My exact routine was a reverse pyramid set. I would start with 10 push-ups, then 9 all the way til I reach 1. It got to a point where I worked my way up to 21 push-ups and down to 1. I use my olfactory system when drinking my morning coffee. It amazes me how we can use our senses to immediately change our mood and to be brought back in time...exercise - pour a cup of coffee, close your eyes and allow yourself to reflect. I promised out that you’ll recall a happy moment from your life, just by smelling a cup of coffee... if this doesn’t work try it with a Christmas candle or suntan lotion.
