If you arenโ€™t training legs regularly and till failure your results will take more timeโžก๏ธby regularly I mean 2x a week every week. I train legs/glutes heavy 2x a week because quite honestly I wasted a lot of time training 3x a week. Why? I wasnโ€™t pushing myself enough. Training till failure allows you to REALLY push yourself ๐Ÿ”ฅ 4. Non workout relate โžก๏ธ EAT! If you want to grow any body part you must train with intent as well as fuel your body properly. Something most people way under eat is protein. Now protein isnโ€™t the end all be all macro but from what I have seen in friends, family, clients etc people do not prioritize protein consumption. HAHAHAHA iโ€™m such a weenie sometimes ๐Ÿ˜‚ Welp, itโ€™s another leg day lol.. Itโ€™s consistently been a huge focus of mine since January 2018. But โ€˜twas a good one! Sometimes, I psych myself out before I even attempt heavier weight or a new exercise and then I get so frustrated not only with myself, but the person convincing me that itโ€™s #mindovermatter. I was being a little biatchhh about doing the reverse hack squats, but once I got more comfortable it was so much easier. Hereโ€™s to a great reminder of being #comfortablyuncomfortable ๐Ÿ˜‡ P.S. Letโ€™s just say going down stairs over the next 48-72 hours could be potentially traumatic for me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ On a positive note... . . I hit another PR today on my DLs and barbell squats. Itโ€™s all finally starting to come together and now 75% of the time, I actually look forward to going to the gym. The other 25% of my days off, Iโ€™m either napping or watching LetterKenny. The hard part is going to be keeping this up upon my return from deployment but itโ€™s a bit early to start planning that at the moment. Right now Iโ€™m completely content with soaking in the moment and the little victories. Life is too short... Best part about doing legs on a Monday...zero wait on anything! I was inspired by @anthbailes_maxxmuscle โ€˜s post earlier about the Centurion leg press set. Start with one 45# plate/side - do 10 reps. Then add another 45# plate/side and do another 10 reps. Every 10 reps add a plate, so on and so on until you get to 10 plates/sides. Itโ€™s one giant set, no rest apart from the plate loading, and trying not to puke. It was sheer murder on the quads. Reverse banded the #pitshark to create more load on the eccentric portion. โ˜ ๏ธ Death by Legs โ€ข Do you enjoy killing your legs? โ€ข Do you enjoy Goblet Squats? โ€ข Do you also love adding a variation that makes goblet squats much harder, but really engages the core as well? โ€ข LOOK NO FURTHER. Because in 2019, when in doubt, you just add a resistance band and it just changes everything ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ โ€ข Adding a resistance band to the goblet squat forces you to be under load throughout the exercise and works on exploding through the entire movement. Not only will it put more load on the legs, it will also really challenge the core as well, as that weight wants to pull you down while you try to stay upright. โ€ข โœ”๏ธ4 sets of 10, 60 second rest. Leg day again. My knees are still sore from Sunday, so with this pendulum leg press I banded it to make the concentric portion a bit easier while making the eccentric load much heavier. Finished off with a sled leg press machine, I hate doing lunges, so feet high, and doing a single leg press equates well to a lunge variation. Higher volume on this for a finisher. Hamstring focused leg day. Banded Leg Press was my priority exercise this morning. Not really sure how much tension the bands added on the concentric portion of the press, but the stimulus lit up my hams and glutes. A great cue from @jasoncolleyprs for your feet...start by rolling onto the outside of your foot, then rotate you big toe down and keep pressure on your big toe/ball of your foot. Leg day (solo again.) Warmed up with a bunch of leg extensions and standing leg curls. My IT band on my right leg is still causing me problems, itโ€™s a lot better since working with @jasoncolleyprs and training once or twice a week with him and @zacharykane - has completely re-formatted my leg training, and Iโ€™m training with a lot less pain these days. Todayโ€™s session was full of volume, minus the warmup and finishing extensions, total volume was 43,280# This leg press is the closest to a pendulum style leg press that Iโ€™ve found - that stack goes to 500# but feels like 1,000# I really like how it loads the quads without trashing the knee joint. Cracking leg day at Quads with the lads @jasoncolleyprs and @zacharykane - we kept things relatively straight forward in terms of set execution, rest/pause on the Leg Press and a single drop set on the top set of Pendulum Squats.
