My gut needs a lot of work but overall it's not unhealthy, just out of balance. I have Leaky gut and Sibo but once my gut is back in balance, they should disappear! All of this will be massively contributing to the healing of my bladder too so hopefully all of these supplements will help assist my gut whilst on antibiotics and get me off of them quicker! Once my bladder is healed I can focus even more so on my gut. I'll also be experimenting with foods that don't agree with me in small doses but wheat and sugar have to be extremely limited if not avoided all together. It's a long journey but I'm so glad that I have answers and a plan! Being in the dark with your own health can be so tough and it's hard to remain positive at times. 💛Here’s a story from Jennifer and her 4 year old daughter who suffered from eczema: ⭐️Harper always had mild eczema. Since birth she’s eaten mostly clean/paleo, and uses natural home/personal care products. We were trying to do what we could to prevent eczema flair ups. Last year she had a major flair up on the backs of her legs; it was inflamed, angry and spreading. We couldnʼt control it. I believe God gives us the tools we need to heal naturally and through research, I believed the key to healing the eczema was through healing her gut; I just didnʼt know it would end up being through a little pink tablet! ⭐️BEFORE PLEXUS: ••We tried expensive probiotics, vitamins, essential oils, and supplements. It can be uncomfortable, sometimes embarrassing, and if it gets bad enough, can impact your quality of life. # It’s always best to start with the basics that are easy to do before going down the rabbit hole of testing for possible gut infections or overgrowths, which can certainly be the cause of poor digestion. # If you missed my post from yesterday, go back and check that one out, too. # Food sensitivities are a common culprit of bloating. Keep a food journal of everything you eat as well as how you feel after and try to connect the dots and eliminate the ones you don’t tolerate. # Eating plenty of fermented foods and fiber feeds from fruits and veggies increases and feeds the good bacteria in your gut. Having an imbalance of bad to good bacteria can cause food to go undigested. Eating enough fiber also helps food move through your digestive tract faster. # Loading up on the veggies is the best way to get your fiber, but if you suffer from bloating, it could eat to eat them well cooked instead of raw. # Dehydration can lead to digestive problems, as your body needs plenty water to break down food and assimilate nutrients. Aim for 1/2 your bodyweight in oz plus a little more on days you exercise. # Bone broth is great at healing and sealing the gut, and drinking ginger tea can help soothe the stomach as well as help with the motility of your intestines. Lemon water is another great option as it can provide some of the acid your stomach needs to digest food, especially protein. # Supplements can also help. Probiotics, digestive enzymes, HCL, magnesium, gelatin, and collagen can help repair the gut, populate it with beneficial bacteria, and give you the digestive “fire” (enzymes and acid) you need to break down food.

Soup de jour - Bowl of NOURISHMENT 🌞 *Corriander, squash and coconut milk blended with Irish dillisk seaweed for an extra nutritional kick. Topped this off with some gut lovin homemade sauerkraut and moorish nutritional yeast 🌻 - 1/2 a large squash. 2 onions. 1 clove of garlic. 1 tin of coconut milk (organic if possible). A small handful of dried irish dillisk seaweed. One bunch of fresh corriander 1/2 a veg stock cube (I use kallo) Olive oil Salt and pepper to taste * * * * * * * * Roast all veg with olive oil for 30-40 mins at 180.C then blend in an electric blender with hot water, and the rest of the ingredients until smooth. One of my favorite breakfasts lately is grit bowls! For a while I stayed away from corn products while trying to figure out what’s best for my skin. 💁🏼‍♀️ I reintroduced corn into my diet late last year, and it’s been great! The only corn products I really eat are grits from our local farmers market ( @redstickfarmersmarket ) and those delicious gf pizza crusts from Trader Joe’s. For this bowl I cooked my grits with some nutritional yeast and some hot sauce then topped with cooked mushrooms, onions and bell peppers + avocado + Cultured Guru Kimchi + everything but the bagel seasoning! 😋 #culturedguru

Yesterday we were all feeling a little under the weather, and I honestly forgot about dinner. (Tell me im not the only one?!) 5pm rolled around and I was caught off guard by hungry + scavenging kiddos. I looked through the pantry and fridge to see what we had. I ended up being able to make this delicious vegan and gluten free “Alfredo” pasta with broccoli and peas. . I used @eatbanza pasta, peas and broccoli. For the sauce I used: - soaked raw cashews - 2tsp of nutritional yeast (I use one that does not contain folic acid) - a pinch of salt - pepper - 1 cup veggie broth (I like to use bone broth as well for gut health!) - 1tsp maple syrup - 1 large garlic clove - 1 sautéed white onion - add everything to a blender and blend until creamy smooth. Add more or less water to your desired constency! . Before I joined a wellness company I knew very little about supplements and hormones. I just knew I wanted to feel as good as my friend Randsa Jordan was feeling. But thankfully I’m a learner and here’s a snippet of what I’ve learned over the past few years: Our metabolisms change as we get older 🥴 and here is some great insight into understanding the changes. 😊 These four organs produce the hormones that control your metabolism: 🔸1. Pancreas - After you eat, your pancreas secretes insulin, a hormone that allows cells to absorb glucose from the bloodstream and use it for energy. 🔸2. Thyroid - The butterfly shaped gland churns out two hormones - T3 and T4 - that effect virtually every cell in your body, helping regulate vital functions like breathing, heart rate, and more. 🔸3. Body Fat - Fat cells make leptin, a chemical that tells your brain that you're full. When leptin levels get too low (which can happen if you're on a diet), your body slows metabolism to conserve energy. 🔸4. Adrenal Glands - this pair of organs ups cortisol production in response to stress. Cortisol increases your blood glucose levels  to provide extra energy in a crisis. But, if you don't burn off that glucose, it gets stored as fat. These are four health problems that may affect metabolism: 🔹1. Thyroid disorders - An overactive thyroid (called HYPERthyroidism) can cause your metabolism to speed up into overdrive. An underactive throid (HYPOthyroidism) can make it slow to a crawl. Fortunately, both conditions can be controlled. 🔹2. Pre-Diabetes -  This condition elevates insulin levels, which inhibits fat metabolism. But lifestyle measures such as exercise and a low glycemic diet can help repair metabolism. 🔹3. Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis - Neither condition effects metabolism directly, but both can make exercise painful - and not exercising enough can lead to muscle loss and a drop in metabolism. 🔹4. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) - Women with this hormonal imbalance are at a higher risk of developing insulin resistance, which can in turn impact metabolism. Throwback Thursday I woke up this morning feeling extremely fatigued and tachy. I’ll admit I’m not feeling all that positive and bubbly... as I sit here at my desk wishing I was home. I’m wallowing in misery... I’m kicking myself in the pants because I’m flaring up. I’m caught between the mental battle of giving up/calling quits right now or ignoring my symptoms and pressing on. So I started scrolling through my personal Instagram account and found this photo of myself from 2 years ago when I was on one of my many fitness highs and this quote called out to me... I’m suffering now so I guess I’ve got that part down lol but it’s so easy to contemplate quitting when things get the least bit tough or challenging mentally. At least that’s where my struggle is. It’s not the physical it’s the mental. During my workout yesterday I chose to challenge myself and go up in weight and even though I couldn’t hit all the target reps after each circuit was complete I kept saying to myself “one more rep for those who can’t” because I know what it’s like not to be able to be active. Now I didn’t go crazy up in weight just an additional 5 lbs. and I was able to complete between 8-10 reps of each exercise in C1 & C2 Which was an accomplishment for me. But I’m definitely paying for it now 🤷🏽‍♀️🥴🤦🏽‍♀️ I feel like I’m rambling and I probably am but this is a reminder to myself and anyone struggling to stay the course. (Whatever that may be) Winners never quit and quitters never win. It’s tough now but the day isn’t over and the fat lady hasn’t sung. I’m a habitual person. I have the same morning routine and I do the same things in the evening before bed. I like a schedule and to know what is coming next and yet I married a man who is in the Army. The military is unpredictable as it should be to keep the men and women safe. With this life comes a lot of sacrifices. In special operations, there is an even higher amount of sacrifice that happens within the family life. There is an unbelievable amount of adjustments made from the guys being gone for deployments or training (just because they are stateside doesn’t mean that they get a lot of family time. It usually equates to more training) Most of their training takes them away from where they are stationed and away from their families, again. A lot of them are also taking college classes to prepare themselves for getting out of the military on top of all of the things I mentioned above. They are passionate and very skilled when it comes to what they do. They are leaders. At some point all of this has the opportunity to take its toll on the families and the soldiers. No one addresses the fact that these guys (because of their jobs) can get very sick (illnesses related to prolonged stress, TBI, PTSD and autoimmune diseases galore) There has to yet to be a conversation around prevention and how to protect the brain when working in this kind of an environment. The conversations need to start. They more than deserve to have the information and opportunity to protect themselves. Especially, if it is as easy as making nutritional adjustments. Now, I know that not everyone would be up for making nutritional changes. That is not my decision to make. RECIPE: - 3/4 cup (150g) almond meal - 3/4 cup (85g) coconut flour - 1/3 cup (45g) @nuviaproducts sweetener - 1/2 cup (70g) currants - 1 cup almond milk - 3 tbsp coconut oil - 2 tbsp cinnamon - 1 tsp ginger - 1 tsp nutmeg - 8 squares @loving_earth chocolate 1. Mix everything (except the chocolate) in a bowl, slowly adding the almond milk until combined (but not wet!) 2. Form into balls and refrigerate until firm (~3 hours) 3. Melt chocolate and pipe crosses on balls (if you don’t have a piping bag use a zip lock bag and cut off a tiny home in one of the corners) . . . . 📷@healthybodhealthymind
