When you don’t feel like it, you won’t do it. . If you’re trying to eat better, lose weight, get stronger, exercise more - you can’t rely on feeling motivated to do it. Because you inevitably won’t. . Motivational quotes and goals of “losing 5 pounds” just aren’t good at creating long-term sustainable lifestyle change. . Humans are more easily swayed by emotion than rational thought. “I need to get my workout in and go cook dinner but this couch feels amazing and I’ve worked hard today. I deserve to Netflix and Pizza tonight.” 🍕📺🤤AM I RIGHT? . People who are successful are the ones who create/change their habits. They pick 1 thing and do it until it feels easy. Like autopilot. Then they move on to the next habit, the next piece of their lifestyle. . . WANNA {REALLY} CHANGE SOMETHING? . . 1️⃣Pick one thing. Example: One meal. Breakfast. How can you streamline it? Make it easy? Clear the obstacles and get really good at nailing that one meal? . 2️⃣Identify your patterns. “When I do X, then Y always happens, and it causes Z. This happens every time I do X.” Example: Whenever I don’t food shop on the weekends, I end up going out to eat all week and I make poor choices and then I feel crummy.” 🔄There’s the pattern. SOLVE X. Go food shopping on Saturday. . See the difference between this 👆🏻 and: “I found this new program I’m starting Monday and I’m eliminating sugar and grains for 30 days, and I have a new workout program where I lift 3 days a week, and I can only have carbs on days that start with ‘T’ and also I signed up for a half-marathon.” . You think I’m exaggerating about this ^^^^ but people really love the way it feels to DO ALL THE THINGS. For about 1-2 weeks that is, and then they crash and 🔥. . STOP the MADNESS. Change your habits. Start with ONE thing. Stop relying on MOTIVATION. . If you want to learn more, we recommend “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg and “Switch” by Chip and Dan Heath.📚📚🤓
