Wanna know something bizarre? In the picture on the left, I was following a very spot on nutrition guide created by a super trainer & working out around 3 times a week. . . You probably don’t believe me by looking at that picture😂 For most people, that would have created a flat belly, clear skin, muscle tone, etc., but for me, it caused me to blow up. . . Why? Because I found out shortly after that I was “allergic” to carbs. I’m insulin resistant, so the amount of carbs that MOST people eat when working out (or even just sustaining a normal life) didn’t work for me. So I had to go BACK to the drawing board and rethink everything I had ever learned about health & fitness. . . It made me realize that there is more than one path from point A to reach point B. Everyone gets results in their own way. It can be frustrating when something you’re trying that “works for everyone” doesn’t work for you. I know, trust me - but KEEP TRYING. I had to experiment for months to figure out what worked. . . Our bodies (especially women’s bodies) are such complex organisms. You have to spend some time experimenting to figure out what works for YOU. Don’t give up. Just pause, reflect, and reset!🌀💟🌸

So I have a confession to make, I slept in a little this morning. 🤫 . Now, I could have skipped my workout today BUT I pushed play AFTER work and got it done! . Work was a little hectic today, so in all honesty, the workout did me more good than it normally does! . I worked on Chest and Triceps with some heavy weights; LOTS of reps! Today my speaker stopped working so I listened to the workout and how motivating @thechrisdowning is! And luckily for me it happened at the perfect spot, because I NEEDED it to push through and not give up on the rest of my workout, because that was hard! Last year when I did this program for the first time, I took his advice and wrote positive affirmations on my markers, and they are still the same this year! My anxiety has been through the roof lately and I do my affirmations EVERYDAY so that I can be my best me and to start my day with a positive attitude, which is really important so I don’t go crazy on people 😜! I struggle everyday, just like you. I have my downfalls, and plenty of them. I eat junk food, probably too much of it lately. But the one thing that I make sure of EVERYDAY - is showing up for myself, physically & mentally! Can you say the same about yourself? I’m not saying this to brag and say I’m perfect, because I am FAR from it, but I strive to be better everyday and want the same for everyone else, the world would be so much happier!! Never miss a Monday. Especially if that Monday is the beginning of a new fitness journey. I used to always joke and wonder why anyone in their right mind would pay money to run a race. #runningistheworst Welp, now I’m one of them. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m currently 6 months post ACL reconstruction, and I’m 6 months out from running my first ever half marathon. Don’t worry. I’m following the advice of my physical therapists, so don’t @ me. So, let the journey begin! I’m sure I’ll stumble along the way. I’m sure I’m going to want to give up at some point. But today, on Day 1, I showed up and that is most of the battle. Half Marathon Training Day 1 - 500 rep challenge with 100 burpee finisher thanks to the amazing Burn Bootcamp (today I was with @burnbootcampnwraleigh sorry @burnbootcampsouthdurham I still love you!) and 0.25 walk/jog intervals for 1 1/2 miles total. 💪🏻 Last week I pulled a muscle in my leg.⠀ I’m notorious for pushing too hard and I find it difficult to ease up. Learning how to be gentle and respect the signals my body gives me has proven itself difficult for me & in the past I just gave up and felt guilty and weak and angry at my body for not being 18 anymore. A huge part of this year is about moving past that, changing the voices in my head, and finding what feels good. Feeling better now, so here’s to moving forward and getting in all 3 workouts this week!!!
