Yeah, that’s right, you ferment everything in the house! Next step post fermenting was to get all the veg ready for a 3-day juice fast. Not sure how I feel about this, but it’s all in the name of research. 😀 It’s designed to kickstart the gut healing process. Before I prescribe it, I always try it! Stay tuned over the next few days to see how it goes. Now on the bench are milk kefir, kombucha, and sauerkraut. In the fridge is turmeric and ginger paste for lots of yummy gut-soothing teas. 😁 although winter can be a bit cold for ferments, our kitchen/living area is quite toasty from the wood fire. Many of us often forget that our bodies are not machines, they require rest and lots of TLC. When both our mind and body are healthy, we feel better, allowing us to achieve better results and be more productive in our day to day life. . . Nonetheless, stress can seriously affect our body, mind, thoughts, motivation, feelings and our behavior. Stress is our body's way of responding to any kind of demand or threat. For instance, when we sense danger, whether it's real or imagined— the body goes into fight-or-flight mode. Being able to recognise common stress symptoms on the other hand can help us manage them. Whereas, stress that's not managed can contribute to many other health problems, such as high blood pressure, weight gain or loss, low energy, insomnia, constipation, upset stomach and many more. . . 🌟 TIPS TO IMPROVE MIND AND BODY WELLNESS 🌟 . 1️⃣ Meditation . 2️⃣ Maintain a healthy diet . 3️⃣ Get regular exercise . 4️⃣ Enjoy better sleep . . These are just 4 of many useful tips however it is very subjective. I find that socialising, going for long walks and interacting with others also helps stimulate our brains. In addition to this helps to improvr both our emotional health as well as our brain health. I certainly have been feeling very stressed in the last few days, I have been very irritable more than usual and not feeling like myself. A huge part of this has been having to reintroduce gluten and dairy back into my diet which has had a knock on effect on my healthy routine which I cannot wait to get back to.

Fish masala fry is a mouth-watering and very tempting fried fish recipe made using fresh fish pieces coming out straight from fresh waters. Here I've used fresh river fish (blessed to be staying on the banks of river Krishna) made a paste of using homemade masalas and dipped in rice flour and shallow fried them until soft n crisp. Every way of fried fish is delicious and quite appetizing. Fish is loaded with important nutrients, such as protein and vitamin D. S U N D A Y Sunday afternoon food prep for the week ahead. A batch of Vanilla & Coconut Macaroons @tersacutter_healthychef for high school lunchboxes. Baking with almond meal is more than just friendly for our gluten-free friends, it’s also protein rich which means it fuels growing minds & bodies. The cookies also have healthy fat (coconut oil) and a small amount of natural sweetener, delivering a nutritious snack to help enhance concentration & focus throughout the morning. Only 6 REAL FOOD ingredients + a little water + 10 minutes = 20 delicious cookies = brain food! RECIPE 3 cups almond meal 1/2 tsp sea salt 85g coconut oil, melted 85g honey 1/4 cup desiccated coconut 1 tsp vanilla 2-4 tbsp water to mix Combine all ingredients in a bowl, adding enough water to mix into a soft dough. Form 20 cookies in a lined baking tray. Flatten cookies slightly and top with coconut flakes & bake at 130oC for 20-30 minutes until golden brown. Setting aside an hour or two to prepare for the week ensures you’ll always have great staples on hand. Our next School Essentials Workshops are on Sunday 23 June at 10am & 2pm.
