WE ARE NOT DONE YET!!! Made it to St. John's today with a short ride in the pouring rain and 12 degree weather! It was one of the toughest days of the trip! Compounded by riding one of the fine trails here... 😆 Tomorrow we finish the trip with a very very hilly ride to Cape Spear the eastern most point in North America and the end of the road for our crazy adventure! #andrewandvanessaxcanada #bikepackcan #bikewander #powerofbicycles #cycletouring

Day 352. 12264 km. Distance 56 km. In prevision of the terrible uphill waiting for us, we decided this morning to have this extra delight, a bit of joy and a lot of blood sugar. And we get it right, because we suffered all afternoon with the climb! But let’s keep in memory this smile and the taste of the double creme melting in your mouth! . . . . . . #margeonabike #fromcanadatoargentina #cycletouring #cycle #pedalpower #yourroads #bikewander #adventurecycling #biketrip #bolivia #lifebehindsbars #bikelikeagirl #roadtrip #southamerica #bici #bicicleta #bicyclelicious #bicyclelife #uphill #suffer #delight #extra #smile #taste #sugar

🚵🏽‍♀️ Yes, it’s not about the distance it’s about the journey. But some numbers are a bit too exciting. . 5000km mark

Stage 12: 47 miles (952 miles total) With riding 8+ hours a day the past week, I was looking forward to taking a day off and hiking in Glacier (west side).. but that didn't happen. There are forest fires that currently block Going to the Sun road and potentially risk shutting down Highway 2 so I had to make sure I got across... and I'm still here to write this update! The smoke makes it a bit hazy but it doesn't really seem to affect air quality (or at least that I notice). This trip is pretty lit.... 🚲🔥⛺ #pedaltheperimeter #ridethedivide

110km on day 1, and a nice spot overlooking a lake. From Carleton Place to Perth was a bit tricky and I did a stint on Highway 15 - not a great idea. It has a very narrow shoulder and a lot of traffic making it frustrating for drivers as well as cyclists. If you were driving on the 15 today, thanks for not running me over! #explore #biketouring #touring #cycletouring #camping #mec #marmot #fun #longday #hardworkworthit

From Ottawa to Carleton Place is a pretty nice ride along the Great Canadian Trail. It's flat, smooth, and straight. The only downside is that it covers everything in a fine white dust. #explore #biketouring #touring #cycletouring #ottawa #carletonplace #bikes #dirty #dirtybikes #mec

Sometimes I liken myself to a chameleon. Finding common ground with people I meet and changing my external to best suit the situation. Sometimes I do it for safety, sometimes to fit in. But more often then not I do it because it feels great to share with people. A way to connect. A friend told me this is fine as long as it's real! Don't we all have things in common #cycletour #cycletouring #bikepacking #bicycle #travel #explore #pedaltheglobe #adventure #life #canada #toronto #ontario #raptors #chameleon #surly #lht #msr #brooks #ortlieb #sealskinz #schwalbe #nature #jungle #desert #mountain #lakeontario #concretejungle

Traveling is like spreading your web over the map. Getting a flavour for each place you connect to. Giving you a better understanding of the world we live and share as its entity. There's some places I never really thought about visiting. Until one day I'm cycling along and I see it's not that far and kind of on the way. And a few pedals later and I have arrived. #cycletour #cycletouring #bikepacking #bicycle #travel #explore #pedaltheglobe #adventure #life #canada #toronto #ontario #raptors #surly #lht #brooks #ortlieb #msr #sealskinz #schwalbe #nature #jungle #desert #mountain #lakeontario #concretejungle #graffitialley #streetart #graffiti

Officially my last photo shared from Tajikistan, taken on our last day or riding. My experience here in Central Asia has been one of utter amazement and has left me filled with only good feelings about the countries and the people, and has already ignited a desire to make my way back here at some point in the future. Unfortunately, Tajikistan was the chosen location for a group of terrorists to launch an attack on a group of foreign cyclists and, very sadly, this has sent a lot of people into a spiral of ignorant ranting about a country about which they apparently know nothing. The people in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have been among the friendliest, warmest and most welcoming people I have ever met. Both of these countries are incredibly poor and the people have very little, yet somewhow I've been shown more generosity and willingness to give and share than I have experienced in any other country. I have nothing but good things to say about this part of the world and truly hope that more people add Central Asia into their "places to visit" list. A trip here is one you won't regret or forget. Thank you, Tajikistan, for creating a perfect ending to a really special trip. It's been Oblast 😁 #cycletour #cycletouring #biketour #biketouring #bikewander #keeprolling #getoutthere #goseethings #goexplore #travel #bikepacking #adventurecycling #cycleabout #tripbicycle #bikelife #instabike #tajikistan #pamirhighway #centralasia #gbao #mountains

Dillion has a touch of the University town feel, being home to the University of Montana, Western. Campus grounds are very nice. Pic is of Main Hall, University of Montana, Western. Kyrgyzstan (15 July 2018) We had finally reached the end of the beautiful Ala Bel Pass (3175m) and it was time to cruise downhill. However as we started our descent the skies opened and we were drenched. Cold and with wet socks and clothes the downhill became miserable and we knew we needed to find shelter. Soon after taking this picture we happened upon an abandoned house which we ran into and set up for the night. We hung a clothes line overhead and hunddled together reading. We had an awful night's sleep because it turns out the house creeped us out more than we expected. Despite all this we were happy we stopped. It meant that we were dry and would be better able to enjoy the downhill the next day... and what a downhill it turned out to be! #kyrgyzstan #cycletouring #oliverlooksout ##bikewander #biketouring #downhill #rain #cycling #rollingon2 #oliverlooksout @ohphotosa

First time on the Panamericana! After seven days on minor and gravel roads we ride on this legendary road. Luckily there was not to much traffic and there was a shoulder. The new tires, we get in Amsterdam from @pascalesimone_ are rolling perfectly🙏. #spyonbike#worldbybike#cycletouring#bicycletouring#pinguonbike#warmshowers#bikewander#cyclinglife#vannicholas#biketouring#travelbybike#cycletour#biketravel#bicycletrip#pedalforever#adventurecycling#adventurebybike#rohloff#cyclingadventures#neverstopexploring#biketour#biketravel#cyclinglife#cycletheworld#ecuador #cycleecuador#panamericana

Our bags are packed and our bikes loaded. Our 8 month cycling trip has officially come to an end and it has been beyond anything I could have imagined. Day 111, 6899km, Karaj Iran. Ramin and I set off again this morning in his car, but this time we had a mission to cross the Alborz mountains and reach the Caspian sea. The contrast in weather and scenery was incredible. First, on the south side of the mountains, it was hot and dry with very little in the way of trees and shrubbery. I've become used to this over the past month or so travelling through Turkey and Iran, but after a short break by a river for some breakfast we reached a long tunnel. When we came out the other side, we entered the Mazandaran province and we were immediately enveloped in the clouds. As we came down the other side, it felt as though we'd entered another world. A world of moisture and cloud and green trees everywhere. It felt a little like coming home except that it was still a bit too warm. We continued through the mountains to the coast, but by the time we got there the rain started lashing from the sky. We hopped on a gondola to bring us to the top of a mountain that has a view of the city and sea below, but with an overcast and rainy sky, there was nothing to see, except for the long line to get back on the gondola where we had to queue for an hour 🤦 When we got back to the car we grabbed some coffee and headed straight for home, but the bad traffic meant we had a 6 hour journey and didn't arrive back till almost midnight. Still, it was a lovely drive through the mountains with amazing views so all was not lost.

Get up early. Climb mountain pass (Big Hole Pass). Check out the vista in the valley (the pic is a view of the Pioneer Range looking East). Climb another pass (Badger Pass). Crawl into campground exhausted and dissolve into several beers. Job done. Tomorrow? Rinse repeat 🙃.
