THE UNSTABLE SHOULDERS 🤕 | How do you strengthen yours?! To master the advanced exercises in Pilates and yoga, you need to take time to work on your shoulder stability as well as your mobility. . Clients often come to me with Shoulder pain, particularly with overhead activity (think of all those weights your lifting over your head at the gym!) weakness, feelings of the shoulder giving way and/or a sense of looseness which can all be signs of an unstable shoulder. . The ball and socket joint of the shoulder (glenohumeral joint) is inherently an unstable joint 1️⃣the ball is significantly larger than its socket and 2️⃣ the socket itself is very shallow! Add to this 3️⃣ it’s the most mobile joint in the body and has a wide range of motion! . It is the rotator cuff muscles and ligaments of the shoulder that need to be strong to help to stabilise this joint. . 👀 I will be posting some progressions and tips on how to execute the bigger weight bearing pilates exercises (without injury!) soon.
