"So, I was eating 1200-1400 calories a day, drinking way too many processed low calorie protein shakes, exercising 6 days a week doing F45, and sometimes weights after. I also forgot to mention that I am on my feet 10 hours a day working at a café. I was at 77kg, and I’m 5’5. I came to Paul waving my health and fitness white flag. I was exhausted, hungry, grumpy, and chubby (the worst combo). Paul immediately put up my calories to almost double and gave me a pretty simple weights program that I was to follow 4 times a week for 2 weeks. I have never felt so full in my entire life, but man did I feel great! After only three days of following Paul’s plan, I seriously never felt better in my life. I was eating whole foods, zero protein shakes, sleeping 8 hours and waking up feeling energized. One of the best exercises you can do for your core - Ab wheel rollouts. I have been working on my core for years with crunches, planks, leg raises, you name it and I have tried it and while I now know and have some experience and sense to realise just how bad some of them are for you, nothing has ever compared to these as far as core work goes, nail the form and you've got one of the best exercises, doing multiple sets of these leaves me with a sore core for days on end(something no other exercise can do). Squat!! Held a pause squats at 100 kgs for 12 seconds, I swear I was getting so bored down there. . A squat like every other exercise is what you want it to be, you can use it for packing on mass or for burning an amazing amount of calories during and most importantly days after your workout, you cannot have a complete leg workout and leg development without a squat element, squats are known to release growth hormone if done with intensity and ofcourse correct form. It is referred to as "The King" for a reason. . I do not have perfect form,but that's because as more weight is added, minute things tend to get overlooked and I'm very aware of these things and am always to fine tune it. . Are you eating “clean” but not losing fat? If your aim is fat loss, calories are key. Healthy foods still have calories. This includes grazing on fruit all day as well as snacking on nuts, this will take your daily intake up without you knowing. Obviously it’s good to eat healthy but you must account for absolutely everything that passes your lips! If your aren’t tracking your calories, then how do you know that you are in a calorie deficit? Especially before surgery. As many of you know my obesity was not caused by a problem with food. My obesity was a direct result of disease and prescription medications used to treat those diseases. It was completely out of my control. Which left me broken. Physically, emotionally and spiritually I was broken. • It's an awful feeling to not have control over what is happening to you. My body didn't work or look the way it used to. I couldn't do things I loved like run or hike. Hell, I was lucky if I could get myself dressed in the morning! Okay so, I have a lot of people tell me "I wish I had your motivation" but the truth is there are a lot of days that I am unmotivated! There are actually days where I don't feel like working out at all but then end up killing a workout & feeling so much better afterward! My point is some days you just gotta push yourself & get through it. Sometimes we don't feel like doing things but in order for amazing things to take place we gotta push ourselves! I challenge you to take at least one day out of the week & exercise. No matter what it is (walking, running, biking, lifting weights, swimming, yoga, jump rope). It doesn't matter, do what you enjoy! Thrusters! - a thruster is an almost complete body compound movement by itself, it combines upper body push(over head press), front squat, core and general explosiveness, the only movement lacking is a pull variant which you can add by doing pullups between sets. I'd recommend trying with a much lighter weight(maybe even empty bar) until you can get 10+ reps with good form.
