🌟 BACK DAYYYY 🌟⁣ I’ve really grown to like (not love) working out my back. I used to avoid it because I preferred to work out other body parts. ⁣ Then I realized (due to some imbalances) that it’s so important to work out all of your muscles, you can’t pick favorites 😉 ⁣ —⁣ My goal is to be able to do 10 pull-ups before June. As you can see in the first video I can’t even do one 😅😅😅 ⁣ I started doing negatives and I mix it with rows and deadlifts and that’s it! Trying to keep it simple because if I do too many things, I won’t finish it (especially when it’s already a muscle group I don’t particularly wanna work out in the first place). ⁣ —⁣ 🌟 Negative pull-ups: I did about 10 of these before lifting and another 10 afterwards. They were hard and they made me question my level of fitness lol ⁣ 🌟 Deadlifts: I do lightweight on these, I’m only lifting 85 pounds here- and I do 5 sets of 20 reps. I love doing this because it’s been too cold and rainy to do any cardio outside so by doing deadlifts this way I get my heart rate up like I’m running sprints. It’s a calorie crusher fo sho 💥 ⁣ 🌟 Bent over rows: so I’m using the same 85 pounds from my deadlifts and in between my sets of deads I’m doing as many rows as I can (about 8-10). ⁣ 🌟Single arm rows: I usually use a dumbbell and the bench for these but I did them standing with a kettlebell today and I liked them a lot more! I need to start incorporating more single arm and single leg workouts, I didn’t realize how much weaker my left arm is compared to my right lol it’s pathetic. ⁣ —⁣ I hope y’all are having a great day! ⁣ I’m officially heading to Florida on Saturday so I’m in the final stretch of packing everything up and I’ll start loading things Friday afternoon. I’m ready to get out of this cold weather ☀️☀️☀️☀️

State #17 done!!! And it was a cold, wet one🥶 we decided to go to Hattiesburg today since it looked like the least amount chance of rain😒 it was supposed to be at least mid 50’s today- I think the temp was about 48 the whole time. We lucked out from the rain for a little bit until a little before our halfway point we had about 20 mins of a good rain. Stopped at mile 25 and ate some snacks, and from then on all the way back it rained, and rained, and rained some more. I’ve never been so cold and wet- my feet completely wet and frozen- we stopped at a gas station about mile 35 for some hot coffee- the young girl saw us walk in and said “Y’all picked the wrong day to ride”- yes, thank you we know that 😔🤣🤣 But we stuck through and there was no way we weren’t going to finish!!! Definitely a mental challenge today. The bike path and riding were actually very decent! Legs felt fresh- or maybe it’s cause my feet hurt so bad it masked the pain🙈🤣 This rain needs to quit here- we still gotta get Louisiana while we are here😬 good news is I think it’s finally going to warm into the 70’s for the rest of our week here🤞🏼 time to shower and decide where to eat some good dinner!!

Client Spotlight 🔦 It’s coming up on two years working with this gorgeous chick! The left side pic is 4/2017 when she started training with me. She was very fit & active when she came to me. Most people would be over the moon to look like this before pic 🖤 But @heather_4hd wanted more shape..more definition. And maybe to someday compete!! So many people come to me who are exercising on a regular basis & “eating clean” but feel frustrated that they don’t have defined arms or “better” glutes. Everyone is surprised when I prescribe more food, less cardio & calculated heavier workouts that truly target desired areas 🎯 Totally different than spot reducing an area. Not possible!!!! Bodyfat comes off evenly & an already lean physique is not going to “diet down” to show hidden muscles. Build muscles & don’t over eat junk. Eat good amounts of protein & carbs AND fats to fuel those muscles. Things you need to stop doing RIGHT now in order to reach your goals👇 ••• 1. Googling how to get the result you want the quickest. How often have you looked up “how to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks” or something along those lines? I’ve been there. I’m also here to tell you that deep down, you don’t truly want these fix quick results. they aren’t healthy and they aren’t sustainable. So you will be right back to square one, or even worse than you were to begin with which will leave you frustrated and defeated. Slow and steady wins the race. . 2. Neglecting your rest days. Less really can be more. Going to the gym everyday and continuing to put stress on your body isn’t going to get you anywhere any faster. It’s actually going to the opposite. Your body needs time to recover and repair. You will see more changes in your body (and mental state) if you chill and give yourself AT LEAST 1-2 rest days a week. . 3. Comparing yourself to others. No matter what you do, you won’t be anybody but yourself. So instead of using so much energy and spending all your time trying to be like another person, you can be working on bettering yourself. I’ve practiced yoga on and off for years… but then climbing became the thing I loved to do and I focused less and less on yoga. At the beginning of the year I planned to focus on my flexibility and mobility and I started to reconnect with yoga. This week I find myself at @houseofzen_portugal with the best friend, Elisa. I’m not far from Sintra, and while I would love to go and check out the climbing, this trip is for yoga, relaxation, and most importantly, hanging out with Elisa. Today we had our first yoga sessions: #hatha in the morning; #pranayama and #meditation in the afternoon (with an hour and a half of massage in between - it was pure bliss!). . Two aspects of yoga which I’ve never been particularly interested in is spirituality and meditation. Maybe because when I started yoga in my teens, spirituality wasn’t something which was important to me. As for meditation… I’ve always struggled with it in yoga. I’m incredibly glad I attended the pranayama and meditation session. For the first time I managed to clear my mind of the chattering monkey while being completely still. The session ended with a reminder that yoga isn’t just about the asanas. It is also about being able to be aware and control one’s thoughts, and be present.
