Whether that be how chocolate makes you happy, that bowl of oats makes your heart warm, or how too much dairy gives you a belly ache. Food plays a huge role in how our bodies react and respond in everyday life. Fuel it well, respect what it needs and don't abuse the privilege. . . . I'm a huge fan of 80/20. 80% wholesome, 'good for your body' food and 20% wholesome, 'good for your soul' food ❤it isn't about restriction. How to Maximize Muscle Growth by @musclemonsters (inspired by @mattmcleod6 ) _ Some people say fitness is 80% nutrition and 20% training... it’s complete dog shit. If you’re looking to maximize muscle growth, both training AND nutrition have to be 100% in order. _ Training: Progressive Overload is the main pathway by which we build muscle. If you’re getting better (doing more work over time), you’ll get bigger. We also want to ensure we’re training each muscle group 2x per week – not only do we have evidence that this is superior to 1x per week when volume is equal, but strength is a skill and the more we practice it (a given exercise), the better we get. If you want to get the best ROI on your time in the gym, then make compound lifts the focal point of your workouts. Another important training variable is Intensity. This has less to do with how much you sweat and more to do with how heavy you’re lifting relative to your 1 rep max. Try to stay above 55% of your 1RM for the majority of your work in the gym. Then, obviously, we have to do this consistently over time… and because recovery is crucial to muscle growth (and progress in the gym) I highly recommend sleeping 7-9 hours per night. _ Nutrition: If you want to build muscle maximally, you’ve got to eat in a positive energy balance. But eating in a slight surplus isn’t enough… you’ll also want to ensure you’re getting about 1g of protein and 0.4-0.7g of fat per pound of bodyweight (the rest can come from carbs). If we are looking to maximize diet-induced MPS, then I’d recommend getting 3-5 meals per day all consisting of 20-30g of protein per sitting. If you really want to put the icing on the cake, supplement with 5g of creatine per day.

Loose 10 pounds in 3 days 👉🏼and so many more. . . These types of diets & exercises seem credible at first glance. You see the results; it’s working for people. But how do you know it’s not a gimmick? . . Firstly, these diets work because they all have a calorie deficit. . . They’re NOT magic diets. . . They're not all good for you. . . Some of them set you up for FAILURE because you’re starving yourself. Eventually, you’ll crash & as a result, will most likely binge-eat. That’s your brains reaction to starvation, hun. It's a terrible cycle to fall into. . . ‼️It’s uncomfortable. ‼️It’s unsafe. ‼️So why put yourself through that? . . There is a much better way to losing weight & it feels a hell of a lot better too. 5k number two down! Unfortunately the race didn't go as planned hah. This is the third shorter distance race I've done and I did the worst job of conserving my energy this time out of the three. I didn't know going into this that it was downhill for the start and then uphill on the return. Funny how easy it is to not notice a downhill...until you turn around haha. Anyway I really should have known better when I looked at my watch and saw that I was going at a 6:15 pace hah. I guess the positive takeaway there is I'm now pretty sure I have a sub 6 min mile in me. I've always wanted to do an all-out mile, but never have since I've always been focused on endurance running. Still I'm happy with a <22 min time, especially considering how much I was hurting for that last mile! The goal was first to PR and second to get under 21. Neither happened, but it was still fun. Still nearly made the podium! Came in 39th out of ~1300 and 4th in age group! The knee is still being problematic (almost certain it's the IT band) and I'm thinking I'll have to just sit out the entire week. Underestimate me. That’ll me fun. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last week I made my return back to the gym! It's been about 2 months since I've been on a regular lifting schedule. I started Accupunture treatments twice a week, & the AIP Protocol so I haven't been allowed to train legs or do any strenuous activities like cardio/sports etc. At first it was torture, I'll admit! I'm someone who always feels like they need to sweat and push themselves super hard in the gym or I feel like I didn't get a good workout in. But as the weeks went by it actually started to feel kind of nice to slow things down for a change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes your body just needs a break from your regular routine & you just want to live your life & focus on healing your body from the inside. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that! Now it's time to get back on the grind! 📷 @workout_livefree_forever ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
