Let’s talk a little about: ▪️The autonomic nervous system ▪️Stress ▪️Play/fun/de-stress ▪️Training ▪️Recovery 🔹How it all ties together🔹 _ There is no cool looking movements in this video. _ Autonomic nervous system: Sympathetic: Referred to as “fight or flight". Higher levels of stress, irritability, anxious, etc. Parasympathetic: Referred to as “rest and digest”. Lower heart rate. More of a calm/relaxed state, etc. _ If you’re constantly in a sympathetic state, that will be detrimental to your health, both mentally and physically. High levels of stress in your personal life, with high levels of stress during training, without proper de-stress techniques and recovery will = you running your body into the ground _ On the flip side, If you’re constantly under no stress at all, physically or mentally, you won’t be able to create adaptations that are beneficial for your health such as strength/movement, and mental fortitude _ The goal should be to find the proper amount of balance between the two. For me, I’m a very wired Individual, I like to work hard and push myself, but where I’ve failed in the past is making an effort to find the calmness. _ This video represents me doing what I find fun. Being in nature, moving my body, enjoying the fresh air. This is where I feel calm. Where the stress of the outside world doesn’t visit. I’m free, and I’m just having fun. Intensity of the movements are low. This is one of the ways I find balance and regulate my autonomic nervous system. I want the right amount of stress to force healthy adaptations, but I also want the right about of fun activities and de-stress tools to help recover from that. _ Find ways to have fun, to de-stress. Go outside and play, or do whatever fuels your soul and you’re passionate about. Eat well, hydrate, allow your body proper nights rest. One huge difference you can make in your overall health is getting enough water. Your cells need to stay hydrated to function properly. By doing this you are helping yourself lose weight, have bright and clear skin, have regular bowel movements, have flushed kidneys, feel less hungry and feel more energetic! Those are amazing benefits just from drinking enough clean water each day.

Focus On Change And Results Will Follow Most people who set out to achieve a goal fail because it’s “too hard,” because they didn’t realise the work involved, or maybe even because they lost the belief that they could actually do it. The key is to focus on the process rather than the result. Everyone who wants to achieve a goal wishes they achieved it yesterday, but the key to sticking to it long-term, through all the ups and downs, is learning to love the process. If all you do is think about reaching a certain weight, fitting into a certain size, or whatever the end goal is for you, the process will become exhausting, and too often, it leads to giving up. It's a matter of choice! Recognise that every individual choice you make throughout each day will lead you closer to, or further away from, your goals. There is no in-between. If you make choices that lead you closer to the goal 80-90% of the time, reaching the desired result will be the end game. The process leads to the result – not the other way around!

Have you hung onto past failures and let them get in the way of future awesomeness? It's human nature to throw a pity party, make excuses, and step back from the next challenge when things didn't go as planned. I have WANTED to quit so many freakun' times in my 25+ years as competitive athlete, but have trained my mind not to fall for that bullcrap. Never do i think I can't/won't do something. 👉Your body absolutely WILL NOT go where your mind won't let it. . . Because i have my first @spartan of the season in a few days, i'm thinking of my huge "fail" 6 months ago at Spartan World Championships in the elite coin holder heat. Everything went bad, quick. At the finish line, i "wanted" to throw the towel in on a lifetime of running. My body and ego were battered and bruised big time, the worst ever. Never again. But, I let the mental pain go *almost* ,😉 immediately and consider it (and all the other "fails") the backbones of my badassery (well, as badass as you can be at 50yrs 😂) I'm reminding myself (and you) that everytime you start a challenge or run into an obstacle in a race or in life, you ALWAYS keep the mind set that you are a winner and are going to nail it. The second you think you cant, you won't. It’s hard to read in this picture, but I just got my new @momentumjewelry bracelet! On the charm it says “Just Breathe” to help remind me to chill out. Sometimes I get too much in my head worrying about stuff. If I said the wrong thing, if I didn’t push myself hard enough, didn’t get everything I wanted to done etc. so this is my new mantra to get me through the day. 💜

And I think it starts by how we view ourselves, and what our mindset really is. If you give power to your goals, surrounding yourself by good people, and fiercely believing in yourself, then good things will start coming your way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you give power to people who don’t believe in you, things that make you unhappy, and unhealthy habits in general; what do you think will happen to the goals you want to achieve? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s such a basic principle to live by. But when you really think about it, what you THINK you are is also what you attract. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s SO easy to get caught up in the what if’s, or the fears in your mind. But you can’t let it get the best of you. If you want something badly enough; new doors will open for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Years ago I gave power to my self destructive mindset and the people I used to hang out with. A bunch of people who were so fearful of what they wanted, (including myself), that we’d just party our lives away, and not make any personal gains in our own lives. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The second I left those people, and changed my mindset to believing in me again, nothing but good things have been happening. Because I CHOSE to give power to positive only in my life. I CHOSE to believe I can! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes we need to sit and evaluate our goals and current life situation.
