Made Lemon Garlic shrimp 🍤, the recipe is very easy, 1-2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil (or any cooking oil, coconut 🥥 oil, avocado 🥑 oil, but you want a type of oil that can be able to handle medium to high heat when cooking, olive oil is okay but I did not have the other type of oil available, but use what you have) 1 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and deveined (I got medium sized shrimp but it’s up to you the type of Shrimp that is commonly used is the white shrimp which at the fish counter would look grey, once cooked it will turn pink), 1 clove garlic, minced (depends on your preference of flavor you can use more if you wish), parsley 🌿, oregano 🌿, lemon 🍋 juice, fresh cut chives, pre-sliced shiitake mushrooms 🍄 (I used a little more than half of the pre-sliced shiitake mushrooms from Whole Foods) In a large skillet (or cast-iron pan) over medium heat, olive oil. Add shrimp, sliced shiitake mushrooms, garlic, and chives, cook until shrimp is pink, 3 minutes. Stir in the, lemon juice, oregano, and parsley. Y’all WE RAN 13 MILES 😅😭 That’s insane! Like literally insane! If you would have told me a year ago that I could run 13 miles I would have said YOU CRAY! A year ago today I hadn’t even run a 5K! How times have changed. Like how my work MO used to be going on first dates all the time & now it’s going on first dates all the time & crazy runner person 😂 — It's been three years since I started my fitness journey and I'm so proud to say that I'm still going strong. The journey has been filled with lots of ups and downs, but one of the main reason I have persisted is that of the women who I've met along the way! Like my girl, @paige_cor! Paige & I first connected in the January of 2016 at a HIIT workout (BBG) in LA. Since then she has been one of my biggest accountability partners. Whether I'm up and smashing my workouts or feeling down and discouraged in or outside the gym, I know she has my back. Here’s a little challenge: Walk on over to your washing machine and take a look at the back of the label on your detergent. What do you see? Propylene glycol? Ethoxylate? Sodium polyacrylate? Dyes/Colors? Fragrance? These things are either known hormone disrupters and carcinogens or extremely irritant on the lungs and skin. How sad that so many of us have been washing our clothes, sheets and towels with ingredients that are just straight up scary. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tidbit: If our detergent bottle has the poison control number printed on it, I think that’s a sign to stay away 😬 If you need more proof, feel free to google the ingredients of your detergent and find out what they really are. I love “EWG’s Skin Deep” to check my products. (Side Note: Tide Detergent got a big fat “F” for safety.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Okay, now onto the good stuff. I've been reading Brene´Brown lately and thinking about her research on Shame resilience in relation to living with diabetes. I remember feeling super ashamed at diagnosis. Here I was this yoga teacher, focused on health and wellbeing and everything in me was demonstrating otherwise. It wasn't until I reached out into the #doc that everything changed. I've also learned that mastering a pose in Yoga doesn't always translate into strength around chronic illness. I definitely react when I don't want to. What Yoga does help me with is calming me down. When I stop and breathe I am reminded that my nature is peace, stillness. That the source of all reaction is me... Learning to work with Shame is like flexing a muscle or finding your balance point. First recognizing the feeling, then feeling your innocence regardless and letting TRUST be the bridge between the two. Mummas need rest just as much as bubbas. Would you agree? When Micah was a baby I was lucky enough to lay down with him TWICE a day for naps. I felt charged and was able to solo parent with ease. With Vi I definitely rest less but still choose a long lay down over any other jobs a few times a week. If I'm putting myself last and self sacrificing I usually last about a day before I start feeling catty and graceless. I then struggle to relax and fail to be a friendly Mum. Not that Mums need to be friendly ALL of the time, but for me i enjoy being patient, kind and forgiving of my kids as much as possible ;) Other ways I look after myself.. ♡ Taking a superior quality nutritional supplement (all humans should but particularly if you are pregnant or breastfeeding) ♡ Yoga, several times a week if I can or a solo stretch if I didnt make class. Move YOUR body! Its undoubtedly an essential key to wellbeing. ♡ Find your tribe and connect with them often! don't stop looking until your soul sisters are beside you. These are the people that you can be yourself with and expand even further. Didn't feel like cooking much today so just roasted a pile of produce and a pot of quinoa for dinner and called it a day. 😊 Details: broiled corn on the cob, roasted green bell pepper loaded with purple onion, roasted cabbage wedges seasoned with paprika and pepper mix, roasted red apple slices, homemade spiced adzuki bean sausages and coconut quinoa (1 cup quinoa cooked in 1 cup veg broth + 1 cup @fielddaycanada coconut milk). Added 🥑 and hot sauce post pic.

13th day of being upside down🙃✔️ It was too dark by the time I got home last night to go out and do a headstand so I skipped yesterday, but I am back today😉 Today was a movie theater/relaxing kind of day with the hubs. yogi confession: i’ve been practicing yoga for 6ish years, went through my 200hr teacher training and was still today years old when i finally understood the yoga cue “square your *body part*.” 🧘🏼‍♀️ ⠀⠀ i’ve always understood the idea, to turn your body in that general direction. but why it was called “squaring off” never actually clicked until today in half pigeon. as i was getting ready to settle in + “square my hips to the floor,” i looked ahead at the instructor getting into the posture. then, like i was on an episode of sesame street learning the shape of the day, a line started to appear. 👀 ⠀⠀ starting from the floor straight up to the left hip⬆️, from the left hip to the right➡️, the right hip down to the floor⬇️, + back to the starting point⬅️ ⠀⠀ a perfect s q u a r e 🔲 ⠀⠀ (okay, so maybe it was technically more of a rectangle 😉 but the picture was painted!) ⠀⠀ was this helpful or did you know this already? what’s one cue yoga/fitness teachers throw around without really explaining? maybe we can all help each other out. 😊 #airplanepose #yogacommunity #balance #mypractice #yogatips #thesweatlife #tighthipsopenheart

Just what I needed. ☀️🌴🌊

🍞Hempé, plantain, and blueberry-ancho spread toasted sandwich. . . 📍This sandwich is on point, and here is how we put it together! 1.) We thinly sliced the hempé, and marinated it in a mix of mashed blueberries, scallions, a bit of coconut aminos, ancho chili powder, salt, and pepper. After reserving the marinade, the hempé was browned in a pan for a couple minutes on both sides, and placed in a low oven to keep warm. 2.) We diagonally sliced a plantain, and browned the slices for a couple minutes on both sides in a pan with coconut oil. A sprinkle of salt was added. 3.) A couple @foodforlifebaking slices of bread were toasted up in the oven. 4.) To put it all together: slather one piece of toast with a good smear of @violife_foods feta, and the other piece with the reserved blueberry marinade. On the slice with the feta, layer on kale, plantains, and a slice of hempé. Close the sandwich with the blueberry slathered slice, and serve with extra plantain and blueberry marinade. . 🌱🌱 #vegan #hempé #sandwich

And so is our fur baby’s, Cluey Lui, who got and gave lots of extra love today! ❤️ These ladies are pure gifts from Jesus and I thank God for them daily for the blessing and encouragement they are to me. When I bought a Starter Kit 5 years ago to support my new kindergartner’s immune system, I had no idea what was around the corner in my own health journey. Nor did I realize the deep relationships that would evolve from merely using, loving and sharing my oils with friends and family. sun in aquarius | waxing gibbous moon in cancer | this liminal space between the two eclipses has been a “doozy” for me, not in a bad sense. i’ve felt very inward and the need for deep self care + boundaries. Today is no different as my cycle has synced with the full moon, it feels a little counterintuitive to need to be so deep on a full moon. But I’m honoring my needs, first and foremost. I’ve really tried to listen to what I need to nourish myself + to bring forth what is calling me. Not to force myself into things not meant for me, slowing down, creating the foundations so I can be sustainable + intentional in my offerings.
