Well, this is just the best start to a new year. I got my supplies today to start a big project for @spikenheimer along with supplies for two other commissions and some linen for some new weather pieces. I couldn’t be more grateful for this life and everyone who is part of it. 😍😍😍

Working with some more colorful underpaintings than my other linen work in the last 6 months. After feeling like I was poisoned earlier today (sorry, maybe that's a little dramatic, but I felt terrible), coming to the studio and seeing warmer, more optimistic colors made my day a little better. Optimism today seems so out of place, but we need it in order to keep doing the right things. Here's to hoping that you're also seeing the beautiful blue sky right now.
I feel I can be somewhat selfish about my creative time. No matter how busy life is (both art and non-art life), I always need to have personal projects in the works that I do for my own enjoyment. Sometimes I think about these projects as rudiments, like scales to musicians. I can be obsessive about pushing the quality of my technique and constantly learning. . . . This last project I started I wasn't actually sure I could do it. Well, that's not true. I was more confident that I could NOT do it. I thought about it for a better part of this last year, but I just decided to ignore my fear of failing and try it anyway. What is there to lose, really? Time is all we have on this planet. And, I can always use the materials for something else. No one would ever know I tried and failed. . . . I want to make single-color gradations on linen. There. I said it. It might not be as easy as it seems, but it could be less impossible than I originally thought. If you never see another image about this, I failed at it. But, I'm excited to even push myself to try. . . . What terrifies you, yet excites you at the same time? . . . Work in progress- fourth layer, acrylic on linen, 30" x30"

"People talk about the weather constantly- as people do, I assume in every part of the world. This is not because we can't think of anything to say. It's because the weather is important, physically and psychologically." -Bill McKibbin New work in progress, acrylic on canvas, 24"x24"
