Honestly, I am trying not to think about all the junk that Drayton is consuming at college. 😩 So many believe that kids can handle eating a lot of junk while they are young, but is that really true? I mean what about all the kids that are suffering from #allergies, #anxiety, #depression, #skinissues, stomach issues etc. And just today, I found out that a daughter, of one of my friends from high school, was diagnosed with #cancer, in her teens. Lets continue our conversation from last week.. let's have #truthfulthursday Gut health.. what causes problems and what are signs?? 👇👇👇👇 Many part of our modern life such as high stress levels, too little of sleep, eating processed and high-sugar foods, and taking antibiotics can all damage our gut microbiome. What other aspects of our health can it affect?? The brain, heart, immune system, skin, weight, hormone levels, ability to absorb nutrients, and even the development of cancer. Here are seven of the most common signs that you may have an unhealthy gut.... 1. Upset stomach Like gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and heartburn can all be signs of an unhealthy gut. A balanced gut will have less difficulty processing food and eliminating waste. 2. A high-sugar diet A diet high in processed foods and added sugars can decrease the amount of good bacteria in your gut. This imbalance can cause increased sugar cravings, which can damage your gut still further. High amounts of refined sugars, particularly high-fructose corn syrup, have been linked to increased inflammation in the body. Inflammation can be the precursor to a number of diseases and even cancers. 3. Unintentional weight changes Gaining or losing weight without making changes to your diet or exercise habits may be a sign of an unhealthy gut. An imbalanced gut can impair your body’s ability to absorb nutrients, regulate blood sugar, and store fat. Weight loss may be caused by small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), while weight gain may be caused by insulin resistance or the urge to overeat due to decreased nutrient absorption. 4. Sleep disturbances or constant fatigue An unhealthy gut may contribute to sleep disturbances such as insomnia or poor sleep, and therefore lead to chronic fatigue. The majority of the body’s serotonin, a hormone that affects mood and sleep, is produced in the gut. So gut damage can impair your ability to sleep well. Some sleep disturbances have also been linked to risk for fibromyalgia. 5. Skin irritation Skin conditions like eczema may be related to a damaged gut. I developed vitiligo 4 years ago and at the time I didn't understand why it had happened to me, and in my face, on top of it! I have a streak of skin on my forehead, a small patch of hair and half my eyebrow have discoloured and are completely white. People ask me what it is, and the more creative have even called me "Anna" from Frozen! After doing my genetic test with @maxgenlabs and being in this field for a while, I learned that gluten is one of the culprits behind my autoimmune disease. And since I'm now at a higher chance of developing another autoimmune disease (a disease where a part of your body attacks itself), I'm very careful of what I eat, what I put on my body and of my mindset. Your health is important! Why must we always push it aside 😩 When was the last time you put yourself first? When was the last time you put your HEALTH first? Normally something drastic has to happen before we choose to take things seriously. Honestly if you can prevent drastic health changes from happening...what’s stopping you? Why is it so hard to do that? We are so focused on getting more, living more, saving money, but then using it towards temporary things when we could be putting it towards our long term health. Investing in the very home that allows us to live on this planet as a human. It really does save you money in the long run. Heal yourself and doing the maintenance now so you aren’t paying for it later. Trust me, I was the queen of waiting until things were unbearable and my pain tolerance is way high. I had to change my food habits on the drop of a dime last year - real quick - because I was very sick. I couldn’t eat, my tummy said “ENOUGH!” Listen. Once I felt and saw how I just glowed switching how I was eating and what I was eating, changing my habits, I could not go back to how I used to feel. Bloated, constipated, and just not enjoying meals because I felt full or unsatisfied. My workout regime centered completely around my gut. My bloating ran my life. I felt the other side and that’s how I wanted to feel all the time. Looking good and feeling good from the inside out. Put your health first, that includes going to the dentist, your choice in foods, in products you use, in getting the help you need from doctors and coaches. Holistic doctors want to prevent disease and discomfort in the body, they want you vibrant and out there living your best life! I’m sure you want that too. So why not do the research, take care of ourselves naturally, put our health first for once and stop complaining and whining and actually get to the bottom of our pain. Fix it for good and have the knowledge to heal ourselves for the future! What are you avoiding looking at or taking care of mentally, physically or emotionally?
