Bloody brilliant morning @crossfitnapalm this morning with @gijo39 we both smashed 50 * 45kg hang cleans amongst box overs, DB squat snatch & dubs. Then went on to do some ace 1rm work. I managed an easy 70kg hang squat clean which I’ve only ever done a squat at that weight from the floor probably once. The aim of Yoga is to still the fluctuations of the mind. Ps, it's okay to talk about periods, we're humans, we reproduce, we have hormones, if it wasn't for these we wouldn't exist so we need to praise the period 🙌🏼 no need to be prudish about it 🤐 🙄 lol! But, let's talk about PMT! The bane of our damn lives!🙄 • I'm on day 24 of my cycle, and don't I know it! For women in general this really can take over our lives. We get pains, mood swings, 'hangry', boobswelling, tummy bloating, etc. But when you're on a mission to change your body it can become a bit of a nemesis for the simple reason that different stages of your cycle literally bring out a different person! I'm currently in the #lutealphase which I noticed yesterday due to bloating and craving. However this phase is also a time where my metabolism is boosted, so there are actual benefits regardless of my bloat!! • • 🧠 💣 As females we should try to use this phase to our advantage by actively/knowingly eating slightly more. Couple this with higher metabolism means it is a prime time to get in the gym and do some damage for overall body composition results! Lift heavier, do more reps, literally try to use those excess calories and carb cravings to your advantage. Maybe cycle your training plan to your menstrual cycle, so if you're rotating between hypertrophy, endurance and strength portions, put strength training in at the luteal phase and your carbs and calories up that week without guilt! 7 days: tight, over-trained muscles called for a trip to @ep.bodywork.therapy yesterday 💪🏼 At the end of the day, training is a stress on the body and over time muscles get tight, mobility decreases & muscle activation can be harder to achieve 😣 and sometimes you need a little more than stretching & foam rolling to help you 😅 Fun fact: I used to be terrified of needles... apparently not anymore 🤷🏽‍♀️
