IS INTERMITTENT FASTING? . Intermittent fasting is NOT a diet, but rather an eating schedule. Your body is always in one of two states: fed or fasted. In the fed state, (anytime your body is digesting food), your body’s insulin levels make burning fat a challenge. However, in the fasted state, (8-12 hours after your body finishes digesting), your insulin levels are lower and your body is better able to reach into fat stores for energy. . People rarely go into a fasted state throughout the day. In fact, you've probably heard the exact opposite suggested--that you should eat several small meals throughout the day to lose weight and burn fat. Unfortunately, eating small amounts many times throughout the day doesn't give you great fat loss results.
