I am struggling to get my head around the mileage I have to run for the @londonmarathon and I think this is getting in the way of my training. I have done one marathon before but I cannot remember the training feeling quite like this, but I am now working and teaching a lot more plus am that little bit older. These are not excuses and I need to be sensible and incorporate my training and rest into my week properly. Also not to panic, to believe in myself and achieve this dream. This morning’s run was all about switching off pain receptors and just running with the mind controlling the body. Saturday was 42.2km followed by Sunday 21.1km. Rested Monday and Tuesday morning training resumed with this predominantly uphill 11km. Yes the 1st km I was feeling sorry for myself and i ran that 1st km at 7:00min/km as a warm up for the sore legs. Thereafter I decided well let me just die once and finish this run. The mind then switched the concentration from the heavy and painful legs and focused on just breathing and running light ie not pounding hard on the road and A LOTS OF self affirmations 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. At 9km my running buddy said “let’s push sub5:15min/km pace for this km” and I looked at him with a look that says “are you mad?” but my mouth uttered “ok”. Then at 10km he said “my friend let’s just die on this last km” and i heard myself reply with “ok let’s push for sub5min/km pace” and yes I paid heavily on this last km but sub5min pace was delivered 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️. This was just purely a Mind over body run on heavy legs. Well session 1 of 2 is done. .Weekly meal prep. We’ve been able to save for all our renovations by prepping salads for lunches every weekend. Just $12 in ingredients total - for the whole weeks worth plus protein for at least one dinner! We’ve been doing this for a year and a half now. Compare that to how we both used to buy a $7-$12 lunch 3 times a week and the savings easily add up. People often ask me if I ever get tired of eating the same thing all the time and the answer is YES. Yes I do. But then I think about all the money we’ve saved and what we are able to do to the house with it. To me, the sacrifice is a no brainer.

So some of you may have seen a post a week and a bit ago where I stated I was taking on my second Ultra Marathon, some people have asked how it went, so here's an update now I am feeling rested. I started off the event well, and was feeling pretty good, not going out to fast and felt I was on target, until around the 20km mark when I felt a small cramp kick in which didn't want to go away, no matter how much salt, fluids, electrolytes and even anti cramp spray I had, nothing seemed to stop it long enough to run I smashed my head a couple of times on the trail, about 37.5km in, and 45km (which I think felt close to knocking me out). One tip I've learnt from this: When running through trailed area with low hanging branches... Might pay to either turn your cap around or pay bloody good attention to where you're going. As the event went on, the cramp continued and even started to expand over my entire body, if I straightened my arm, my arm would cramp. If I walked up a hill in the wrong way, one leg would cramp stepping up, and the other would cramp if I straightened it to much when lifting up. My neck cramped up once, leaning down to take a sip from my bottle, the right side of my body even cramped up a couple of times as well. I so wanted to toss it in early, knowing I had the climb out of Okataina and some stairs coming up near blue lake (although this year they seemed a lot smaller) but I kept going determined to finish. I knew my goal of beating last year's time stood no chance, so I figured I would see just how long it would take me. Turns out coming in with a time of 23 hrs, 53 mins & 29 seconds at 5:55am in last place feels bloody amazing. I had tears of joy & was so happy that my friends who had been out on that trail had even gotten out of bed to come down to see me across the line. Got in my workout a little late. Only slept 2 hours last night and had to be at work at 5am 😭. On week 3 of training! Almost halfway through and I am now halfway through my kitchen training! Oh my gosh this week! It has been a particularly crazy one. I've been completely off my schedule and out of my normal routine and my body can feel it. Although I would say I've been sticking pretty closely to my workouts and nutrition, I've definitely missed a workout here or there and healthy choices on the go aren't the same. I am definitely feeling...gross. It's late and I'm leaving at 6am to try to catch morning rounds at the hospital. I'm exhausted but I can't stand this blah feeling. So, workout it is. 20 minutes at 10:15pm and done. And here we go... . #repost @dabndoyoga with @get_repost ・・・ 💥Get your goals going challenge💥 Dab N Do challenge (Feb 18th - Feb 21th) Dab N do is idea that came up with while travel canada, I choose a move which is the dab that is symbol for celebrating and living to do in almost every picture and every place I pass by, while I was having fun with people I was also working on projects that allows me to keep traveling and living After a while I figured let's put the steps I follow into a challenge and share it with people who would benefit from it. 💥The steps are as follows:💥 day 1: decision (deciding your goal) day 2: action (start working on the goal) day 3: dedication (staying on track or keep working on that goal). day 4: result (you reach the short term goal or you got to a result, you learned something or you got somewhere). you are invited to jump right in by posting a pose/ a picture with friends/ a selfie /picture of your dog /a picture of your ass cheek or any type of picture. adding to the caption #dabndo saying which day is it!
