The Snatch is a complex movement that requires strength, speed, flexibility, coordination, balance, and more. POST ACTIVATION POTENTIATION Post activation potentiation (PAP) is a short term improvement in athletic performance resulting from performing two similar movements simultaneously. These videos won’t do much justice explaining this concept since I’m deloading (lowering my % 1RM) this week but I’ll elaborate with a template below -Back squat- 90% 1RM 3 sets, 3 reps -Bodyweight countermovement jump 3 sets, 5 reps -Lateral lunge -Ice skaters The key to this training method is performing two movements in the same plane of motion (ex: front squat and vertical jump are performed in the sagittal plane). The key is to give an all out effort in both our lift and plyometric. After performing our lift, rest for 3 minutes before your plyometric AT MINIMUM. Don’t go crazy with the med ball weight (10-16lbs should do it) remember the point of this - increased explosive speed. Keep your elbows tucked, thumbs up and palms open. Focus here should be to get the ball back out as fast as you can with a big fast punch. This is a great one for linemen, throwing a stiff arm, or striking for combat sport athletes. Also good for getting past that stick point at the top of your bench on max effort days!
