Are you constipated? Check your hydration! The wonderful H20 helps to keep your intestines smooth and flexible to push food through efficiently. Also, as water is SO important for the body, if you don’t drink enough it will reabsorb most of the water in food and waste, resulting in dry and hard stools which are difficult to pass 🙄 . . Aim for 2-3L per day. You could buy a big bottle of water, or keep a running tally of how many glasses you drink. You could also add cut up strawberries, mint or citrus fruits to give it a bit of flavour. Herbal teas are good, but alcohol and caffeine actually dehydrate you 😕

MUM | my mums health has been deteriorating for the last five or so years. Diagnosed with coeliac disease, she went gluten free. Getting some relief initially, her health then started to worsen. She became paranoid about gluten. When she heard of the initial success Noah was having with GAPS she bought the book and jumped on board too. Feeling initially great like we had for the first few months, her health started to slide once more. Her mental health took a turn and she started to suffer from anxiety over and above adrenal fatigue. Frightened for her, I asked her to move in with us and I cared for her for several months while we worked on all the recommended GAPS suggestions for her symptoms. Stage 2 with juicing and egg shakes. Ox bile and HCL pepsin for digestion. Niacin, tyrosine and glutamine. Fermented CLO. Organs. Salt loading, selenium. High dose vitamin c. Magnesium orally and via epsom soaks. All the essential oils and more things I probably didn’t even know she was doing in an effort to help herself. She continued to get worse. Noah continued to get worse. What did they both have in common? An inability to progress with fermented foods. My mum couldn’t tolerate drops of aerobic kraut juice made in mason jars. Nor kefir made open-gauze style. So when I started Noah on Pickl-It I practically forced her into it at the same time. I made carrot juice and beet kvass for her and delivered them to her home. I bought and delivered her jars and taught her how to make fermented potato and onion juice. I gave her frozen dosa batter and well.. you catch the drift. She didn’t really have a choice. Exhausted by her symptoms she has been depressed and pessimistic. I’ve been calling her daily, listening to her describe her die off symptoms, encouraging her to push through. It’s been hard. She’s so tired but still bravely following my guidance. Today she gave me the her first good news since starting. She has stopped both ox bile and HCL pepsin, no longer feeling the need to aid digestion thanks to Pickl-It. Oh god let the good news keep coming 🙏🙏🙏
