Break-fast & The fattening before the fast. I’m breaking a 36 hour liquid fast with this meal. 💪🏾 Pictured: my favourite-of-the-month kombucha by @gtskombucha; two egg omelet made with sour cream, red and green bell peppers and onions, green and kalmata olives, and feta cheese; an entire small sized avocado, and @johnsonville Cajun style chicken sausage. Plus, for fun, half a croissant. 🥑 I haven’t decided if I’ll share videos or pictures of the next phase of my water fast on here, but this meal will carry me through an additional 2 days of water fasting and 3 days of dry fasting. 🙋🏾‍♀️💁🏾‍♀️ Why do I do it? For the culture lol. No, but really, I do fast for my mind, the Spirit within me and my body.

My weight and body composition has fluctuated quite a bit over the last 4-5 years... but for good reason...I had two babies!! So for those of you who don't know my story, here it is.....👇👇 . . When I found out I was pregnant with Jagger, I was in the best shape I'd ever been. Going into my second trimester I was forced to stop working out and put on bedrest for three months. I lost all of my muscle and gained all the fat...70 pounds to be exact 😣. I was miserable, depressed and hated being pregnant. 10 days postpartum, I started working out again, and I cried every night, but I KEPT GOING. Fast forward 9 months, days of frustration, sleepless nights with a baby AND writing papers for grad school, these crazy 30 minute home workouts, days of nutrition on point MOST of the time, and still working full time on the weekends, I lost 70 pounds!! . . With Aspen, I was able to workout the ENTIRE pregnancy except for one week towards the end. I gained a lot of muscle, but still a lot of fat because of those #damnhormones 😂. I gained 50 pounds with this pregnancy, and 6 months later, again sleepless nights, those crazy 30 minute workouts at home, and nutrition good MOST of the time because #donuts and #wine, I'm down 35 pounds! . . My point is... I've had EVERY reason NOT to work out. I could have used EVERY excuse in the book... 👉I'm too tired, I have to work, I have to study, I'm depressed, I'll never get it back anyways...👈 . . But I didn't. I continue to show up every single day for myself. And if I CAN, YOU CAN. End of Story. 👊 . . I am opening up TEN 🖐🖐 spots for my next bootcamp on February 4th. 1/20/19- MISCELLANEOUS DAY- Today was completely a different workout, worked out with my buddy Chris and we used the TRX equipment today. I've had this equipment for over a year and this is the first time I've used it, silly I know. It was a great workout, completely different from throwing weights around, using your own body weight can definitely give you a good workout too. These exercises we did we were trying for the first time on the TRX so there is a learning curve and next time it should be more fluent and feel more natural. Portobello Pot Roast made easy in an instapot is the most perfect recipe to have on this frigid January day. 💚✅ This is one of the many great recipes by @avirtualvegan 💚💚💚 Mushrooms provide unique nutrients not found in the entire plant kingdom. 1️⃣ Studies show that daily mushroom consumption boosts IgA levels ( natural antibodies) ,,, a defence against pneumonia and influenza which is especially important during these harsh winter months. 2️⃣ An amino acid called ergothioneine, which the body cannot make is found in the highest levels in mushrooms and acts to protect cells from free-radical damage. 3️⃣ White mushrooms ( as well as strawberries and pomegranates) can suppress a potentially cancer promoting enzyme, estrogen synthase. My fresh juices are never a substitute for my daily recommended allowance of vegetable servings since you lose the fiber during the juicing process. Day 3 #jus cleanse in full swing. We were gone all morning for church and a study group so that helped keep me from thinking about food a lot longer than usual! I'm not following the rules very well bc I will have extra soups left over. I've ate some real food, including my chili. I could not eat the split pea soup. Idk if it was supposed to taste carbonated but I could not do it. I'm not sure if it was bad bc it tasted fermented and not right. I threw it away. I have one more of the split pea I'm afraid to open. 🤔 but otherwise I love @jusbyjulie and I'd definitely order again if it's in my budget. This has helped immensely with my struggles to stop binging on junk food. I followed it better than I expected to. I was around free pizza yesterday and was not even tempted. That's huge for me. Choosing fresh ingredients over processed ones, can have the human body rejoicing in the tune and frequency of life. MANGO COUSCOUS 1 cup couscous 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided 1 garlic clove, minced 1 mango, peeled, pitted, and cut into 1-inch cubes ( about 1 cup) 1 jalapeño chili, seeds and ribs removed, finely chopped 1/2 cup raisins 1 ripe tomato, chopped Juice of 1 lime 1/4 cup loosely packed small cilantro sprigs, chopped 1/4 cup loosely packed small parsley sprigs, chopped Salt Prepare the couscous according to the package directions. Set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a large sauté pan over high heat. Add the garlic, mango, and jalapeño and sauté until mango begins to color lightly. Stir in the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, the couscous, raisins, tomato, lime juice, cilantro, and parsley and toss to heat through. Season with salt. You guys, I am DONE with Week 1 ✅ Anytime I start a new program, I get really excited to try it out! What will the workouts be like? What kind of moves will we do? How is it going to make me feel?? Inevitably, there’s a transition period where my body is like, “Whoa! Lady! What are you DOING?!” 🤣 And I have to yell at my body, “You’re FINE! This is GOOD for you!” Transform:20 was the same! My body protested for the first few days, there was some soreness, but overall... I feel like it had the perfect balance for me. It’s a quick workout that I can squeeze in during my lunch break, I can even do it from home now that I’ve got the step, AND there are built in days that let you go easier — like today, the Day 6 “Balance” workout. Still only 20 minutes, but with more stretching, recovery-style moves that help reduce soreness! And, as the trainer Shaun T said during today’s workout, you have to allow yourself to FEEL accomplished when you’ve done something good! Can’t wait to move onto week 2 to track my progress with the Transformers! Check out my stories for examples of the moves! 💜

I’ve been trying something a little different lately on the weight loss front. Ian introduced me to intermittent fasting. I’ve been following a 16-8 or 18-6 schedule, eating between Noon-6 mostly. And I feel great. The scale finally budged and I lost 5 pounds in the last two weeks. Combined with the vegan diet, yoga, and daily kombucha, I’m down 10 pounds, DRASTICALLY reduced my depression symptoms, more naturally energetic, and balanced hormones (my periods have been awful since my 30th birthday, but they’re suddenly back to normal). I’m sold. It’s suddenly not a ‘diet’ and doesn’t feel like one. I’m treating my body the way I should have for a long time- with respect and proper nourishment. I feel so good.
