Meet Gina from YogaHara who will be teaching at the Bendigo Yoga Festival. Gina's Yoga journey began in the late 80s as a student and she has been teaching since 2009. Over her years of practice she discovered that there is no one style that best suits her body all the time and it is this philosophy that she brings to her teaching, giving her students the benefit of her combined influences to discover how best to work with their own body and mind to achieve their lifestyle goals. For added intensity, you can use your arm on that side to guide your head further down. 🙆‍♂️ (Keep it gentle- if you feel a pinch stop!) 3. Hold for 30 seconds. (It’s longer than you think- keep holding.) Remember to breathe! Relax further into the stretch with each exhale. 4. Pick your chin up first and then slowly turn back to center. Meet Karina who will be teaching at the Bendigo Yoga Festival in March. Karina lives in Woodend with her husband and two children. Karina has just returned from living (a lifestyle change) in Hoi An, Vietnam where she taught (in very warm humid climate) Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga to backpackers, travellers and hotel guests. She has been practising yoga since 2011. Yoga initially at first was just a way to spice up her fitness routine and de-stress but little did she know, it would change the course of her life. Her husband, Chris played local Australian Rules Football in Victoria for 25 years and is now a keen yogi over the last 2 years. He always says “I wish I started yoga in my teen’s while playing footy”. Karina’s classes are about strength, opening the heart and “getting the heart rate going” which is why, she loves teaching Ashtanga and Vinyasa. The Ashtanga Basic class is slower and more detailed version of the regular Ashtanga. Ideal for yoga beginners, those new to the Ashtanga practice, as well as those wishing to deepen their practice though better understanding of the Ashtanga system. The great health benefits of this practise is an increasing concentration and perception in the body. Ashtanga is also good for those who need cardiovascular activity as the movements can be done quickly and practice can effectively increase the heart rate. Ashtanga yoga also works very well in relieving stress, burning fat, toning and strength in muscles as well as increasing flexibility. Karina’s background/qualifications is 200 Hours Yoga Teaching Training, Teaching English (TESOL) and 25 years working in Real Estate industry.

I am sharing this for the sheer fact that this is me today. I need to move. Get my booty in gear in another way, but this. This is where I am. Physically and mentally. . The problem is I can’t stay in this position. It’s #workwednesday over here. (Yes, I theme my days all kinds of ways. 😉) It will happen. Motivation will come. With the intense energy of the full moon, we need to keep ourselves well grounded and anchored. We need to take care of our root chakra. Beside affirming, "I am divine being of light, and I am peaceful,protected and secure." Make sure to daily ground yourself: -Every morning, before leaving your house or starting your day, you take 2 minutes to visualize a purple bubble of light all around your body and zip it like you zip your coat from toe to top and affirm: I choose to keep my energy intact today. -Ground yourself daily by walking barefoot even if with socks. When in nature walk barefoot, hug trees, lay down on the grass, play with the soil... - Yoga Postures: Mountain pose, tree pose and child pose are great for grounding yourself. I went to work today full of intentions. To do better. To be better. To find my place within the team. To understand what was expected of me. I was pretty happy with myself during the day. And then at the end of it, my director wanted a private talk with me. What was it about? I was told that I'm being to professional and that I need to keep it to my place as an intern. That I was to confident in myself. Like it's a bad thing. She nearly spit it like it something to be ashamed of. She told me to keep low, keep quiet, don't take actions and follow the others without asking questions. Oh dear. I'm so angry. Tonight practice is all about surrender and love.
