Who is going to climb Mount Whitney this year? ⛰️🚶 Ansel Adams' birthday was this week. In honor of him, I thought I'd try a Sierra Nevada Black and White. . . . Had a stellar time at Mt Baker this week. Looking forward to going back and exploring some other areas when the snow level is a little higher (and the roads clearer). . . . . #mtbaker #washington #mountains #landscape #photography #choosemountains #explore #getoutside #outdoors #outside #nature #naturelovers #backcountry #skiing #telemark #freeheel #rei1440project #neverstopexploring #wildernessculture #pnw #pnwonderland #instamood #instagood #picoftheday #photooftheday

Coastin’ through the week

All this snow has me itching to get some backcountry time! This was taken a couple of years ago while hiking up the Gray's & Torreys peak road to the summer trailhead. We we're going to summit and snowboard back down but when we woke up, the avalanche danger was too high. It was fun either way though!

Today I said farewell to my 20's. Significant birthdays are not so simple, but I visited one my favorite spots on Monday to celebrate and felt such gratitude. I am happy that I listened to the little voice at every junction that demanded to be heard. Above all, I am grateful for every step that brought me to stand above Cle Elum Lake, on a snowy February day and feel incandescently happy as I begin a new decade and new chapter. This evening brings a dinner with my love and I am looking forward to the Little Tin tomorrow night with my favorite people. I can fairly confidently claim 30 is going to be the best year yet... . . . . . . . #pnwonderland #rei1440project #outdoorwomen #mountaingirls #goatworthy #wanderwashington #womenwhohike #womenwhoexplore #sheexplores #forceofnature #alpinebabes #throughthepines #herpnwlife #alphacollective #seeyououtthere #sheadventures #mountainchicks #hikehappy #pnwoutdoorwomen #livewylder #sweatyhappydirty #andshesdopetoo #sheadventures #stayandwander #choosemountains #dirtbagdarling

Nothing beats hitting those peaks for the perfect run in the fresh pow 🏂 get your head in the clouds . . . .

Winter weather is certainly a tricky bastard up here. Could be worse 🙂

I’d rather see this than the nasty snow 🤮❄️🌨

What kind of dog is this?

Have you ever wanted to give someone you didn’t know a gigantic hug and say, “thank you”? That’s exactly how I felt after hiking this trail last week. : I had gotten up early last Saturday to catch the sunrise while hiking. I set out to hike Siphon Draw but once I saw what lied before me I didn’t want to turn back. I hadn’t eaten much that morning and didn’t sleep much the night before. I was feeling a bit sluggish but decided to push through it. I started out running, within the first 1/4 of a mile I had tripped and slid on the rocky terrain like a baseball player sliding into home. I got up, dusted myself off and shook off the pain. I was scraped, bruised and sore but determined to keep going. I took in the new trail and scenery with exuberance. The unknown beauty ahead propelled me forward. The views on top were nothing short of breathtaking. On the hike down fatigue set in. After 3 1/2 hrs I had reached the parking lot. I was ecstatic to see my car, hungry and exhausted I was ready for a break. I had conquered 6.2 miles and climbed over 2,933 ft. I had pushed myself to my limit only to find out I had dropped my keys somewhere on the trail 🤢. I was immediately sick to my stomach. I knew there was no way I physically had it in me to hike this trail again to look for them. On top of all this, I drove to Az and would need my keys to drive back home. At that very moment an angel 👼 showed up dressed as a park ranger driving a golf cart. I waved her down and asked her if anyone had turned in a set of keys. She walkie talkie down to the gate to see is anyone had. The lady at the gate said that someone had indeed turned in a set of keys with an orange and green keychain. Wahoo, they were my keys with my Zion’s NP keychain. The change in feelings from despair 😩 to relief ☺️ was immediate. The sweet park ranger kindly gave me a ride to grab my keys, saving me from walking an extra mile or so. 💕 I don’t know who turned my keys in that day but I sure wish I did. I wish that I could hug 🤗 him, her or them and express my gratitude for their help in saving my butt that day. This picture will always be a beautiful reminder of the day I was saved by a complete stranger.

With about 2 and a half hours left to reach the summit after hiking 6 hours through the night, I felt awful. You can totally tell by the flattering photos of me here. 😆I don't know how many tears I left on Kilimanjaro but I would say 90% of those tears were out of feeling so overwhelmed by the presence of God...especially when I couldn't stand. By this point, my legs were shaking (from exhaustion, not the cold.) I knew I was walking by His grace and strength alone. It was His breath in my lungs and His angels carrying me through. Also, notice how I am also not carrying my pack. My friend, Siggy, was. I have learned to let go of things, (people, places, worries, hopes and dreams) not because they were particularly bad, but because they were heavy. We can't make it where God wants to lead us if we aren't willing to let some things go. This is one of many lessons I learned in Tanzania. I seriously want to write a book! 🤣But for now, I have a second t-shirt I am hoping to release in the next few days so I can continue to fundraise a bit more for TTF. I hope to share that with you very soon! 😊 And thank you guys for continuing to follow my journey. 💛
