🧠 Cues for personal training is one of the biggest things you’ll have to become comfortable with as a trainer. Clients don’t just magically know how to perform a deadlift (insert any other lift) and most have no clue as to where their body is in space. It’s our job to guide the client through new exercises and present them in a way that fosters success. A cue is a word or phrase designed to help someone achieve a specific movement. Cueing plays a huge role when it comes to helping clients develop movement quality and it can also be the difference between someone enjoying a session or hating a session. The four biggest things that can help you get the cue correct 1. Choose what’s most important:- Trying to get the client to perform the movement perfectly in the first session isn’t realistic, If you give them too many things to focus on, you’ll both be disappointed. Build it up over time until it’s correct 2. Try different versions of the same cue:- Certain cues work well with some clients and poorly with others. That’s natural because everyone is different. 3. Try an external cue instead of an internal cue:- The idea is to give the client an externally driven cue like “push the floor away,” as opposed to an internally driven one like “push your feet through the floor.” 4. Know when to regress:- There will be times where a client won’t be able to perform a movement no matter what cues you provide. If you’re uncertain of how to regress an exercise just study the movement pattern. What they should be doing/feeling and figure out how to make it easier. Mechanical Dropset 👉 Example . 1. Perform an exercise that places you in a mechanically disadvantaged position that will limit the amount of weight. 2. Use the same weight and immediate after the first movement perform a different movement that places you in a mechanically advantageous position which will allow you to lift more weight. 3. Repeat this process until you complete the desired exercises, sets and reps. . This is a great technique to use which allows you to push further past failure / fatigue which will lead to more muscle growth 💪 I did this to finish my upper body training which was using a 20kg/45lb dumbbell for the following movements: A) Seated DB Shoulder Press B) DB Incline Press C) DB Bench Press Note - 5 reps of ea movement for 2-5 sets . I get asked this question DAILY from SOOO many people/clients: HOW CAN I LOSE WEIGHT/FAT? You know, the answer is pretty simple. No magic, no pills, no injections, no surgeries... Wanna lose weight? ATTENTION⚠️ You have 2 top keys🔑: 1. CALORIE DEFICIT. When I ask my clients to track their food, I get 2 answers 90% of the time: I DON’T HAVE TIME or NO FUCKING WAY I’M TRACKING ALL DAY LONG!!😤 Really? So how is it my fault? Is it because i’m the trainer? Am I supposed to be a magician? Hell no! You want results? You have to work hard and YES! Tracking food is not gonna take much of your time especially now that it became so easy with all these apps we have. Lifting weights is a king YES! But if you don’t regulate your food intake believe me, it’s gonna take like forever to get the body you want. In addition to that, follow the rule 80/20 which means: 80% healthy 20% treat or whatever you wanna call it. 2. STEPS. Start with 8,000-10,000 steps a day. You don’t have to kill yourself on a treadmill to reach your goal, just put a tracking tool (iphone, smart watch like fitbit or apple...) and keep on moving to reach your goal😁 No excuses🤚🏼even if you have an office job and babysitting at night you can manage yourself! Use your treadmill at home that you’re using as a closet!!! Just stay active and you will see the difference from the first week i promise. I found this great little place in Bryanston who will make your meals up to your requirements considering the quantities you want - to stay within your calorie range. The decorated chef who runs the little eatery even mentioned that they will deliver to businesses in the area. I have a few clients in that immediate area- this might be a great help to you guys instead of getting a hotdog at your canteen. Hey 👋 I’m Rosie. There’s lots of new followers here since I had Ayla (and lots gone..mostly men..since I announced my pregnancy 😂). When I first started this account, I’d been competing in bikini/fitness for quite a while and posted a fair bit about fitness and health, and that’s where most people know me from (friends, followers, clients, whatever). And now we’re here: I probably wouldn’t compete again, I am well set into my newborn bliss and I’ve found so many new mums on Instagram, I feel like we’ve got an awesome support network thanks to this social media app and although I’m still passionate about health and fitness, my career looks very different. I’ve actually had lots of followers stick with me this entire journey, where I’ve spoken about my physical and mental health in much detail, tried to provide some value, and gone on plenty of rants. BUT with little bub on my hip, and pregnancy done and dusted, I wanted to go back to sharing more health & fitness stuff with you (you mostly agreed in the poll in my story). But it may be a bit more mummy related, if that’s cool with you guys?
