Two big factors to optimal muscle growth is muscle confusion and repetition. . Muscle confusion - stick with a routine for 8-12 weeks while building up the weight. You’ll hit a plateau, this is where it’s important to switch up your routine to keep the growth curve at an optimal level. . Repetition - On a micro level, you shouldn’t settle for the standard 8 reps x 3 sets. Some days you should focus on strength (2-6 reps x 8-10 sets) and some for endurance (12-20 reps x 3-5 sets). On a macro level, try to hit the muscle groups 2x/week for optimal growth. . There are many accessory exercises out there that you can do that may have some carry over into bench press strength. ———————- The traditional push up requires the same musculature as the bench press, but does not replicate the same movement path. The bar path of the bench press follows a curve (even though many rookies use a vertical bar path), while the traditional push up does not. ———————- @athleanx gets very creative here and modifies the push up so that the movement is more comparable to that of the bench press. As a runner it’s very important to address muscle imbalances. * You spend a lot of time activating your quads when running so it’s a good idea to add some posterior chain exercises to your routine. * Here I have Sarah performing some deadlifts this set saw her Achieved a personal best. * Her bespoke training program pushes her to get that little bit stronger as the weeks go by. * Her technique has come on very nicely. We are currently working on removing any rounding from the lower back.
