Lifting your legs from the ground is a great exercise for working out your lower abs, and you don't need any tool to do them! Lower abs are one of the most underused parts of our body, so it is important to keep them toned and in good shape. • • • #zzonefit #fitness #fit #workout #exercise #exercises #body #health #healthy #tips #push #instafit #instafitness #gym #gymtime #strength #zzonecoach #houston #fulshear

WANT KILLER ABS - The V-Sit Medicine Ball Pass is a great compound exercise that uses your body weight to help sculpt strong, beautiful abs. - It also helps tone your obliques, strengthen back muscles, and challenges your entire core. - Do 3 sets with a rep range of 10 reps per leg. - TIPS TO REMEMBER: - 1. Engage your core throughout the whole movement 2. Lean back slightly 3. Keep back straight 4. Keep head/neck in the line with your spine 5. Raise your legs off the floor 6. Cycle your legs while passing the medicine ball between hands through your legs - Give it a try and let me know what you think. - What’s your favourite ab exercise? - #absworkout #sixpackabs #bodypump #strengthtraining #lowerbodyworkout #fitnessvideos #physique #fitnessaddicts #womensfitness #exercises #exercisedaily #fitnotskinny #fitover40 #fitnessbody #igvideo #getacoach #sculptyourbody #igfit #bodyweightexercises #bodyweighttraining #athomeworkout #workoutathome

“With the fingers falling…freely, the following intervals are produced : a whole tone between the 1st and 2nd fingers, a semitone between the 2nd and 3rd, and a whole tone between the 3rd and the 4th . . . This disposition of the fingers, which describes a perfect fourth between the 1st and 4th fingers, is the natural position of the fingers, and the basis of violin fingering.” — The Principles of Violin Fingering by I. M. Yampolsky, page 25 Adding all four fingers, for me first in Schradieck, is always a challenge for a string player. What I have found quite a few low-level violinists neglect or are unaware of is that the natural frame of the hand should always be mostly-maintained. It is easy, when unaware of this, to allow the wrist with the fingers to pivot to the right to regain a flat position, an easier position for the body, when playing lower fingers, requiring a pivot of the wrist for upper fingers, primarily the 4th. This makes acceptably-accurate intonation almost impossible because of the targets for the fingers becoming further away with more-complex hand motions. The fingers, instead, should stay directly above their natural positions on the violin and fall directly on the strings, sliding up and down the string freely of one another (later introduced in Part II of this book) for chromatics. I spent several days playing erroneously in the lesser way, as I see many other novice and beginner violinists do on IG. Once these corrections were made, not only did my intonation improve tremendously, my tone quality became far better. I am still perfecting the accuracy of my fourth finger (and all fingers as relate to one another, to some degree), as can be expected. But it's closer and closer every day, and it doesn't hurt or strain me to play! I always say technique comes in response to a need, but a musician must learn where and how to respond to their needs. More practice won't cut it. It will only further ingrain irrational technique! Happy soul-searching! P.S. If my squinting bothers you, hmu, and I will let you know which stand light to buy me as a gift! 😀

In my self-study, I am finding it more and more fundamental to learn violin vertically as my foundation (shifting). String crossing, even with adjacent strings, involves a greater distance between the fingers in each position, per Pythagorean's theorem (yes, algebra). It is a shorter distance between notes on the same string than between notes on different strings. My approach to string crossing focuses on paying attention to how much the distance changes between strings. The intervals of each position also become closer and closer together the higher you go on the violin. Therefore, it seems disabling to approach the violin by first in mastering each position separately. One must learn first to think vertically and horizontally in scale degrees and intervals, and only then does it make sense to study full positions. Otherwise, you are trying to memorize 9-10 different positions entirely independent of one another. The prospect is enough to make even the most educated music student's head hurt. Ševčík's opus 8 shifting studies is a perfect method to study the violin vertically. It categorizes shifts by size of shift, and the exercises in each category utilize that size of shift on different fingers. It's these exercises I've been focused on for several months now. Notice how “extended” my fingers are in lower positions versus how contracted they are in higher position. This is the basis of effective left-hand technique. Shifting is considered one of the hardest “techniques” on the violin, but it also demands the strictest attention of the ear. These exercises span 7 positions on each string. They do an excellent job at training the student how much closer the fingers get the higher the position is on the violin and to gauge the movements with the ear. They also demand optimal setup and posture of the violin on the shoulder!

The setup of the violin in regards to chin rest and shoulder rest is crucial. Every individual is different, and I have an extremely long neck but broad shoulder and not as steep of slope down my chest as most people. I no longer believe too strongly in highly customizable chin rest options. Guarneri style chin rests are by far the absolute most common, and I find it highly impractical to learn on something wildly different and then find it extremely awkward to pick up a different instrument that isn't fitted to your exacting standards. I believe the shoulder rest to be where the seriousness lies in finding the perfect setup… You will find players with some of the wildlest shoulder rest options, anything from using nothing at all to using the Pirastro KorfkerRest that costs upwards of $300, possibly in addition to the Pirastro KorfkerCradle that is over $1,000. It's really spectacular the variety you will see. I use a buono model shoulder rest with the G-side foot screwed as far out as it will go and the E-side foot all the way in. The feet of mine are 0.75", and I have 1.5" feet ordered which will be here soon. I need the G string side at least 1/3 of an inch, possibly 1/2 an inch higher. The E string side may be kept a bit higher once that is achieved, but the point for me is to achieve a steep (but reasonable) violin angle on my very flat shoulder-to-chest incline while also having the instrument sit high enough to scrunch neither chin nor shoulder. Most skilled players have achieved this posture. I'm already very close, and it truly enables a player to span the length of the instrument freely! It is one week until my 9-month anniversary learning violin, and I couldn't be more thrilled with every last minute I've spent on it so far! Enjoy yet another video installment in my development!

𝐆𝐋𝐔𝐓𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 🍑 - Are you looking to build your glutes, but not sure which exercises are right for you? - Squats WILL not provide the same activation, strength, size or growth as a HIP THRUST! They will not reduce episodes of back pain (front/back squats). Strengthening the glutes doing hip thrusts will reduce overall activation of hamstrings & lower back. - This is an overview of some exercises and how they compare to each other regarding glute activation. ⠀ When comparing hip thrusts, deadlifts and hex bar deadlifts the hip thrusts came out with the greatest glute activation. While the barbell deadlift came second closely behind hip thrusts and lastly, we had the hex bar deadlift with the least relative to all others. This is to be expected as the hex bar deadlift has a significantly greater quad activation compared to all three which will take some of the load away form the posterior chain. -⠀ However, we can assume with the distinction of the hip thrusts as being a purely hip hinging exercises similar types of exercises like the RDL should give us similar results. Even with other comparative exercises like pull throughs. It would be nice to see comparative research of all strictly hip hinge exercises. - Regarding squats compared to hip thrusts a study by (Contreras et al) showed a significantly greater activation of the glutes with hip thrust compared to squat. However, this was done with a 10RM load perhaps with different load we may see different results. It seems as the hip thrusts are more of an isolation exercise due to their purely hip hinge movement and will elicit greater hip extensor activation. - One interesting thing is that single leg lower limb exercises like Single leg RDL’S lead to a greater activation of the gutes. This can be useful as a warm up exercise to create potentiation in the glute muscles to allow for better activation. - Please share and tag to grow the booty 🍑.
