~ balance ~ ayurveda to balance body / yoga to balance mind / tantra to balance energy ~ . . I’ve found it hard to articulate the profound shift in perspective I experienced during my time in bali. I’ve studied + practiced ayurveda, yoga, and more recently the teachings of tantra in blurry lines of isolation, but I had never explored all three together as interconnected, woven streams. . . until now. two weeks with @bradhay32 + @shaktimamamia I’ve finally started to connect the dots. while the scope of what’s to learn has grown exponentially, I humbly accept there’s a lifetime + more of study ahead of me. I’m more in awe of these teachings than ever before, and I walked away from the training strongly believing in the power + importance of understanding the practice + accepting the teachings in their totality. You just can’t have one without the other. . . i am full of gratitude to have had my eyes + heart ripped wide open, my beliefs turned on their head + new ways of being revealed. I’m blown away by Brad’s experience + eloquence in sharing his knowledge with such humility; and Mia’s generous offerings, magic + kindness. I cannot thank you guys enough + I am so so so excited for what’s to come.

day 9 #bgytribechallenge strong & fierce october @blackgirlyoga. . . . “success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." -- dr. maya angelou . day nine y'all! only three more fierce poses after this, so if we've lost you; let this be your personalized invitation to jump back in! salutes to everyone staying the course, and if you're a little late starting, no prob, it's all love. today, we have: #astavakrasana or eight-angle pose! i know she looks a bit complicated, but we'll start from the ground up, and don't freak out if you're only working on the foundation. start in a comfortable seated straight leg pose. warm up by bending one knee and rocking the baby, then use your arms to start working the bent knee as close as you can get it behind your shoulder. stay there, or move your hands down to the floor by your hips. use your arm strength, as well as core and pelvic floor to push away from the ground. once you're up (it's elephant trunk pose); your bottom leg will hook over the top ankle, and you'll press both legs to the side while you drop the chest & lean back the hips. *pro tip -- be careful not to drop too low through the free shoulder. if you’re getting stuck, see my last video for a brief tutorial! 🙏🏾 . . not flying this pose yet? here's your plan b -- start the same way as above, but don't worry about picking your body up. hook the knee behind the shoulder, and from there hook the bottom ankle over top. you can then plant your hands & bow forward staying seated on the ground. if you need alternate poses for this one, try forehead to knee pose, compass pose, side crow, or elephant trunk pose. don't hesitate to reach out if ya get stuck! be fierce, be strong, and have fun trying! . . 👀 the hosts for wisdom and variations: @vnessamerie @sunkissed__goddess @iamreneewatkins @blackyogamom @yoga_by_leslie_davis @littleyogijay @yogasihnuu @yogaloveny @begoodkarma @daughteroftheuniverse @doimoveyou @lisa.n.london . . . . follow cohosts and participate to qualify for a giveaway from @athleta! ✨✨✨

SLOW DOWN, DO YOGA De hele dag ben je aan het rennen en vliegen. Deadlines, kids, koken, boodschappen doen etc etc etc... Niet gek dat je hersenen het daarna lastig vinden om weer te vertragen.
