So I'm very competitive about some things, and I found step count is one of those. So I've noticed i keep wanting higher and higher steps. And a little of that isn't bad but if i keep going it could get out of hand. So now my goals are just to hit all my goals for the day(and also beat my friends if we're are in a challenge 😋). But I'm allowing myself one day to go crazy and do my long treadmill walks. I want to do faster 5ks and start 10ks for fun, so a little practice is great. So, clearly today was that day and I walked for 7 and a half miles. And it was fun! 2019 is almost here!!! ✨🥂 . With a new year right around the corner, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my goals I had set for 2018, and working to set new goals for 2019. I didn’t meet ALL of my 2018 goals, but I did meet some of them. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 and the ones I did meet I am super proud of: 🖤 Ran not one but TWO marathons 🖤 became a certified personal trainer and an OTF coach 🖤 met my goals at work 🖤 focused more on being in the moment . Sure, I had several setbacks and there were things I was unable to check off my list, but overall I’m proud of what I accomplished last year, and can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store. . I encourage you all to make BIG GOALS and write them down so that you can look at them every day and remember them when things get tough. Use these as your WHY when you have to wake up a little earlier, don’t feel like doing something, etc. 💪🏼✨💯🔥🖤 2019, I’M COMIN FOR YA! 🤗

Good thing my cardio session is only 20 minutes!! 😂 . I used to be the CARDIO QUEEN!! Long gone are the days that I log intense cardio sessions in my workouts. I do, however, utilize low intensity cardio sessions on my regime. Those are great for burning fat! 🙌🏼 . Extended periods of high intensity cardio are actually counter intuitive to seeing results. I finally learned this lesson! Cortisol levels are raised and that leads to increased belly fat. If you feel like you’re over-doing it in your workouts, chances are, you probably are. Try taking it down a notch and see what happens?!🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you ever taken a fitness class❓ Years ago I would say hell no to taking a class😬 . 1) they intimidated me 2) I was so self conscious 3) I thought members were friends and I’d be the odd one out 4) I thought everyone knew the routines and I’d make an ass of myself . Years later my husband (bf at the time) encouraged me to take a class. I DID make an ass out of myself in the first 5 minutes 🤣 . Somehow this embarrassed self conscious brunette brought her ass back there two days later and took the same class again, minus drawing attention to myself 😛 . Each class I took was less intimidating I became less self conscious in class Yes many members are friends but they are not clicky and are very friendly to new faces I learned there is almost a new routine each class👌🏻 . 2 years later I went for my first certification. It’s one of the highlights of my day. I love the #hiit training, the #plyo and the body weight exercises. I also love that its one more way I get to share my love of #fitness with others💗 . I may love coaching some awesome peeps online through their fitness journeys📲 but I also love #sweating it out with members of my classes 🎤 . Urgh.....have NOT had a good week staying on track of excercise....too many fun Christmas events to attend and too much festive fun to have! Managed to squeeze in a quick 15km today before a Christmas movie and a snuggle on the sofa before bed....and that bloody elf!

KNOW - GYM MYTHS - Happy Monday guys! Hope you’re week gets off on the right foot. Keep your head on straight and don’t buy into these myths. - Meal frequency - It has been suggested that you need to eat x amount (usually suggested 6-8) meals a day to ‘keep your metabolism firing’. This isn't true, whether you eat 1 meal or 10 meals, if the total calories is the same by the end of the day there will be no difference to your body composition. - Fasted cardio - The theory that by doing this you burn more fat than if you were doing it in a fed state. Once again the truth is twisted and worded cleverly. Fasted cardio does burn more dietary fat, NOT body fat. So unfortunately it’s not burning the fat that you are after. There’s no harm in doing it but it’s not superior to fed state cardio. - Anabolic window - suggests you need to eat within 30 mins of training or all gains lost. Don’t stress! Just be sure to eat a decent balanced meal either before you train or sometime soon after. - Targeting fat - (spot reduction), this suggests that by working a certain muscle group more, the fat in that area is targeted. Not the case i’m afraid! People store body fat in different areas. The only way to get rid of the fat in those unwanted areas is to get your body fat percentage low enough. This can be achieved by eating in a calorie deficit for a prolonged period of time. - Carbs after ‪6pm‬ makes you fat - The bro scientists out there suggest that by eating late at night the food you eat gets stored as fat! Total calories consumed by the end of the day is all that matters. - Don’t stress about all the nitty gritty things. I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about how the “millennial generation” is never happy with their jobs and we’re always looking for the next best company to work for. This was being referred to in a negative way. . . Why is that a bad thing? Why do we feel like we have to suck it up and just do the job when there are endless possibilities out there and we can actually LOVE the life we create? . We’re no longer in a generation that gets a job and keeps that job for 50 years and I don’t necessarily feel like that’s a bad thing. #dowhatyoulove

I have NOT been motivated to do my workouts the past two days but guess what I still got up and got them done. One of my fave new spots 🙌🏼💖 . I don’t drink smoothies every day, but when I do I eat them as a special treat. My go to is anything WITHOUT artificial sugar from syrups... and I look for places that use only use REAL ingredients. While you never truly know where the food comes from, they do list ALL ingredients used and nutrition facts here which makes me feel super comfortable and confident in my order. .
