📽700x5 PR (318kg) ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Heavy deadlift session from a little over 2 weeks ago. Deloaded before starting this current training block. Had this number in my head to hit for a while now. Probably one or two more reps in the tank. Was in a time crunch, so I finished with a bunch of cluster set singles at 495 every :30 for 10 total sets. Rolling into meet prep with a really solid foundation with all 3 lifts. Definitely my strongest starting point. Have some big numbers I want to hit next time I step on the platform. Strength seminar alert 🚨 clareview .. Saturday .. 12-3 4 vids shown, all deadlifts! Nothing crazy though. All look similar but more on that in a moment ... first off thanks for the video (@aydensimpson second vid) and @marc.goza for the suggestion of using the contrast of plates (it does look cooler). 1st - 405 for 3, 2nd - 445 for 2, 3rd - 465 for 1, 4th- 485 for 1. With coaching strength and reintroducing some more neurological based training (more CNS recruitment/ intensification and compound lifts), I’m always looking for two things, either strength failure (one way to think about it—> not having the workload capacity at that current intensity, form doesn’t break down but concentric speed will eventually slow and the weight will not be moved / lifted, today this was at 500 lbs today, video not shown) versus technical failure (movement patterns potentially compromised, lateral shifts, potentially at risk for injury, “bad technique”). If the person can safely distribute weight, brace properly, keep tension through the body, keep good form, then I’m a firm believer in moving the weight for the desired outcome or goal (and this will look slightly different per individual (based on body mechanics, training age, mobility, etc.) The longer you can maintain good technique and the more self Awareness you have (along side a good coach if you’re working with one) the longer you’ll lift happily and safely. I’m all about longevity and the ability to do these movements or skills day in and day out. Come check out the strength seminar at clareview this coming Saturday 12-3 and register first for your CEC’s!! Some personal take aways... need to solidify my set up so my hips don’t shoot up first. I need to keep working on thoracic extension with and without a load, and I definitely need to take the slack out of the bar as it’s very audible.
