When I was in my teens through my early 30’s, I was a nihilist who used to suffer through deep stages of depression and alcoholism. Now, as I approach 40, I wish I had known then the genuine peace that my current faith in God gives me now. Do not allow doubt, fear, or anger hold you hostage. This is your life, the one God created specifically for you. Know that, understand the sacrifice made so you could live life and live it abundantly, and know true peace. #godfirst #jesus #christ #word #biblestudy #messiah #righteous #gospel #truth #blessed #light #amen #love #life #bjj #bjjlifestyle #jiujitsu #brazilianjiujitsu

What’s at the center of your focus today? Is it family? Is it work? Is it stress? Sometimes we don’t even realise that everyday things move Jesus from the center of our thoughts to the side line. Keeping Jesus at the center of our thoughts in all things keeps the rest of our thoughts inline and in perspective. Xx

Repost @biblically_minded ・・・ The Word of God teaches truth and we are to be united behind that truth. Yes, there are disagreements and disputes in Christian theology. Yes, there is freedom to disagree on the non-essentials of Christian theology. At the same time, there is much that Christians should be united over. A biblically-based Christian theology will enable us to better understand God, salvation, and our mission in this world. The reason there are different denominations within Christianity is because the Bible allows for us to have differences of opinions.  Within Christianity there are few essential doctrines that define what it means to be a Christian.  These essential doctrines are, 1) Jesus is both God and man (John 1:1, 14; 8:24; Col. 2:9; 1 John 4:1-4). 2) Jesus rose from the dead physically (John 2:19-21; 1 Cor. 15:14). 3) Salvation is by grace through faith (Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8-9; Gal. 3:1-2). 4) The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Gal. 1:8-9). 5) There is only one God (Exodus 20:3; Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8). 6) God exists as a Trinity of persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 7) Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary (nature of incarnation). 8) Repent and believe the gospel (Mark 1:15) As long as a church believes in these essential doctrines, then it is Christian.  However, there are many things in the scriptures that have been interpreted in different ways.  For example, on what day of the week should we worship, Saturday or Sunday?  Should we baptize by sprinkling or baptize by immersion?  Do we take communion every Sunday, once a month, or once a year? The answers to these questions do not affect whether or not someone is a Christian. It is in these issues, and others like them, that denominations are formed. It does not mean that one denomination contradicts another. It means that though they agree in the essentials, they differ in some nonessentials. This is permitted in Scripture: (continues in comments👇) #christianity #christian #faith #bible #jesuschrist #christ #holysprit #holy #baptist #gospel #grace #theology #calvinist #god

| The Search for a Spouse – Part 4 • Once again, this will benefit you the most by reading Parts 1-3 if you haven’t already done so. And even if you have, you might as well go re-read to catch back up. If you are believing God for a spouse (or anything for that matter, because this will work for anything) this was my journey and I hope it will help you. • This will be the final part (for now). I was now at a place where I had actively “believed I received”, and that meant I didn’t need to ask anymore, because I believe He heard me and granted my request. Whenever I thought about a spouse, I just said “thank you Lord I have her”. • God told me to do something that looked like it had no connection to what I was believing for. After I was obedient to what He told me, God had me positioned to meet my wife. • When I first got connected with Analisa, I was in a place where I was not “looking” at all. In fact, I was fine with the thought that I may get married in my 30s (which would have been a nightmare to me in my early 20s). I was completely satisfied with where I was and being single. In fact, I rarely thought about being alone anymore. Here is the point… if you think you won’t be happy until you have someone else, you are kidding yourself. • So here is the last thing you need : INTENTIONALITY • When I met Analisa I was so intentional from day 1. I think sometimes we are worried we will scare someone off if we come off too strong. I was looking for a wife, not a girlfriend. If what I talked about scared her off, then she wasn’t the right one. I wasn’t scared to talk about anything and what I expected (I brought up how many kids I wanted the first week). • So, when you are believing God, and have released your faith. You thank God from that moment on and then choose to be happy. Choose to enjoy your season. If you KNOW they are coming, then why are you worried? Just rest and enjoy the wait. And then when they come, be INTENTIONAL from the first conversation, don’t be afraid to scare them off and don’t compromise what God has put in you heart.

. #heidegger says that language is the house of being, and #tillich says that the ground of being is nothingness itself, a zero that gives birth eternally. #mcluhan states that all words are metaphors (I like #guydeutscher's phrase too: "language is made of a reef of dead metaphors"). For #ernestograssi, metaphor (language) is the product of human ingenuity in an attempt to answer to the chaos of the Unknown (with adorn, "Ornatus", or order) which causes us anxiety. We infuse dead things (figure/form) with vitality (ground/expression). For #wittgenstein words are deeds. Through gesture, a stumbling, a waltz🎶 towards the Void which we can't escape. And by conquering anxiety we become a spark beyond physical death (Psalm 119:105). If we truly are pierrots, sad clowns wearing our ego/personality to mask (out of necessity, Grassi would say) the anxiety of existing (behind the mask is #christ, the ultimate extension of man, according to McLuhan), the despair of the inherent meaninglessness within us as we look into the Unknown as "the Ultimate Other", then getting our act together (and knowing it is an act) is enlightenment; it is the act of responding (oughtness/Love), Heidegger's readiness-to-hand, #bakhtin's carnivalesque performance, which closes the gap between the Abyss and us, much in the same way an artist fills a canvas. Through the finished frame we gain life beyond death. Lemme finish before I keep using other people's words and go on to use other people's images lol. These are the final images of one of my favorite short films, "Juillet Éléctrique" by #remibigot. A film that constantly reminds me what life is supposed to be. #forweaving

There is an essential difference between the decease of the godly and the death of the ungodly. Death comes to the ungodly man as a penal infliction, but to the righteous as a summons to his Father's palace. To the sinner it is an execution, to the saint an undressing from his sins and infirmities. Death to the wicked is the King of terrors. Death to the saint is the end of terrors, the commencement of glory. ~Charles Spurgeon #christianity #christian #faith #bible #jesuschrist #christ #holysprit #holy #baptist #gospel #grace #theology #calvinist #god

Limited atonement is the teaching within Calvinism which states that Jesus only bore the sins of the elect (those chosen for salvation by God) and that He did not bear the sins of every individual who has ever lived. Christ bore the sin only of the elect, and legally paid their sin debt, and not the sin debt of everyone who ever lived, (Col. 2:14; Rom. 6:6; John 10:15, 26, Matt 1:21). Jesus said in John 10:15 that he laid his life down for the sheep. Furthermore in John 10:26 Jesus said that people did not believe because they are not his sheep. The argument goes that if Jesus lays his life down for the sheep and there are people who were not his sheep, then he did not lay his life down for those who are not his sheep. These elected sheep are the same ones Jesus said were given to Him by the Father in order that He would fulfill the Father’s will by losing none of them and by raising all of them up in the last day (John 6:37-40). The truth that Jesus came for this specific reason is seen in both the Old and New Testaments. One of the greatest passages on the atonement in the Old Testament is Isaiah 53. In this passage alone, we see that He was “stricken for the transgression of God’s people” (Isaiah 53:8); that He would “justify many” because “He shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:11); and that He indeed “bore the sin of many” (Isaiah 53:12). These verses and many others talk about an atonement that was specific in whom it covered (God’s people), was substitutionary in nature (He actually bore their sins on the cross), and actually accomplished what God intended it to do (justify many). Clearly, here is a picture of an intentional, definite atonement. Christ died not simply to make justification a possibility but to actually justify those He died for. He died to save them, not to make them savable. Dosamu Telah Diampuni . • • ⛪️ #jesusfreak #christainlife #toptags #inspirations #christian #biblical #amen #church #blessed #followerofchrist #prayer #grace #inspiration #faith #jesuschrist #bible #christlike #christ #pray #god #cross #christianity #fellowship #inspirational #godsnotdead #salvation #godisgood
