We had a little snowfall last night. I told my hubby that I would go out and shovel the driveway and sidewalk this morning. Needless to say he was a little shocked since I don’t do that very often. It’s my rest day but it felt good to get outside in the crisp fresh air and move a bit. (-19C)❄️❄️❄️ It actually felt good. I was toasty warm except my fingers. “Even though good people may be bothered by trouble again and again, they are never defeated.” Proverbs 24:16 Do I let failing at something stop me and just give up? I used to belong to that club on so many fronts. I gave up. But not any more! I work very hard at giving about 2 minutes to a pity party, or discouragement time and then move on – I will not be defeated. There is a famous athlete named Althea Gibon who had a chance of about one billion to one that she would win a Wimbledon Championship. But apparently, she never told herself that! She worked hard, and was finally allowed to play. She won the French Open, the US Open and Wimbledon. Her life reminds me that “failure is always the path of least persistence.” I LOVE that saying! So, when you or I are facing long odds, remember Althea Gibson. She didn’t know she couldn’t do it . . . so she did! And for that matter, so can we! What have you convinced yourself you can’t do? Get up and get started! Don’t defeat yourself!

We lost this girl on Friday. She was the canine love of my life...always concerned about me, with me, waiting for me, and just simply devoted. • Families love each other through good times and bad, but we get impatient, annoyed or hurt with each other at times. But, Bella was the epitome of unconditional love. Not just for me, but for all of us. • The kids picked out Brian (he left us eight months ago) and Bella while they were in high school and college. But the latter years, maybe the last six or seven, they were strictly “our” dogs. They were beyond excited to see the kids when they came home, but they came with us in our moves and relied on us for their care. • The funny thing was, though they were raised with adults and weren’t into kids at all, when our two grandkids came along, they knew these two were our family...our pack. Because Bella knew how crazy we were about these two, she loved them as much as we did...at their side, wanting to help, herd and lick. • This house is not the same. I think I will now enjoy my grand dogs. They have big shoes to fill...RIP Bella Marie. Run free of pain with Brian. My heart is heavier, even though you took a large part of it. Enjoy being young again. Tell him hi and we miss him, too.❤️

Happy Sunday! Weight training? Yes! ... but mobility! Being mobile is a crucial aspect of being healthy. If a person is not able to move a joint freely through its full range of motion, then they are already putting themselves at an increased risk of injury before even attempting to pick up a weight and load that range of motion. Mobility is one of the keys to longevity in training. Working on mobility will also unleash A LOT of hidden potential in your body. Working on mobility will help you break through plateaus and improve your overall health. You also need mobility to get strong and move well. Mobility isn't something we do for the sake of "getting more mobile". Mobility work is done because it's necessary in order to maximize one's potential and working on it has numerous of great benefits. Mobility work will allow you to maximize your progress in anything you do whether it's increasing the size of your muscles, building strength or developing movement skills. Without working on mobility you will either develop chronic injuries or just hit a plateau in your training. Some examples of mobility exercises: 1. Using 10 lbs weights. 2. Body weight. 3. 💥COMPETITION vs REALITY...pic taken 3 years ago! The truth is many see pictures of competing and think it was a speedy process or that its easier and healthy. Yes, it can be speedy (12 weeks), is it healthy? hell no, sustainable? NO and is there alot if cutting corners to manipulate your body? YES. There are things that go on in the competition world that will have lasting, negative consequences for many. A healthy lifestyle is not a sport nor should it be treated as one _____ I am honestly so frustrated with women upset that they've been working out in the gym and havent seen results after 8 or 12 weeks... Extreme . . The problem with trying to change your body is that most focus only on losing "weight" instead of building muscle & losing actual fat. Losing weight is relatively easy and can be done quickly . . Building muscle & losing fat takes alot more discipline and time. I to was checking the mirror daily hoping for a magical change overnight. I thought once I started going to the gym regularly  I would see progress quickly and when I didnt I was upset and frustrated. Ive been there & I remember those feelings well . . This is why I'm sharing this with you. As ive lwarned and become a better coach, my mission is to educate women on the realistic expectations. My hopes is that more women will make this a lifestyle comittment and be in it for the long haul. It will take dedication, persistence and adaptation . . We didnt get where we are overnight so dont have the expectation that we will change in a week. Try to have zero expectations..... Except getting stronger, feeling better and gaining energy. The rest will come and the added bonus, you will adopt far more benefits if you enjoy the process . . It takes an average of 1 month to gain a pound of muscle and one pound of muscle takes up 1/3 of the space compared to fat . So the idea that it makes you bulky is absurd.... Fat makes you bulky . . First week in the books of my new program and all I can say is WOW!!! I love this program. I love @shaunt . I love the growth and transformation. It's hard, not gonna lie. But it's so worth it!! . First, I started this week sick. I went on a small weekend trip to workout with Shaun in person before starting this new program. And when I returned home, I got a full on head cold. My breathing was off and I was TIRED. But, #noexcuses I pushed play each day, regardless of how I felt. . Second, it's only 20 minutes. You can do anything for 20 minutes. Yes, it was a hard 20 minutes, but again, it's only 20 minutes!! . Third, I actually almost cried on day 4. That is the hardest workout of the week, and it's called POWER. And that's exactly what I had to muster to get through it. . Fourth, each day there are transformers built into the workouts that help measure your improvements each week. With week one done, I now have my base and I can only go up from there!! . Looking forward to a better week since my cold is on it's way out. I love Shaun's push and motivation. His encouragement and inspiration. My transformation goal for the remaining 5 weeks is to get stronger mentally and faster physically. I turn 48 this year, and get to become a grandma again in August. Week one of this 6 week, 6 days a week and 20 minutes a day workout program is complete. It was an early workout at 3:30 am this morning. The first 2 weeks of this program is about committing to it. Work starts at 5:00 am for me on Saturdays. So I decided to get my workout done before work. *LOST PICS* I was organizing pics today and came across these which I don't remember seeing. 2017 and 48yrs young. Coach and I worked our magic that year and we're still working it. My health and fitness is not Amazon Prime. It doesn't happen overnight or in the next couple of days. This is years of dedication to a healthier lifestyle. I knew what being unhealthy, high blood pressure, illnesses and other things felt like. I wanted to know what being healthy and committed felt like and I haven't looked back. It's only gotten better. ❤Our story cont from 1/12❤ By now the local news were camped out living in my home. I had taken it upon myself to blow up anyone who would listen that my husband was in a third world country trying to find our children. I thought the best thing I could do from the home front was to make sure EVERYONE knew where he was and what he was doing. The chances of a kidnapping or worse seemed smaller the more people I told about our story. The congressman's aide had been working with the embassy in Haiti and already had a plan in place for Brett when he landed. The whole mission went surprisingly smooth from the time Brett landed in Haiti to the time he arrived at the embassy in Haiti on the morning of the 19th. Once again Brett phoned telling me the grounds were completely covered with people and asked what were his directions. The congressman's aide called the connection she had in the embassy and described Brett. The women immediately went out and waved Brett and our children into the building. Once Brett and the children were safely inside the embassy, I was able to breathe for the first time in days. And then it was radio silence for about 13 hours.

🎉Congratulations are in order 🎉 . . 1 lb loss per day. That’s 3lbs from Tuesday - Friday. This beautiful soul had her weigh in challenge at work Friday morning and was determined to win!! She came in ready to work and look at her results! Not only is she averaging losing 1lb per day but she is no longer depressed, headaches are gone, she’s sleeping better and is no longer pre-diabetic. She has been with us off and on and in total has now lost 33lbs. This guy turned five today. I can’t believe five years have gone by already. He’s THE best kid, and we just love him. 🍕 He celebrated with friends and family at Peter Piper Pizza.
