Flexy Friday 🧘🏻‍♀️ Do you guys #stretch 🤔 Do you do it BEFORE or AFTER exercise 🤷🏻‍♀️ OR just randomly throughout the day 🧐 Can you turn yourself into a human pretzel & then walk to work on your hands 😃 . . Yeh I can’t do that last 1 either 😂. . But seriously friends #flexibility is NOT something to joke about (although I pretty much find everything funny..🤦🏻‍♀️). . I don’t need to tell you a regular #workout is good for our #health BUT you would be surprised HOW MANY people I see who DON’T support that physical activity with something like a regular #mobility sequence 😨. . When we #exercise we put pressure on our musculoskeletal system 👉🏻 our joints feel the impact, our muscles contract & relax to power us through, & all of our stabilising tendons & ligaments get involved as well (it’s a right old connective tissue party 👏🏻) . . And this is totally normal, it’s all of those things that make us #stronger , faster & fitter 🤗. . BUT over time if we don’t look after those bits they get a bit grumpy (wouldn’t you?!) we feel tight, we become sore, we lose range of movement & actually our ability to perform parts of those #exercise regimes will DECREASE 😭 (annoying when you’re putting effort in hey!) . . So yes my friends we NEED to work progressively (& within our OWN range) on the suppleness of those tissues, I would actually say it’s EQUALLY as important to our long term health as the exercise itself 👌🏻. . But what about the how & when 😳 Well OF COURSE I’ve popped my top tips below & AS ALWAYS there’ll be more in my stories 😁. . HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE 😘 #plieblingnutrition . . 👟BEFORE - this is where we want to ACTIVATE our muscles, think banded glute work, foam rolling, some mat based core bits rather than stretching because cold muscles aren’t particularly elastic. 🏆AFTER - this is the time to put in those static stretches. Take deep breaths, hold the pose for upward of 30 seconds & try to progressively increase the depth. 🏊🏻‍♀️OTHER TIMES - generally moving around regularly, adding in #yoga ,swimming, or similar activities will all aid in a progressive increase in that range of motion. . . #fitnessfriday #jointhealth #wholebodyhealth

3 months married and loving life 💞 . This has to be one of my favorite pictures captured @seandowney10 . The 2 questions I get asked regularly--how's married life going? And any babies? . Second one is easy, the only baby that's coming our way is 4 legged and fluffy, known as a puppy 😂 . For the first question- it's going great and I wouldn't change any of it. My baby and I spent the tram ride home discussing dinner options...out... which seemed great until we realised that we were starving and nothing was open... yet.. the only logical option to satisfy that hunger was pasta, which helpfully used up the last bit of beet pesto, with greens... not the most inspired dinner thanks to a mostly empty fridge, but super tasty nonetheless.

🍌#vegan BREAKFAST BARS! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌱Only 6 ingredients and PERFECT to take on the go!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥄INGREDIENTS (makes 4 bars) 1 medium, ripe banana (mashed) 1 flax seed egg 3/4 cup oats 1 tbsp nut butter (I used @meridianfoods Coconut & peanut butter) 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 oat flour ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥣METHOD preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius. In a bowl, mix together the oats, oat flour and cinnamon. Add the mashed banana, flax seed egg and nut butter. Use a spoon or your hands to make sure the mixture is well combined. I use a silicon mould for the bars but you can use your hands to yield the mix into 4 separate bars. Place on baking paper on a baking tray and bake for 14 minutes. Hellooo favourite breakfast! It’s been a while 🤤 I went to bed last night thinking I was going to make a smoothie, but this morning my body wanted eggs 🤷🏼‍♀️ . This is my FAV breaky - 1. Because it tastes so dang good but 2. Because it’s both macronutrient balanced and FULL of all the things that are so good for your mental health! Protein from the eggs, healthy fats from the avo & EVOO, and fibre from the bread and avo. Not to mention all the other vitamins and minerals packed into these three things 🙌🏼 Eggs are also a great source of vitamin D and B12 which are important vitamins for your mind as well - but I’ll be sharing a bit more on them in coming posts! ➰ .
