On this past week’s Wednesday Wisdom I shared about how I’ve been working on combatting negative self talk and how in that process I realized I was holding on to stories that were not true. One kind of funny, lighter one was “I’m not athletic”. This is not true and it’s a limiting belief that I would think and say out loud. Have you ever taken the time to turn your awareness inward and listen to your inner voice? Take notice of how you speak to yourself and what you are saying. Is it critical? Limiting? Would you speak to a friend or child that way? During this process I’ve noticed some “stories” that I’ve been telling myself for years that are simply not true. Many are extremely painful to look back on that I had carried with me since I was a little girl. Dropping them was liberating and empowering. If you notice you are stuck in a story ask yourself 2 questions: is this based in fact and truth? What is the evidence? If it’s not based in fact then it’s a story and if it does not serve you, Drop it. Are there any stories you are carrying with you that are holding you back? But you can emphasize certain muscles more by adjusting your foot stance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Putting your feet higher + wider causes less knee flexion but a little more hip flexion. WideningThus your hamstrings and glutes will have a greater range of motion (ROM) and thus do more work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Putting your feet lower will target more quads because there is less hip flexion but more knee flexion. Thus your quads will do more work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Regardless of how you do it, remember that we all have our own individual anatomy.
