I wrote about this on LinkedIn today, but I think it’s a really important conversation so I am going to talk about it here too. Because it’s about Monday. . Most of us use Monday as a leverage point. But don’t follow through. I mean, how many times have you said yourself: “I’ll start on Monday?” . A lot, right? Because Monday is THE time stamp we use to reset a habit that’s fallen off or start a new one. . Problem is most of us don’t actually do anything when Monday comes around. You say you’re going to fix your diet - your health - on Monday. But then you get busy. . So, you move your timeline out to next month. Then next season. And then after vacation. And then all of a sudden a year goes by, and you haven’t done anything that really moves the needle. . Here’s the interesting thing about that: You would never let that happen in your business or at work. Because you’d be broke or fired. . But for some reason, it’s okay to break promises to yourself about your health because [fill in the blank]. . Yea... The answer doesn’t usually feel good. Because there isn’t really a good answer. So, stop waiting. Actually use this Monday to do what you would. {RECETA} No sé a vosotros, pero a mi me siguen apeteciendo platos de cuchara. En Madrid hace un fresquete #quepaqué. Por eso os recuerdo esta #receta de #alubias arroceras (o arrocinas) estofadas con verduras. . Ingredientes para 4 personas 👉🏻 2 dientes de ajo pelados, 1/2 cebolla picada, 2 zanahorias peladas y troceadas, 1 patata pelada y troceada, 1 cucharadita de pimentón, 1 hoja de laurel, 250 g de alubia arrocera o arrocina (remojada de 12 horas), 500 ml de caldo de verduras, sal, pimienta y aceite de oliva virgen extra. . Elaboración 👉🏻 Calentamos un poco de aceite en una cazuela y pochamos los dientes de ajo y la cebolla. Cuando esté traslúcida, añadimos la zanahoria, la patata, el pimentón, la hoja de laurel y el caldo de verduras. Llevamos a ebullición y agregamos las alubias. Cocemos a fuego muy suave durante 90 minutos aproximadamente o hasta que las alubias estén tiernas. Añadir agua si lo consideramos necesario y según el punto que le queramos dar. Happy #meatfreemonday ✊ not the most “insta-friendly” but way too delicious not to share on here. It’s so easy to make chilli without the beef mince - I just substituted mince for green lentils and chopped courgette, I cooked the exact same way I would with mince. Fibre heavy & oh so great for the gut 🤭 We had this with home made guacemole; cheese; sour cream; chopped lettuce and jalapeños - all wrapped in a burrito - oh yeah baby! There’s so much in the media and online nowadays about going vegan 💯 percent - yes, environmentally it would make sense to cut down your meat consumption and of course for animal welfare - but please please don’t stress - take little steps to make a big difference - don’t feel you have to cut it all out and change your entire life and be stressed under the burden of such a big shift to your lifestyle - do what you can in your own way and don’t be put down for your decisions. You’re absolutely wonderful, be kind always - to yourself and to others. We’re all trying to muddle through xx

I was invited out this weekend to @olegourmet in Stoney Creek to try the new & improved nachos. I was excited to see what changes they had been made. You may recall my disappointment with unmelted cheese on my first venture out. I am happy to report that the cheese is now melted!! They are well layered and still piled with toppings which impressed me on my previous visit, the chips are well seasoned, and the chicken was delicious. Well worth the visit! (My niece said that the only thing needed was a side of queso, but she just REALLY loves queso).

Sadly, the last week of #aprilisforarabfood is here and it's all about essential pantry items! I know you're probably looking at the meghli thinking "how's caraway esential?", well, this post isn't actually about the Caraway that happens to be the main ingredient in meghli! It's actually all about the assortment of nuts that goes on top of this decadent dessert. Nuts are extremely essential pantry items in Palestinian households. My mom will actually go nuts if we run out of nuts! 😂 (shes gonna kill me when she reads this). But really, nuts, especially pine, almond, walnut and pistachio are a must have in all her freezers/pantries. I say those words with an "s" because everywhere she goes to stay for longer than a month, she needs to have all 4 of those types available! We garnish all of our main dishes with fried almonds or pine nuts, we garnish most of our desserts with pistachios, and walnuts go into the fillings of many sweet and savoury dishes. Easy to make, gluten-free and vegan. This Chia Pudding looks like from outer space and your kids will love it!! 💙⁣⁣ Recipe below 📝👇🏻⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ INGREDIENTS :⁣⁣ 🔹1 cup water⁣⁣ 🔹3 bags butterfly pea flower tea⁣⁣ 🔹2.5 tbsp white chia seeds⁣⁣ 🔹1/2 cup soy yogurt⁣⁣ 🔹1 banana⁣ 🔹2 tbsp honey⁣⁣ 🔹4 tbsp blueberries fresh or defrosted⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ INSTRUCTIONS :⁣⁣ 1. Bring water to the boil and add 1 bags Butterfly Pea Flower Tea. Let brew for 10 minutes. Then remove tea bag, squeezing it slightly. Add 1 tbsp honey and allow to cool.⁣⁣ 2. Mix chia seeds with the blue tea and mix vigourously for 60 seconds. Allow to rest for at least two hour, stirring once in a while.⁣⁣ 3. In the meanwhile, mix soy yogurt with the content of the the second tea bag (just rip it open). Add 1 tbsp honey and mix in the banana.⁣ 4. Mix blue chia pudding with 4 tbsp blue yogurt. ⁣⁣ 5. The saffon adds such a lovely, bright golden color to the rice, in contrast with the crimson saffron threads dispersed throughout. Good Morning Everyone!🌞⁣ Happy Saturday 🌷⁣ Today’s Lunch Special: Soft puffy pooris 😋🍽⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Poori also spelled as puri, is a popular recipe across South India. The main ingredients to make poori are wheat flour, oil and water.⁣ And what’s more , it’s vegan , delightfully delicious and quite easy to make!😊⁣ ⁣Recipe below 📝👇🏻⁣ ⁣⁣ INGREDIENTS:⁣⁣ 🔻2 cup wheat flour⁣⁣ 🔻2 tbsp semolina ⁣⁣ 🔻pinch sugar⁣⁣ 🔻salt to taste⁣⁣ 🔻water - to knead⁣⁣ 🔻oil for deep frying⁣⁣ ⁣ INSTRUCTIONS:⁣⁣ 1. In a wide mixing bowl, add wheat flour, salt, pinch of sugar and semolina. Mix well.⁣⁣ 2. Add water little by little and make a tight, smooth and stiff dough and knead well for 5 minutes.⁣⁣ 3. Add litttle oil and knead for few minutes to make it smooth and soft.⁣⁣ 4. Make small lemon sized balls.⁣ 5. Roll the dough evenly into circles using a rolling pin.⁣⁣ 6. Keep in a plate and cover.⁣⁣ 7. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. When the oil is sufficiently hot, add one puri and press with the ladle to puff up.⁣⁣ 8. Once they puff, turn over.⁣ 9. Fry the poori till it’s golden brown all over.⁣⁣ 10. Remove the poori and place it in a tissue paper to remove the excess oil. Fry all pooris same way.⁣⁣ 11. It’s a fermented low carb-high protein food, packed with fiber and natural probiotics. And what’s more , it’s VEGAN and GLUTEN FREE as well 😋🍛⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Dosa is one such food item which is extremely appetizing and relatively light, made from rice , lentils and other spices , adding low calories in your body. It's a healthy choice to overcome obesity.⁣ ⁣⁣ A properly made crisp and savory Indian dosa is fairly simple to make, with this caveat: the batter must be fermented overnight for the correct texture and requisite sour flavor. Delicious MASOOR DAL TADKA🍛😋⁣⁣⁣⁣ Sometimes the most humble looking recipes are the most delicious! ⁣Even though this is the most common dish in my Indian cuisine, it enjoys an iconic place due to its distinct taste and aroma.⁣⁣⁣⁣ Ease your soul with food like dal tadka and chapati which are packed with all the goodness of protein rich lentils.🍛😋⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Recipe below 👇🏻⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ INGREDIENTS:⁣⁣⁣⁣ For the dal:⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹1 cup masoor dal⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹½ inch ginger, crushed⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹1 onion, finely chopped⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹1 to mato, finely chopped⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹2 tsp garlic, crushed⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹1 tsp turmeric powder⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹1 tsp red chilli powder⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹cilantro , chopped⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹1 tsp coriander powder⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔹salt to taste⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ For tempering:⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸2 tsp oil ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 tsp mustard seeds⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 tsp cumin seeds⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸3 red chilies, dried⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸pinch of asafoetida⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸½ tsp red chilli powder⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸½ tsp garam masala powder⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🔸few curry leaves⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ INSTRUCTIONS:⁣⁣⁣⁣ For dal tadka:⁣⁣⁣⁣ 1. Pressure cook 1 cup of masoor dal with 4 cups of water for 20 mins.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and saute onions till they turn golden brown.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 3. Add crushed garlic , ginger, chopped tomatoes ,red chilli powder , turmeric and coriander powder and fry without burning the spices.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 4. Now add in cooked daal and mix well ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 5. Add salt to taste.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 6. Adjust the consistency by adding required water.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 7. VEGAN CHANA MASALA (Chickpea masala)⁣🍲😋⁣⁣ 🍲Vegan , Gluten free , extremely flavorful and satisfying. ⁣⁣⁣ 🍲Chana masala is a very delicious, healthy, plant-based meal in my Indian cuisine, made with chickpeas (chana) and garam masala. ⁣⁣⁣ 🍲This 30-minute recipe is simple, tasty , vegan and gluten free! ⁣⁣⁣ Recipe below 👇🏻⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ INGREDIENTS:⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 cup chickpea, soaked overnight⁣⁣⁣ 🔸4 tbsp oil ⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 bay leaf⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 inch cinnamon stick⁣⁣⁣ 🔸½ tsp cumin seeds⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 onion, finely chopped⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 tsp ginger-garlic paste⁣⁣⁣ 🔸2 tomatoes, finely chopped⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder⁣⁣⁣ 🔸½ tsp turmeric powder⁣⁣⁣ 🔸1 tsp coriander powder⁣⁣⁣ 🔸½ tsp cumin powder⁣⁣⁣ 🔸¾ tsp dry mango powder⁣⁣⁣ 🔸salt to taste⁣⁣⁣ 🔸½ tsp garam masala⁣⁣⁣ 🔸2 cups water⁣⁣⁣ 🔸Few cilantro leaves, finely chopped⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ INSTRUCTIONS:⁣⁣⁣ 1. Pressure cook the soaked chickpeas for 4 whistles ( about 10-15 mins )⁣⁣⁣ 2. Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaf, cinnamon stick and cumin seeds and sauté till they turn aromatic.⁣⁣⁣ 3. Then mix in the chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté till the onions turn golden brown.⁣⁣⁣ 4. Add tomatoes ,chilli powder, turmeric powder,coriander powder, cumin powder, mango powder, garam masala and salt. Sauté well.⁣⁣⁣ 5. Finally add the cooked chickpeas and 2 cups of water and mix well.⁣⁣⁣ 6.
