Doing more than you’ve done before. - We have endless online resources (most of it free) of almost everything you need to learn, lift and progress. - Commit to the process. Find a program and Spend time under a barbell. Don’t waste countless hours searching and worrying about finding the “optimal” program. More importantly optimize the program you choose to follow. Individualize your movement selection, specificity, work capacity, and account for your training history. What have you done before? Everyone reacts slightly different to a given stimulus. - Track weekly volume and fatigue as it will allow you to see if you need more or less. This isn’t a absolute but a good place to start as we build baselines. - If you need a coach, hire one that will assist in achieving your short and long term goals. Determine realistic expectations and develop a understanding for their decision making. This is important for creating a successful training environment. - Doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a advanced athlete, consistency and frequency are key components to any progression. My only regret is that I spent so long training without a belt. Let me be clear that I’m not using a belt as a means to prevent injury, correct movement is easy enough to achieve and is more than enough to stop someone from ‘breaking their back’. . A belt is a tool that shouldn’t be misjudged. Why is it that heavy compounds are the best way to build muscle naturally? Because it makes overloading the muscles safe and easy (in terms of progression and technicality). . A belt allows 2 things to happen. First, it allows higher levels of intra-abdominal pressure, allowing more weight to be lifted, especially on hip hinging movements, making the main mover muscles work harder. Second it allows greater muscular activation of the core(abs, obliques, erectors), building a stronger base for future belted and beltless training. . Day 18: later lift then usual. But this is where I go to release my stress and boy have I been stressed the F out these past few days, but I feel better every time I pull that 500. Squat I worked up to 425 and it moved really easy, but 445 looked like I didn’t even try 🤷🏼‍♂️ then I pulled 500 for 3 singles! . A little late on this post tonight. But here's Wednesday's workout for my current training program. SWIPE for the full workout. No sound again on these, just to be safe no clip gets taken down. ----- Deadlifts: 1x5 Squats: 5x3 DB Walking Lunges: 3x5 steps each way Pull Ups: 2x8, 1xMax Reps "Prone" Rows: 3x10 EZ Bar Curls: 3x10 Hammer Curls: 3x10-12 Calf Raises: 3x10 ----- Just a lil side note, the reason I'm performing squats in this set and rep range with a much lower weight than my heavy sets, is because sometimes i feel a little "slow" out of the hole on my last set of my heavy squats. I'm focusing on 5 sets of 3 fast reps with not too much rest. Also deadlifts are fun.
