#tbtuesday if that’s a thing 🤷🏻‍♂️ To last years @bchalfseries Cypress Half Marathon when bro and I were sticking together injured and pretty much broken from random spots on are legs since we were crazy back then... (still are just a little bit 👌🏼) Repping the good old red and blue. I’m starting to get back into the training rhythm again so I’ll be out there, well probably early mornings and late nights but yeah. This is part of my running crew after finishing our Saturday Long run. I'm thankful for this great group of people, their friendships and all the miles we get to share on the roads. I've learned a lot from their discipline, persistence, advice and just by hanging with them. The Saturday run was a huge win for me, as I had been struggling with some lower leg pain in the calf area. I took a few days off, worked on my core strength and was able to tackle that 18 mile run at a good pace! “Running in the rain: exercise, therapy, and a shower...all at the same time.” 🏃🏻‍♀️🌧🤗 . . . Houston Marathon Training W8D1: 6 Recovery Miles . . . So maybe not the best idea..but when I started my run, it was a very light rain...but by the time I finished...it was a nice steady downpour of rain. And then with the windchill in the 40s, let’s just say I could hardly feel my hands by the end. 🥶 I started out with gloves, but it got to a point where they were soaked, so I just took them off. Once again, maybe not the best idea...🤦🏻‍♀️. Even with the rain, it wasn’t going to dampen my spirits because 1: I got to sleep in; 2: I got to run outside; 3: No school for a week! No big plans with my week off, other then to relax and enjoy the time off and getting to spend time with the fam. Oh, and probably do a little shopping too. Anyone else big Black Friday shoppers? “Mental toughness is when you can find fuel in an empty tank.” ⛽️🧠💪🏼 . . . This morning capped off the final leg of the Texas Bridge Series...of course they save the best race for last...hehe. I ran this race 4 years ago, and quite honestly, I didn’t remember the uphill portion of the bridge being so uphill...hehe 🌉🥵. It definitely showed with my paces, and then it really was evident that the incline took its toll because my legs were dead with about 3 miles left. I knew I couldn’t stop because it would have been so much harder to get myself going again. Even though that voice in my head was screaming to stop, I wasn’t going to have any of it. And yes, my pace for the last couple of miles were my slowest of the race, but I’m proud of myself that I didn’t stop and kept going until I finished. And with that finish, I earned my second fastest half marathon time and placed 1st in my AG and 12th OA female. I love running in the cold!!! I put this run off until the afternoon due to an early morning soccer game for my 9 yr old, but it was still only 42 degrees, real feel of 35! This weather makes me SO happy! Maybe it’s because I was born in Illinois, but I’ll take the cold over the heat any day. Today was 1 hour on my feet: 5 min walk; 15 min run X3 = 5.58 miles 10:49 avg pace. #sundayrunday #marathontraining #chevronhoustonmarathon #houstonmarathon2019

When will you realize Forest Park is a runner's Disneyland? . 10 miles to make it 58 miles for the week. It's not where it needs to be but the progress so far has been nice, and my legs felt pretty fresh today which is a good sign for the mileage to come. . Also was slightly hungover which never makes running miles easy.

So fitting that today’s run called for 13 miles because completing this run means I’m officially halfway through with this cycle of marathon training! “Pro”tip: Harry Potter on audiobook has made this cycle fly by! It’s been delightful to listen to these books and revisit my childhood love on the longer runs when I’m trying to keep an easy pace. The central message of that series is that love always wins. Hearing that play out as I run has been incredibly motivating and soothing when times get hard. I think this might become a tradition on the drive to St. Louis. A stop in Rocheport to run on the Katy trail (it's literally the only thing to do in Rocheport). Consistency and routine are amazing things, it makes it so when you have a bad week, like last week for me, or a week where you feel off - you can get back on the horse so easily. I had an extra off day and a day where I barely ran last week because of how anxious I was feeling... But this week has been a night and day difference. . How's your week been?

I’ve come to realize that the recovery and easy days aren’t the most exciting. In fact, sometimes I feel like I’d rather just skip them altogether....however, I know they serve a purpose. “You are confined only by the walls you you build yourself.” 💯 . . . Houston Marathon Training W7D4: 8 Mile Tempo • 2⬆️ • 8 miles @ 7:40 pace • 2⬇️ . . . First 8 mile tempo run of this training cycle and I decided to increase my pace slightly. After the paces I was able to run this past Saturday, going a little faster than my previous tempo runs gave me confidence that I would be able to keep the tempo. You know your run is going well when the miles seem to fly by. And I’m glad they did because my earbuds died about a mile in...so I worked on my lip reading today...lol. Even though this is only week 7 of my training cycle, I feel like I have already improved in the last 6 1/2 weeks. I’m not sure how I would’ve done with this tempo run when I started. I know I shouldn’t get ahead of myself, but I am excited to see where I can go from here over the next 10 weeks. You know what else I’m excited about? 1 more day until Thanksgiving Break!! Friday at 3:30 can’t get here fast enough!! 🤪😁 . . .
