MOTIVATION Some Monday motivation for you. The question of motivation comes up a lot. My favourite quote at the moment is ‘focus on the process and not the outcome. If you do that the outcome is inevitable’. I heard that from @Ross edgley during his Great British Swim antics and he sought out that advice from the Royal Marines. I just saw another example of this today. Back in September former 200m world record holder suffered a stroke and couldn’t walk. He is now ‘pretty much back to normal’ and said that ‘I was achieving tiny little incremental improvements and it gave me hope’. Some really important lessons here for your fitness goals. Focus on the process and the outcome will be inevitable. Make a note of every small win. Just woke up, messy hair, no make up, no glam. - But damn I’m feeling great this Monday morning! Full of energy, ready to hit leg day in about an hour. I had a great weekend, ate healthy, slept well, kept the stress abay. So today, I’m feeling strong and lean and unbloated. - I’ve woken up to Monday mornings aftwr a weekend of eating and drinking and late nights 🍸 and, man ….. this body looks and feels waaaay different. In fact, I wouldn’t even be taking this selfie. So yeah balance is important in life, but you have to question how far do you want to swing the pendulum in either extreme. - Frankly, I’m feeling pretty good with not looking like a puffer fish this Monday morning and then having to spend the rest of the week making up for an overindulgent weekend. 415 NEW PERSONAL RECORD!💪 Had a goal of 405 in mind for this 4-week strength block. Previous max was 375. And on my third squat attempt, after hitting 405, I Hit 415!!!! Very happy with how this turned out. Definitely feel like 425 is around the corner !! Squatting 3x a week definitely feels like it is helping me. Also, I have recently completed my exam. Blame it on the Holidays, but everyone falls off the wagon then tries to recoup to get back on track.💪🏻 . . We are human so do not expect to be perfect. It is best to learn to keep progress sustainable than to just keep dipping far away from your goals after feeling like you have already gone “too far” off of them. . How do I help my clients and I personally recoup after a day or two off of a normal routine? . 💎 Complete every day of your workout protocols. Don’t try and make up for time lost but make them count while you are there, even if you don’t feel like being there. You never regret a workout. . 💎 Make sure you are eating enough protein. Protein is crucial. Helps rebuild and heal your body and metabolism. . 💎 Look at the bigger picture. Realize that progress happens overtime and it takes TIME. One little slip up is not going to mean that your progress will take longer. You are STILL making progress. . 💎 Drink up your water. Staying hydrated and flushing out the toxins in your body helps with digestion and keeps things running smoothly. Bottoms up and drink your water! . 💎 Renew and review your goals and passion. Everyone slips up from time to time because of not feeling inspired or passionate anymore. Giving yourself new goals and reminding yourself why you are in the boat you are helps reset yourself up for continuing success. . Don’t complicate things or make yourself stressed when you miss a day or two of your normal daily routine. Enjoy the moments and memories while they last because tomorrow will be there to get you back to where you left off but the now moment will not be. . . This was a great shot @lisaldemmi captured of me speaking recently. It’s how I’m going to start all of my speaking gigs ow. Your mind is getting in the way of you doing amazing things. It’s a battle all of us go through. So we choose the easy path. The lazy path. After a day, a week, a month or a year we get comfortable. But the desire of doing that one great or soul fulfilling thing with your life will still eat at you. It will keep you up at night. Your primary issues aren’t money-related. Or time. Once your arms fill up with blood and are put under the stress of bicep curls, your arms will look insane. A good arm workout, with bicep curls as the foundation, can have your biceps pump up a few inches from their relaxed state. Another benefit of bicep curls is their ability to specifically target your vanity muscle. Though compound movements are heralded as the king of fitness, isolation movements are also important. And, in my opinion, bicep curls are the king of isolation.
