Are you working out today the way you want to or the way you feel you have to? . Not every workout has to be super intense. On Saturday’s I usually feel like a need a break. I like to walk. Years ago I would have been scared to NOT go for a 6 mike run. I would not have seen any value in walking... . That was so much pressure to have put on myself. I’ve had the worst habit of only buying produce and nothing “bad” when I grocery shop. That always leads to me getting take out or going to corner store for junk food. It just sets me up to restrict and binge so I’m trying to break this habit by planning out my snacks in advance and getting them from the grocery store with my weekly shop. 🕙 INTERMITTENT FASTING 🕙 ⠀ After creating 'Fat loss for busy people' infographic I've been bombarded with questions about intermittent fasting. So, I think it deserves post on it's own. ⠀ The example shown on this picture is the form of easiest & most popular fasting method – 16:8. ⠀⠀ Long story short, you fast for 16 hours and eat all of your calories in the remaining 8 hour period. ⠀ In the fasting window, you can consume zero cal beverages (black coffee, water, tea). It tehnically isn't a 'fast' but for the purposes of losing weight it works perfectly. Keep in mind that this is not a magic strategy to lose fat as some people claim, but it can definitely be helpful. ⠀ It's basically a meal timing strategy that forces you to eat fewer meals which most of the times results in consuming fewer calories. The calorie deficit still applies and if you're not in a one you won't lose weight. ⠀ Also, it's important to point out that intermittent fasting doesn’t work for everyone and only way to find that out for yourself is by trying it. ⠀ There's also a bit of evidence showing that IF can improve metabolism and growth hormone production but not enough to make any conclusions. ⠀ Are you doing Intermittent fasting? Seeing consistent progress is what helps keep anyone motivated with their fitness journey. However, when progress stalls out & you reach a plateau, that’s often when people fall off. . ➡️In order to see continued progress, when progress stalls, you have to change one of the variables from what you’ve been doing. . ☝️The first step is being more consistent (with doing the right stuff - eating healthier & working out) and giving it more time. . ✈️It’s a long game. Progress doesn’t always immediately. . ☝️Also, when you’re not as consistent as you should be, it’s hard to make continuous progress. . ✈️Some tangible actions, when you’re noticing stalled progress either both fat loss or building muscle includddde....⤵️ . ☝️For fat loss: Track what you’re eating and eat a little bit less calories than you have been (when progress was stalled). . ✈️For fat loss (2): Another option, to lose stubborn fat is to increase the amount you’re working out (number of sessions per week, length of sessions). This will burn more calories, which leads to fat loss as long as your diet stays the same. . ☝️For gaining muscle: You have to eat more calories if you’ve stalled out. Ideally, from quality sources. Aka not just pizza and Reese’s Cups. . ✈️For gaining muscle (2): increase the intensity of your lifting. Strive to get stronger. Perform more reps or use more weight. Get more total reps in. Something has to change. . ☝️Hitting a plateau can be extremely frustrating but as long as you stay with it & make adjustments, you’ll continue making more and more progress 👌
