It really is as simple as this book suggests. Our bodies are amazing, so let’s take care of them! We have been created in the image of God and that involves the whole of our being. We are to care for God’s creation, which includes holistically caring for ourselves.⁣ ⁣ Let’s encourage the next generation with words of truth. Continually remind them that they are created in God’s image and that their identity is in Christ. Again, remind them their value and worth comes from him, not the world.⁣ ⁣ Teach your children that God cares for them as whole people, including their bodies and their health. Recite the healing stories of Jesus and talk about how he healed people holistically, restoring them to physical, spiritual, and social health. Jesus sought the holistic restoration of others, as should we.⁣ ⁣ This book is a good start towards engaging your kids on the topics of health and fitness, but there’s so much more to say from a Christian worldview. Help them to understand wellness from a biblical perspective, which will provide them with a foundation of truth for the rest of their lives.

Still wondering what else you can do to boost your immune system? Manage your stress. No, really. I know that tasks are pressing and time is ticking, but most things can wait when it comes to the difference between health and lack thereof.⁣ ⁣ Unmanaged stress has been associated with many conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, cognitive impairment, autoimmune disease, and diabetes—just to name a few. You may have even experienced symptoms of stress, such as mood swings, difficulty sleeping, reduced immunity, cravings, fatigue, digestive issues—again, just to name a few.⁣ ⁣ Therefore, managing stress is crucial in overall health, and is key to a well-functioning immune system. Stress management will largely depend on the individual, but here are a few suggestions: Prioritize optimal sleep, manage your priorities and be mindful of your time (learn to say no), practice gratitude and acceptance, or change your perspective (try to view the situation causing you stress from a more positive viewpoint). What else helps you manage stress?⁣ ⁣ As a believer, pray that the Lord would show you what it is that he is trying to teach you through the stress that you are experiencing. Yes, pray for relief, but also pray that the Lord would guide you towards ways in which you can best manage your stress. Pray that he would reveal what needs to change whether it be your perspective, commitments, or something else. If you need to work up to full 360s, here's a great place to start: front and back pendulums. In the front, control is key. Let it move from side to side with control, slow and smooth and steady. In the back, you'll also be developing control and grip strength, as well as shoulder mobility. Don't force anything, but relax and let the mace stretch your shoulders while you keep your core tight and engaged, pulling your ribs down, with a slight bend in your knees to protect your lower back. Sleep plays a key role in regulating the immune system, as well as how the body functions as a whole. Therefore, a sure way to boost the immune system is to get an adequate amount of quality sleep. This is especially important during cold and flu season when our sleep often gets a hit due to college finals, the holidays, or other seemingly pressing circumstances. However, we can’t function well if we don’t sleep contrary to what our minds may say in the moment.⁣ ⁣ Both quantity and quality of sleep are important aspects to address. On average, we need 7-9 hours of sleep per night according to the research while some people may need more, or some may need less (this is less often the case). Think back to a time when you got an optimal amount of sleep. How did you feel?⁣ ⁣ Set yourself up for successful sleep by addressing sleep hygiene. Here are a few tips: Reduce artificial light and blue light exposure in the evening hours, which affects our circadian rhythm and cortisol levels. Use an alarm clock instead of your phone as an alarm. Sleep with your phone across the room or in another room completely.⁣ ⁣ Make your bedroom as dark as possible and keep it comfortably cool. Move your body during the day and eat a healthy diet, especially being mindful of what foods benefit or hinder your sleep quality. Finally feeling good enough to put this whole flow together, and it sure felt good! Spending the last couple days mostly in bed and hurting, I needed to get up and move. Didn't set a timer or anything, just kept going, playing around with the reps, and getting in the zone. Wish I had gotten in on the body weight challenge @coach_rt3 put on next, but I gotta protect my guts. Here’s a movement tip and an entertaining picture for ya on #trainertiptuesday. 😂 How do you integrate movement into your daily routine?⁣ ⁣ I’d planned to share a much different picture and caption, but plans changed when this ensued tonight. While the picture is quite chaotic, it was achieving that exact goal. Integrating daily movement!⁣ ⁣ There are many ways to integrate movement into your day. Most of us are familiar with parking our cars further away or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. But, there’s so much more we can do! Have a list of a few bodyweight exercises you can do every 30-45 minutes at your desk at work. Just a few reps can do the trick! Integrate movement while cooking, watching TV, or other chores around the house. Or, like me… move while you’re playing with your kids! ⁣ ⁣ While I’m playing with my daughter, I’ll often stretch, do core work, bodyweight exercises, or work on my mobility. Sometimes I’ll foam roll, use bands, or just move my body. As you can tell, my daughter will often want to join in on the fun! Today, she was pretending I was a firetruck and then proceeded to try to do “flips” off of me. I got sidelined for a couple days because of some kidney stones, but I'm feeling a lot better now. So it was time to celebrate with 360s! Special shoutout to @pressurediamondclothingco for the shirt helping an ugly guy like me get complemented on all the time. I did them in two different sessions today, 250 each. Played around with different reps and sets, but finished up with 2 sets of 75 each side with a 15 pounder. Now let's get back on with this challenge! As promised, some progressions moving toward 360s will be posted tomorrow. ----------- I love a good challenge, and enjoyed the one @coach_rt3 just organized, so I figured I'd get in on the fun. This challenge will be longer and take more commitment, but that's the point. Commit to a number of #steelmace 360s to do over the month of December, and chip away at it everyday. Here are the rules: -Tag me in your video everyday -Record your number every day in the video or comments (total, not the reps for that day) -Tag #steelmace in the video -Do it in a different place everyday. The point of this challenge is to expose people to the wonderful world of steel mace training. Be creative! But don't like go to a Walmart or pet store. That's obnoxious. If you want some extra fun, follow @coach_rt3 and @boldfittechnique for their body weight challenges starting soon. The prize is your own satisfaction for committing to doing something hard.
