The lower body twist is a gentle exercise that stretches the spine and lumbar area. This can be performed as a ab exercise to strengthen the obliques aswell known as windshield wipers. However, always consult your doctor before you perform lower body twists if you suffer from a chronic back pain or hip pain. . How To.. Lay down onto your back, raise your knees up, stick your arms out straight. This will help you keep your balance when performing the stretch. Keeping both shoulders on the ground, gently lean your legs one way until they’re touching the ground. Rest them at the bottom for 3sec and then gently bring them back to the start, and lean them to the other side. #obliquesonfleek 👊🏽 This has easily become another one of my favorite oblique exercises. One of the top goals I hear from women are “I want those two lines around my abs”. Those two lines are your obliques! While abs & obliques are made in the kitchen, we can still strengthen that muscle, assisting in muscle definition. I usually try & dedicate 5-15 minutes training abs & obliques each workout! - HOW TO: 1️⃣ Machine Used: Back Extension 2️⃣ Start of using simply bodyweight. When you’re ready for some resistance add a band, plate, or dumbbell. 3️⃣ Make sure when adjusting the height of the machine, it hits your hip area. 4️⃣ Stand tall with one side of your hip against the padding. Stack your feet on top of each other. (As you perform the exercise, that top leg will usually bend, but try to keep it as straight as possible to ensure you are pulling up with your obliques rather than legs) 5️⃣ Place your arm where you find it comfortable (back of head, across chest, on sides, etc) 6️⃣ When lowering down, you’ll feel a stretch across your obliques. Try to get as far down as possible. I always remind myself “slow on the way down, explode up!” Repeat for 15-20 reps each side.

Vejo muito esse exercício nas academias! Me pergunto se quem prescreveu pensou em todas variáveis? A posição em pé há mais compressão no disco da coluna do que as posições em decúbito (deitada), soma-se a isso mais sobrecarga que carregará em pelo menos uma das mãos. Outro ponto, é que o ângulo de inclinação lateral do tronco é pequeno em relação ao vetor de incidência da gravidade sobre esse exercício, ou seja, terá que pegar bastante peso pra compensar a pouca ação da gravidade sobre o exercício... Aumentando ainda mais a compressão discal... Conclusão: Muuuuito mais prejuízos do que benefícios!!! However there’s plenty of flaws to talk about. Every rep should be kept tight with that tension loaded into my #hamstrings, shoulders #retracted, deep breath, one movement, hips and shoulders raise at the same time, #barbell coming up the body. You can see this weird thing I used to do with my knees, the slight bend meant I was (unintentionally) trying to get under the bar to help pull it up and loosing tension rather than pushing the floor away by staying ridged.
