Don’t hate your body, listen to her. If you have “hip dips” (also lovingly called saddlebags) or if your knees point inward, it’s a sign you’re missing, quite literally, 2 key muscles: The gluteus medius + minimus. These gals are responsible for external rotation of the thigh and stabilizing the hips. . Look at my knee - she how she points inward without this muscle activating? Then, simply by activating the muscle (rather than pulling my knee), the knee naturally lines up where is should: in line with my hip and ankle. That also shoves muscle into the “hip dip”, helping to minimize saddlebags. . Knee, hip, or ankle pain? Saddlebags? You may have an important missing m(ass). This is NOT a prescription, just a point - that your gut may need a lot more help even digesting food than you realize as you first start healing. Here’s an at home test to see if you’re unknowingly“punching” your uterus all day long. Lay on the floor, legs flat, and lift your shirt up so you can see your tummy. Now, lift your legs up against gravity, using your “core”. Which core did you use, the real strong one or the brittle, pressure inducing one? . The way to tell is if your tummy stayed flat(ish) by your hip bones (right picture), meaning you engaged your TVA to lift your legs. Yay! If instead you saw a proverbial "loaf" of bread form (middle picture) you actually were using the pressure-powers that be to lift them legs. That loaf of bread = uterus punch = pelvic pain. Often you can see pelvic floor issues with your own eyes. If your body shape looks like the one on the right, this is basically a perfect outline of someone with pelvic floor dysfunction (i.e. an amigas issue). . See those red arrows on the right pushing angrily down on the pelvic floor and out the tummy? That's pressure with no where to go. When that pressure occurs from poor breathing and movement patterns, like, every day every hour every minute, it damages the tissues of your pelvic floor - including your lower abdominal area. . . That's why this area can look so pouchy (and even be painful), because the tissue is damaged internally. Although 30-50% of women with endometriosis will experience a period of infertility (meaning won’t conceive within one year, not that they’re totally unable), with patience, holistic healing, and maybe a little technology, many of that 30-50% will go on to carry a child. And from what I see, I know that a LOT of you either want kids, are going to have a kid soon, or have kids right now 👶🏽 👶🏽 . . Which is why I started a Postpartum and Babies part of my blog! Postpartum is a VERY fragile time for us endo-girls, and the last thing we want is to fall back (potentially deeper than before) into the endo pain and fatigue cycle. As for the babies, we want to do everything in our power to prevent these little cherubs from battling chronic diseases themselves. . First up? Sleep! As in, for you and for your baby. First, stop looking at the planking baby and look at my foot instead - there you go 😊 This is called Long Foot Short Foot. // The goal is to use/flex your 3 arches (yup you have 3!) to pull your foot towards you and up, then release it out and down. Do this with your foot strength, not by curling your toes under. Harder than it looks folks. // There are more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments in your foot and ankle, so revamping these potentially atrophied friends can be a huge boost in all over strength. Endo girls and knee pain often go hand in hand. Why? Poor body mechanics, not endo :) An important tip: when standing make sure you can wiggle your kneecaps!. ✖️ Honestly, this will only apply to 50% of you, and the other half is not going to understand why this is hard at all. But everyone should test first. How? Stand up, legs straight, and now wiggle your kneecaps. Easy? Ok great! Can’t do? Feel like they’re locked? Yes, this post is for you :) ✖️ If you can’t lift your kneecaps the issue really is you can’t LOWER your kneecaps (they’re already being pulled up by your quads). An advanced forward-leaning ninja often encounters this problem, and means your quads are jerking your knees all day long! Ouch! To learn to release, stand against a wall, and place your feet about 18 inches away so you’re truly relying on the wall to hold your weight. Now wiggle ‘em. See, easy!! Now move your feet closer to the wall and do again, with every success moving closer until you can stand and do it without the wall . ✖️Heal Endo Loaves✖️rustic, gluten free, fermented “sourdough” loaves. Soooo easy to make: 〰️1 cup garbanzo bean flour (or pretty much any gf flour) 〰️1 cup arrowroot or tapioca starch 〰️1/3 cup coconut flour 〰️3 tbsp ground psyllium 〰️3/4 cup fresh kefir 〰️3/4 cup water **dairy free sub real fermented sauerkraut juice, or 1 1/3c water with splash of acv and 1 probiotic pill 〰️Mix and knead well. Will be slightly sticky. Cover with damp dish towel and wait 24 hours to ferment and rise. 〰️Shape into 2 loaves, bake at 400 for 25-30 min. 〰️Let cool!
