This is probably one of the most common pre-school/daycare snacks. I'll admit, I nearly fell for the name and marketing of "veggies" in a straw shape. For about a half second. I have an instant reflex of turning packaging over immediately to read the ingredients. . . . My initial thought was "how is this better than a potato chip?". So, I grabbed a bag of @popchips (sea salt) and compared the ingredients. The POPchips were actually BETTER (per 28g serving). Less fat and sodium. . . . However, I wanted to give you an alternative that actually tastes and looks like what your kids may already be used to. The @ghsnacks veggie stix are delicious and actually contain vegetable powder with vitamins and nutrients. . . . While these are not a substitute for a real serving of vegetables, I don't feel as bad occasionally buying these for my kiddos when they may be feeling left out at snack time. When they ask for "veggie straws," I tell them they can have these, which is maybe once a month now. . . . Remember, that is where I am at in my journey with my kids. It could be twice a month (or more) next month and for many of you, every day/week and that's totally fine. The small steps we take and small wins we win now will translate to lifestyle habits when they are old enough to make all of their food decisions. . . . P.S. I am addicted to the @ghsnacks Jalapeño flavor veggie stix + @hopefoods Original hummus (and just saw that they have Sriracha veggie stix)!!

It’s a very popular snack in India 🇮🇳! ⠀ ⠀ ✅ A great snack ✅ A great salad topper ✅ A great alternative to chips! ✅ Source of fibre ✅ Source of plant protein ⠀ AND most importantly they are DELICIOUS 😋 ⠀ Making this at home means you will save 💰especially since you can get a can of chickpeas for ~ 75 cents! ⠀ INGREDIENTS 1 can chickpeas, drained 1/2 tablespoon Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) Salt (your choice) Spices of your choice (I love paprika or sometimes just plain) ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ METHOD Preheat oven to 200 degrees C (400 degrees F) 1. Drain chickpeas and pat dry with a paper towel 2. Remove chickpea skins (you don’t have to do this but I personally believe this produces a better result) 3. Once the chickpeas are dry add to a bowl with 1/2 tablespoon EVOO and sprinkle with salt (don’t be stingy) mix together 4. Add chickpeas to a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 30-40 minutes (tossing the chickpeas every 10 minutes) 5. Once golden remove from the oven and THEN toss with your preferred spices. WHY? FAT BOMBS|| So many of you were curious about fats + whether they are good for you. Bottom line, your body needs good fats to survive. Think of a Mediterranean diet: olive oil, fatty fish such as salmon, coconut oil, avocados, walnuts, all of these help sustain your body through activity + can even help give your skin some added softness! If you take an Omega supplement, you’re giving your body healthy good fats! Often when we diet we restrict the fats we eat + look towards “fat free” items not realizing that those products are often filled with chemicals + preservatives that replicate the natural fat that otherwise would’ve been there in the first place! And those chemicals + processed ingredients are way worse for you than natural fat! Crazy right?! So on that note, I present to you my homemade (super filling + sustaining) salted chocolate pecan FAT bombs! || . . . INGREDIENTS|| 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil 1/2 Peanut Butter (or almond butter) 1 -2 Tbl Cacao Powder 1 Tbl Maca Powder 1 Tbl Maple Syrup (taste for preferred sweetness) 1/4 Cup Chopped Peacans . . . METHOD || Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan + heat over low until well blended. Use cupcake liners and pour a tablespoon or two into each liner. Add chopped pecans on top of each fat bomb + sprinkle with just a pinch of salt! I honestly think snacking is people’s biggest barrier to weight loss. . Contrary to v popular belief, you don’t need to eat every couple hours to keep your metabolism revved up . Also, 14 small handfuls of pretzels throughout the day is still 14 handfuls of pretzels and yes, they do count 😂 . Eating so often spikes our blood sugar which leads to carb cravings, fat storage, and fatigue - yuck (if you wanna know the WHY behind this, check the link in my bio for the explanation). .
