I just recently discovered we have lots of hummingbirds In the country. I put out two hummingbird feeders, and these little guys did not disappoint me in showing up. In Native American history, they symbolize healing, good luck, joy and love. I am not sure if it counts if we coax them to our porch with food, but I think we could all definitely use more of that in his world. #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwannabe #countrygirlwanttobe #countrylife #hummingbird #hummingbirdfeeder #dollartree #hummingbird_moments #hummingbirdphotography #love #kindness #worldneedsmorelove

With all the rain that we have been getting, I found these in a ditch that leads to a pond. Apparently, the rain has exposed them. I have no idea what they could be... I can’t ever remember even looking for the sunset in the suburbs, but in the country, the view of sunset is a treat! Each sunset is uniquely beautiful, and it has reminded me to take a moment to be thankful for the blessings of the day! #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #countrygirlwannabe #countrysunset #countrylife #wideopenspaces #sunset #simplicity #simplepleasures #blessings #thankful #sunsetblessings #sunrisesunburnsunsetrepeat

Living in the country, I have learned a few things about myself. I love trees, I like to set logs and sticks on fire, and I really love myself some boots! Actually, I don’t think I have ever met a pair of boots that I didn’t like as I now own Copperhead snake boots, a few pairs of rubber boots, work boots, more than a few pairs of cowboy boots (uh, I am a Texan) and we inherited this nifty Scrusher boot brush attached to our wraparound porch when we bought the ranch which is incredibly useful. I think I might have reached the point where I now have more boots than high heels, and I would think that puts me well on my way to qualify for my country girl card.... #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #countrygirlwannabe #countrygirlcard #boot #bootaddiction #cowboyboots #workboots #rubberboots #snakeboots #cavenders #cabelas #tractorsupplyco #carhartt #scrusher #bootscraper #bootbrush #idontthinkyoucanhavetoomanyboots

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas! Picnic lunch today surrounded by things that I love the most! This spot just can’t take a bad picture ever! Same as my profile pic with the addition of a few new things! It is one of my favorite and most beautiful spots on our land with gorgeous weather, a new picnic table, an assortment of good food, variety of ice cold drinks, an outdoor ground blanket, some fishing poles, an ATV, and some of my favorite people! #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #countrylife #mothersday #simplethings #simplethingsinlife #peace #relaxing #love #grateful #blessed #surroundedbythingsilove #atv #fishing #fishingpoles #fishwerebiting #outdoorblanket #wisheverydaywaslikethis

This is Cyclops. We thought a good, used riding mower would be a step up from our push mower, and it would get us by for now. We got a great deal because of a little “cosmetic damage”. Apparently mama had bumped it with the car and cracked the front and messed up the light, but it runs and mows fine. We just need to mow 2 acres around the house and outside the front and side perimeter fence of our 65 acres. We are learning fast that the basic equipment for a ranch needs to be commercial, and it quickly adds up into the thousands! Chainsaw, weed eater, trailer and mower are the firsts on the list. Surprisingly, I now kinda drool everytime I pass by the John Deere or New Holland stores that I never noticed before. But then again, I guess we will need to put a shop to store it in on the list. A whole new appreciation for how much ranchers and farmers have to spend on their equipment and supplies. #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #countrylife #ranch #rancher #ranchlife #farm #farmlife #mower #craftman #gottostartsomewhere #makingithappen #tractors #idreamoftractors #howmuchisashop?#ineedtoplantamoneytree #ihaveplentyofroomformoneytrees #theviewisworthit

To be honest, I had only one reservation about moving to the country.....SNAKES! I consider myself a little more fearless than others, but I am petrified of snakes! Anything that can move as fast as they can without arms and/or legs is freaking scary, and they always seem to be hiding somewhere from you, so you are extra “surprised” when you discover them. I bought expensive snake boots that don’t match a thing in my wardrobe and I naturally invented hand signals to let my family know when I have come upon one because I can’t even talk even if it’s dead. I accidentally hit one with the mower and had snake segments in all directions...snake confetti everywhere. On another occasion, I decided to stop and just face my fear of snakes, and I made myself kill one (yes, PETA people, he was poisonous and I have never killed anything besides bugs), and well, yeah.....I can say that “face your fears” bit doesn’t really work. #country #countrylife #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #venomoussnakes. #scaredofsnakes #snakeboots #cabelas #cabelascopperheadsnakeboots #fearofsnakes #snakeconfetti #copperhead #hersheykisses #girldancinginthefielditsreallyasnake

“I wasn’t born in the country, but I got here as soon as I could”. For as long as I can remember, I have daydreamed and had dreams in my sleep of simply living in the country. Dreaming of a field can symbolize your need for freedom, and your need to embrace Mother Nature. Upon moving to the country, it seems everyone we meet out here asks where we are from, and upon learning we are from the suburbs, they all respond the same...”we know why you have moved here” which makes my heart smile because I don’t really know the exact reason. Ironically some of my suburban friends were very surprised when we bought the ranch, and I have heard a few gasps...”uh, but you aren’t the least bit country”, but I assure them that there is something deep inside of me that is. I can just feel it. I am still not sure what “it” is exactly, but I know it has something to do with the peace, quiet, privacy, views of beautiful nature in all directions, fresh air, no rooftops, no close neighbors, and the best sleep that I have had in years (with no dreams of living in the city or suburbs). #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #countrytherapy #countrydreams #field #fieldsofdreams #dreamingoffields #freedom #heartsdesire #rejunvenation #fieldofflowers #sleepingbeauty #icantbelieveilivehere. #thankful #blessed #itsagodthing

One of the best things about the country is that we have more trees than we can count, and there are several 100 to 200 year old massive trees that have been just left to grow untouched for generations. They are AMAZING! The beauty of so many different kinds randomly grouped together, the calmness and peace they provide especially when they enable you to hear a light breeze, the quality of the country air they produce, and the sheltering by means of the huge amount of dense shade from the Texas sun is just something you don’t find in your suburbia yard. In the past two weeks, the trees have sprouted their leaves, and this huge oak tree is hands down my favorite. I never thought of myself as a “tree hugger”, but I think living in the country amongst them converts you! #country #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #countrylife #countryair #countrytrees #trees #oldtrees #oaktree #ilovetrees #calmtrees #peacetrees #treelovers #treehugger #iwouldcryifmytreeswerecutdown

We inherited this tractor when we bought the ranch. My first thought: A heavy piece of rust junking up my country land. I don’t understand how so many country properties get cluttered with so many no longer used rusted items. Are they still getting tax benefits, does the machinery just die and there’s a unwritten country code to just leave it where it stopped working, or is there not a country dump or junkyard nearby to take it to? Not that I care about everybody’s country property because I can’t really see many other properties from ours, but there is definitely no HOA in our neighborhood! Upon discovering the background of this tractor, I think I lost a little more of my “suburbs” and gained a little more “country.” The previous owner generously bought it from the widow of a friend who lived nearby. Because he just left it with the property, it is obvious his main intention of his purchase was to help the widow, and I think he honors his friend by displaying near the main road. After hearing the story and climbing up and just sitting upon it, the tractor has become a little magical, and second thought: I think I kinda love this rusted thing. From my research, I believe it is a 1953 McCormick Farmall C. I don’t think I have ever sat on a tractor until now, and I look forward to getting one that we can use! This tractor looks like it would be a blast to drive. Final thought: We have plenty of room in our yard for this oversized inherited rusted lawn ornament. Afterall, it symbolizes that love and kindness still exists in the world. #country #countrylife #countryliving #countrygirl #countrygirlwanttobe #tractor #redtractor #antique #antiquetractor #mccormick #farmall #farmalltractors #rustedmetal #rustedmetalart #rustedlawnornament #nohoa #iwanttodriveatractor #love #kindness #kindnessrocks #loveandkindness.
